The longer route doesn't bother me all that much. I quite like flying out late at night as it's far easier to sleep and you get a full day to do whatever you want before the flight. I'm not a fan of KLM either, but if they're cheap and it gets me there then I'd probably go for it.

Both times I've got my flights for £370 return. Which for the distance traveled isn't too bad. Turkish Airlines via Istanbul. Accommodation can be as expensive or as affordable as you want it to be. It's not cheap cheap, but there are good affordable hotels and capsules out there.

Away back in March after a 5 day stopover in Hong Kong. My brother is coming with me this time and he hasn't been before so I'm away back to Tokyo and Kansai again, but the last time I didn't have nearly enough time to see everything so I'm going to fill in all the gaps. Still plenty to do. Gives me time to brush up on my Japanese.

I'll post an update after I've played on Wednesday. Expecting it to be buggy to start with, naturally. We'll see.

Anyone playing this on the PC or getting on the Xbox One when it's released on the Game Preview Program on Wednesday? I've been waiting for a while for the Xbox version so I'm pretty excited. It's a standard survival game (gather resources, build weapons, bases etc.) with the addition of tamable dinosaurs. Full release for Xbox, PC and PS4 is in June 2016, although PC and Xbox users have access to the Early Access version of the game until then.

Miyajima was great. You can get over there with your JR pass. When I was there the weather was perfect so you could see for miles from the top of Mt. Misen. Deer all over the place. Hasn't rained a drop the entire trip. Pretty much constant sunshine and 23-26 degrees. I didnt expect it to be so warm so I wasn't best prepared with my clothes choices. The flight over via Istanbul was great. The food was better than edible, flight was on time and there was live Bundesliga on so that passed a couple of hours. With it being a night flight as well it wasnt difficult to sleep. No complaints. I'm in Kansai airport just now. A few hours until my flight but I had nothing else to do so just going to grab some food and browse on the phone. One of those rare trips when you feel a bit sick coming home. Dreading work on Thursday.

I'm in Osaka right now and fly home tomorrow Japan is undoubtedly my favourite country now. In fact, I've loved it so much that I'm considering applying for the working holiday visa after I save a bit of money when I get home. Osaka might not have as much to do as Tokyo etc., but the people have been much more outgoing and friendlier in my experience (don't get me wrong, the people in Tokyo were nice and very polite as you'd expect from the Japanese, but Osakans seem like they're more likely to strike up a conversation with you). Kind of reminds me of coming to Scotland from the south of England.

Those ties died off a long time ago while Celtic still have that connection. I'm no Ireland fan by the way. I just don't see this as that big a deal.

I think it's fairly obvious why they wished Ireland luck, given the history of the club. Scottish club with Irish roots and a significant Irish following. Give it a rest.

Watched seasons 1-7 in the space of about a month. Loved it. Some of it seemed way too drawn out in season 7, and the Belfast storyline in season 3 was awful. Other than that a great show though.

Going next week. Leave Edinburgh on the 16th and arrive in Tokyo via Istanbul on the 17th. Spending 4 nights in Tokyo to begin with (staying in Nishi-Shinjuku) and then heading to Kyoto for three nights (staying in one of those capsule hotels) and then onto Hiroshima for a night and combining that with Miyajima, and then finishing up in Osaka for three nights. Is it worth going to Nara while I'm staying in Kyoto / Osaka, considering the limited time I have in both? Excited but struggling badly with learning Japanese.

Sportscene needs a major overhaul. Could they look and sound even more bored?
