  1. These sort of double headers often seem to result in a win and a defeat. However, forgetting about the Celtic run of games a few years ago, I can remember getting 2 home wins against Celtic in the 90's and, more recently, 2 against Dundee United. Much as losing the league game would be a sore one with the run we're on I'd probably take a win in the cup game over the 3 points. Winning both would be lovely but I just don't see where our goals are coming from.

  2. The coverage was dreadful. I was hoping for some mini-Open All Mics which they could easily have done. Instead I got full on Celtic then Rangers coverage with the only updates from the other games being goals or red cards. No discussion on how the games were generally going or missed chances which really wouldn't have taken much effort.

  3. Back in the day, there was a fence right down the middle of the North Bank, right where the middle logo on the roof is in my photo. To the left of the fence, the home support were located, the away support to the right. There were some tasty exchanges across that fence down the years. The North Bank was fcuked the day the seats went in. The Main Stand was a hundred years past its sell-by date, and the new Love Street end stand was a freezing cold wind tunnel. As much as I miss Love Street for the emotional ties, the away fans had by far, the best deal.
Ah, memories of a midweek game and an altercation between Stevie Kirk and Billy Abercrombie for which they both got sent off (allegations of spitting by Kirk). Abercrombie refused to leave so the ref sent him 4 times and he ended up with a 12 game ban. Helped liven up a fairly drab (1-1 draw (IIRC).
  4. We normally have a Home support of about 4,200 however yesterday the home support was less than 3K. There was a bigger crowd v Hamilton a few days before and Hamilton only brought around 200 with them.
Why the huge drop-off? No idea really. Several die-hards around me failed to turn up. Maybe the weather, maybe the cost  of 2 games a week at the moment but it was a poor turnout from us.
And once before we allowed opposition supporters into a section of the (non swearing) family stand but their behaviour was unacceptable causing a flood of complaints so the experiment has never been repeated.
You'd have been ok, Motherwell fans don't swear. [emoji6]
  5. To be fair you could have said the same about our game against Celtic on Wednesday. Putting visiting supporters into stands with the home support is a logistical nightmare and pisses off the home support which is why we decided to stop housing Old Firm fans in the Main Stand last season.

We had the strange situation a few seasons ago when we drew Hearts at home, made the away stand all-ticket and Hearts managed to sell their allocation. By the time the match was played we were in the middle of a spell of snowy weather with warnings not to travel and we had a dreadful support (not helped by the match being live on tv) whereas Hearts filled the away stand as they'd already bought their tickets.
Similarities yesterday as I'm not sure as many would have gone through with that weather forecast. At least we got a last minute winner against Hearts (somebody show Carl McHugh' s screamer please).

  6. Simply, because I've never seen it since - The Strange Case of David Ferere: Small man in vast shorts scores an "identical hatrick" as a substitute on his debut, does nothing of note again and is made redundant after about 5 games.

To be fair, he didn't get that much of a chance to do much else as we made him redundant a few months later. And yes, he probably should have had a fourth.
  7. Typical penny pinching from St. Mirren when they have to share the gate takings.
    Mind this game?

Yeah, the TF stand was sparse and the West had gaps but there was way more than the official attendance of 4400-odd.
Looked fairly accurate to me. I was surprised Saints had less than 3000 there though (but not commenting too much- who knows how many we'll get to turn out for a midweek replay!).
