  1. Alnwick, Shaughnessy & McCarthy were very good. Deserved win for them.
Very one dimensional from us. Our set pieces were utter garbage. McMillan in for Devlin next week, please.
I'd have Efe (our best player today) at RB with Fitz (unless brown is fit) and Guthrie in the middle and ATS on the left. Back to a 4-2-3-1 and play to our strengths. We looked an absolute shadow today. Defence were operating the 2m social distancing for the goal...3 centre backs who don't know each other is a nightmare
  2. Shocking defending from us there.  Only one team in it so far, yet we are losing.  Too tentative around their box.
We need to bin Sibbald, gives the ball away cheaply every time.
Need to bin the 3 at the back...I get we have an abundance of defenders but Gary needs to stop trying to shoehorn them all in. The extra man at the back means dykes lacks the support up top
  3. Haha, sorry if I sounded like a dick. A few players sort of converged on that position, can’t really remember the order. McMillan’s loan spell really seemed to do him good and grew into it; Devlin is established in that position; and Lawson settled into the game/that position and looked dangerous going forward. Oddofin just hasn’t had the chance because of it and while we were in good form.
Odoffin looked decent going forward and has pace to burn but seemed to be lost in a defensive sense plus he doesn't have the physicality the rest of our team does

Fantastic from Paul Craig. He has won a few from lying on his arse now.

When Antigulov took him down it played to Paul's strengths...very good off his back.

Anyone watching the UFC tonight? Cards been entertaining so far. Looking forward to the main event. Had a few punts on individual fights, few have went well!

it's on in the background at work so I'm catching some of it...looked a late stoppage by Herb Dean (shocker) there in the Trinaldo fight, the guy looked out on the deck

Yeah we're a bit laden with CB's, keeping them all happy will be a problem, going with 3 at the back and 2 WB's solves that problem but agree it isn't our best set up now. And sticking Brown in as LWB wastes his talent as a CB, as he showed last season in a back 4, he was far better playing as a CB.

Guthrie is nailed on to start, which leaves only one from Ambrose, Brown & Fitzwater, on last season's performance i'd prefer Brown, but looks like he'll be sacrificed to play  LWB, which means ATS or McMillan wont be starting there. Imo they're our two best players at that position. Brown's long throws will bag us goals too, so he has to start, can't see Ambrose being left on the bench though so think we'll stick with the 3 CB's and 2 WB's.

I'm wondering if the 3 at the back is an experiment to help us pick up more positive results away from home...the 4-2-3-1 seemed to work great at home where we are stronger

Think it just goes to show how much of a knife edge the entire process is on and will continue to be on.

There's absolutely no chance the Livingston game will go ahead.

I read that the game won't be postponed unless players return positive tests. Not sure how it will affect any preparation for the game for St Mirren though. No good to hear, hopefully a speedy recovery for everyone involved.

  8. Yep, Stewart's never impressed, don't think QotS fans were enamoured with him in his loan spell there last season either. Thought it was too early for Schwake (maybe needs to go out on loan to a league One or Championship side this season), so glad we've signed Stryjek to give McCrorie competition for the GK jersey.

I take it the GK trialist against Utd was Stryjek.
The OS says he featured against Dundee United so he must have been the trialist keeper. I'm assuming we've dropped our interest in Rohan Ferguson
  9. If Dykes is still here when we ko then it'll be an exciting season ahead striker wise, we didn't have any other options up front last season, it was just Dykes and midfielders playing off him. It was the one area we were pretty thin on the ground. Looking forward to seeing what Poplatnik can do.
Hopefully Fitzwater is as good as Guthrie and Devlin.
Some of the Walsall fans rate him a lot higher than big bad Jon

Trying to keep everyone to one position, and using last season's 4-2-3-1 I think our depth looks like this...

GK: Ross Stewart; Gary Maley; Brian Schwake

RB: Nicky Devlin; Steve Lawson; Hakeem Odoffin

CB: Jon Guthrie; Efe Ambrose; Jack Fitzwater; Alan Lithgow; Cece Pepe

    LB: Aaron Taylor-Sinclair; Jack McMillan

CM: Marvin Bartley; Keaghan Jacobs; Craig Sibbald; Robbie Crawford; Carlo Pignatiello

    RW: Alan Forrest; Dolly Menga

    CAM: Scott Pittman; Scott Robinson

LW: Aymen Souda; Scott Tiffoney; Rafaelle De Vita

ST: Lyndon Dykes; Matej Poplatnik; Jack Hamilton

Not bad depth especially when you consider how many of those can play in a few different positions. From that I'd expect Schwake, Pepe, Pignatiello, and De Vita to leave either on loan or permanently, and possibly Stewart (depending on who we sign) and Hamilton too. Think we'll keep Lithgow unless he pushes for a move or we bring someone else in (Brown?) - 4 natural CBs gives us cover for injuries/suspensions and means we can move to 3 at the back and still have one on the bench.

Notice Fitzwater played with Nicky and BBJ at Walsall...wonder if they're looking to use that understanding at the back although according to some sources Fitzwater is a leftback.

  11. Part of a Dykes to Rangers deal? Hope not would rather he just went somewhere for money, if indeed the %future transfer clause by QoS is correct... [emoji120][emoji383]
It could be that he didn't finish his loan but they want him to get top level experience and he'll know our squad so it's an easier move for him. Still not hugely enthused by it myself though
