  1. I'm not disputing that fact but they've also had a very settled group of players for a long time. Iceland were the same when they had that run in the euros...we have a billion players with 1 cap each (for the avoidance of doubt, I'm exaggerating). We're not going to magically produce the next Cristiano McNaldo but a settled squad who know each other and are brought through together is surely more beneficial than a group of guys turning up international week and meeting each other for the first time. Skillful players only get teams so far (Argentina and Messi for example) but team work....I'm gonna say it...I can't believe I'm gonna say it....makes the dream work. We won't win a major tournament anytime soon but with a tight knit squad who've grown up together we might just qualify for a few. Livingston aren't blessed with skillful players but back to back promotion was achieved and the majority of the players playing this season had featured in league 1 only 2 years previous. Decades ago the Scotland squad wasn't full of surprises and we had a half decent team for our level...how many times in the last 10-15 years have you looked at a Scotland squad and thought "who's that?" Only to find out he's a 30 year old Englishman whose gran once had a caravan in Dunoon?
  2. Can't say I agree with that. We have Ryan Fraser, Scott McTominay and Stuart Armstrong who all play in the same league as Robertson with McLean and McGinn joining them from next season. Robertson has also flattered to deceive a bit in a Scotland shirt at times. Not saying he isn't a great player but I don't think we missed him last night and the boy Taylor filled the gap brilliantly. If we look at the recipe for Belgium's (and most nations) success it's a core group of players brought through the youth ranks together, playing the same style at each level. Blood them into the national side fairly early (we play plenty of meaningless friendlies so why not use these?) alongside a few experienced players. I think our team last night had less than 150 caps between them....Hazard has had about 100 himself. Clarke made some bold decisions but I think he's been right in doing so...we needed to get away from the likes of Allan McGregor, Scott Brown and Steven Fletcher and bring in newer players. Other nations have capped players who barely play for their clubs like Foden and Hudson-Odoi for England, we should be looking to bring in hungry young players regardless of where they play their football. Guys like Halkett, Taylor, McNulty, Griffiths, McKenna, Soutar, Bates etc should have been in and around the squad for a while now so they develop an understanding with each other and get used to international football.
  3. JUST. FUCKING. KICK. THE. FUCKING. THING!!!!
  4. De Bruyne was only 3 foot offside but aye it was Taylor's fault....gie yer head a shake
  5. I still reckon Dobbie would be a shout for us...works well with Dykes and over 30 goals last season for a struggling QoS side is phenomenal. Think the stumbling block would be that he's contracted another year though.
  6. Could be looking at lining up something like this ATM Stewart Devlin - Pepe - Lithgow (c) - Lamie Lawson - Jacobs Menga - Pittman - Lawless Dykes
  7. I get that these videos are edited to make the player look fantastic but he seems to have the right attributes about him to replace Halkett...strength, pace, an eye for a pass and isn't afraid to get hurt....not so sure about the grabbing of the opponent's throat though....still looks a good signing I reckon
  8. JoJo robbed there!!! How any judge could score that 30-27 to Chookagian is a mystery!!
  9. Not a lot to be down about for Livi fans....season went better than expected even with the post Christmas drop in form. The worst thing has to be hearing Gallagher and Halkett had sign PCAs with Motherwell and Hertz respectively
  10. Hamilton and Livingston have proven with results they deserve to be in the premiership....Dundee United haven't....dry your eyes
  11. That's a bit harsh. Weren't great and Motherwell took advantage in the first half. The backline might be fantastic once they get playing together...we seem to forget that the GHL unit played together for over 2 years so knew where they each needed to be at all times. You only get a solid defensive unit by playing together.
  12. Thought we were the better team for at least the last half hour and kept their danger men quiet. The defence certainly looked more settled in the second half. Tiffoney was outstanding after coming on and Menga gave us another threat going forward, don't know how he didn't get a penalty at the end!!! Also thought Miller did really well in a new role for him. Worked his socks off and gave us a bit of height in midfield. Felt we missed Keaghs or Lawson first half though as their tenacity and energy could have matched Motherwell's better than Miller or Byrne. Odoffin needs to learn how to tackle, I like that he throws himself into challengers but he'll get booked more than he'll win the ball with how late he is. Hardie has taken a huge knock in his confidence and, not for lack of trying, was dire today. Should have buried the penalty and the one he stabbed from 2 yards out that the keeper sidefooted clear without having to move. Not a bad team performance all in today, lacked a bit of intensity and a cutting edge up top. Referee gave Motherwell EVERYTHING and all 3 goals came from set pieces. I can't remember Stewart having to do too much other than that. Turnbull is a fantastic player and Motherwell will be fighting off bigger teams if he can keep it up, but I felt we dealt well with him and ariyibi (who I thought was a real threat) in the second half. Some good things to look forward to next season; Tiffoney looks an ideal partner for Miller or Dykes, Menga has settled into his role as a winger, Kelly has been offered a deal as, I'm sure, has Byrne, Lamie looks reasonably comfortable as a centre back at this level, Bartley coming in to give the backline a bit of protection and Hamilton are staying up so we only have to finish above them [emoji23]
  13. Thought Lamie has been decent. The defence needs to play together for a few games to settle... the organisation isn't there at the moment. Nice to see Tiffoney getting a goal there...he's looked bright since coming on.
  14. Hardie hits a shite penalty and Motherwell go down the other end and get ANOTHER fucking penalty...luckily it was worse than Hardie's.
  15. Is that the same Ryan Hardie from earlier in the season? I'm not so sure. This game needs Menga. He's not the most clinical but our front line isn't physical enough to trouble Motherwell. Saying that, Motherwell are getting EVERY decision going so Menga would likely get sent off for being fouled (John beaton is the fourth official after all).
  16. Hardie misses a sitter...where has his clinical touch gone?
  17. We are shocking at defending set pieces....Motherwell won't have had 2 easier goals all season
  18. Set piece coach required...applications to Gary Holt. That's 2 of the easiest goals Motherwell will have scored all season. We've been pretty poor at defending set pieces since Christmas
  19. Any Hibs fan I've spoke to have used the words warrior or hard working. Think he'll fit in well at Livi and give us some good protection for the backline. If Marvin is anything to go by I'm excited by the prospect of our team next year. Whittaker is just rumours at the moment as was Christie but I have faith that if he isn't going to fit the team, Holt and Martindale won't sign him
