  1. Aye its gearing up to be a bit of a shame that we could be missing a few really key players. A decent performance here could give us a real boost for the next few league games.
  2. What could've been for Big John.... Hearts 3-1 Dundee United: Stephen Humphrys scores 50-yard goal - BBC Sport
  3. We've had so many season defining type games. Not sure a loss drags us into relegation trouble quite yet but certainly could be the first step towards it. A win probably puts any talk of it to bed and could be the springboard for a decent go at the final promotion play off spot. A draw, which is my prediction, leaves us bang in the middle of no mans land. A place I'd have bitten your hand off for this season at the conclusion of the 2022 January transfer window.
  4. Fuckin hope we are flying into challenges tomorrow.
  5. Pretty gutted that it didn't work out but quite happy with how it has been handled. Whether it frees up a wage for this season or puts some money in the kitty for next is easy by me. Akio looks an upgrade on Frederikson but time will tell. Also having Gullan and Vaughan fit again means we are far stronger up top than we were at the start of the season.
  6. When you total the money we have spent on 3 strikers over the last 2 seasons who are lucky if they played 3 games between them you can't help thinking we could've afforded a half decent one that could've fired us to the premier league.
  7. I've seen many a poorer centre half than Nolan don the Rovers jersey. He's still relatively young too, I think there's the makings of a decent centre half there.
  8. Rovers fans sounding like a bunch of knicker wetters here. If a team cant deal with the physicality of football then the Scottish Championship is not a place for them. Should be a tasty affair on Saturday, I'm not too confident with Arbroaths recent return to form and would take a draw. Won't do much for our promotion playoff chances but 4 point from Gayfield wouldn't be the reason we miss out if we did.
  9. A frustrating outcome to what was, in large parts, a very enjoyable game. We absolutely controlled about 90% of that, looked sharp and scored 2 really good goals. I thought we did more than enough to win the game. Usually we are bemoaning our lack of cutting edge but when we finally do find some we also find some horrendous defending. ICT's first goal we are sleeping after half time and Dick gets caught wrong side. Good finish though. ICT second, well where do you start? A stupid free kick conceded on the edge of the box when the striker is moving away from goal then absolutely no-one picking up the run of ICT's main striker. We weren't even playing an offside trap! Total schoolboy stuff and something we are starting to show a bit of form for at set pieces. Other than that, Rovers fans could have very little complaints. Midfield absolutely dominated the game and the front 4 of Vaughhan, Connolly, Easton and Gullan played some lovely stuff at times. Vaughan looked back to his best. At the back Nolan and Lang won the vast majority of their battles and Millen and Dick had solid games. Thought the general play of Brown and Spencer linking up play and mopping up in front of the back four was excellent. The hoodoo goes on, but we really only have ourselves to blame this time.
  10. Yip, never really worked out for Connell at the Rovers, best wishes to the lad. I would've been disappointed if we had given him a wage for the rest of the season or more as he clearly wasn't up to this level yet.
  11. Looking forward to this. Will definitely need to be at our best and carry a bit of luck but we are certainly capable of an upset. Not a fixture that has happened too often recently so hopefully can drum up a healthy crowd and a decent atmosphere in Starks. Mon the Rovers!
  12. The very definition of a bogey team. 30 winless games in a row is just ridiculous, however I very much expect it to be 31 come Saturday night.
  13. Good highlights, good coverage of the farcical offside call. Gullan looked sharp in that second half. Fingers crossed he can get a run going in the second half of the season.
  14. Enjoyed that trip last night. Wee man said to me after the match that he wished we had a stadium like that and I found it hard to disagree I thought we managed the game pretty well. They had a pretty decent chance first half and a penalty claim which I'm surprised, given what some free kicks were being given for, that the ref never gave it. Other than that though the fact that we more than matched their work rate meant that the outcome was never really in doubt. Gutted for Gullan who really should have got the hat trick. The offside/ not offside call was farcical and really shouldn't happen at this level of competition. For me the rule is pretty clear, Gullan isn't active when Vaughan plays the ball through and only becomes active when the Rose defender plays it into his path. Hopefully he takes a bit of confidence though as he had three good finishes and another couple of efforts on goal which were well saved and hit the woodwork. Stanton was good when he came on to replace Vaughan, good to see him back too.
  15. It would be good to see a bit of momentum gather behind something like the Raith Trust. Don't know if it will happen but, in terms of uniting the support, something like that has the best chance. Anyway, thats me back in, see how it goes
  16. I can see precisely zero logic in what Macdonald is trying to achieve by disclosing this. After listening to the chat with Graeme Kilgour and Alan Russell on K107 I think I'm going to rejoin the Raith Trust. I was a member way back and can't remember why I stopped. I was going to restart my contributions to the player fund but listening to Alans info on the trust, I think I might put my money there.
  17. Easy now. Whilst I've listed him as not irreplaceable, he's very much in the "would rather not have to replace" category. A definite starter in our current squad and we are definitely a better team with him in it.
  18. Sure there are players like Connolly, Spencer and Lang I would be wanting to keep but no one out of contract in the summer is irreplaceable. For me, it looks as if either promotion or relegation is very unlikely. I would be happy for us to manage resources as much as possible so that when the summer comes we have some money to build for next season.
  19. Jeez, I'm not sure I completely follow what that article is trying to say. It's all over the place! Swiss Internationals and loans from Man City all desperate to go to the Rovers.... Aye right. I'm quite happy that we appear to be desisting from getting this Delios character involved. Kudos to the board on that.
  20. Shite cup or not, if the Pars win next week then the Semi has the potential to be our biggest game of the season.
  21. Now we're into the semis am right up for this! Hope the pars skelp dundee next week.
  22. Genuinely surprised that Arnott has failed to impress at Brechin. He has looked comfortable in a decent championship side. Hope Brechin haven't broken him!
