  1. Cracking show. I know the style isn’t to everyone’s taste, but the Danielson match will take some beating as my MOTY. The best wrestler of the 21st century for me.

For as much as I didn’t enjoy the All In footage nonsense, Perry’s return was great, and it’s given him a dynamic he just didn’t have before as a heel.

Shame to see Joe lose the belt as I think he’s been excellent, but need to strike whilst the iron’s hot with Swerve.

The TV does not pull me in as much as it once did, but the PPVs are still just of a ridiculous quality. Been a few dud matches, but I legit think it was just that December PPV I wouldn’t have classed as excellent.

  2. Omega isn’t the best promo, but excels in, high speed, long matches - in a style that WWE very rarely offer. I couldn’t see him ever going.

I guess I couldn’t have seen AJ Styles going back in the day either, but he was already a ‘sports entertainer’ in his latter TNA days.

I don't think I saw a minute of Grimshaw last season but there's no fucking way he was anywhere near the best midfielder in the championship.  That's absolutely wild. He's ranged from pretty steady to poor at right back for us, but is Jordan Tillson level poor in midfield.  Probably worse than Tillson, who is at least mobile.

He was quite easily one of the best, which is why he got the move in the first place.

I think the issue AEW are having at the moment is the gapping hole that MJF being out has left so there isnt really a focal point for the shows. There are plenty on the rooster who are better wrestlers and probably put on better matches, but MJF brings a lot more. Also a big focus recently was the Edge & Christian, and Cassidy / Strong feuds which are hopefully tied up now but have left a gap. Kingston getting the triple crown as well.

5 hours a week is a lot to fill (more if you include their ROH shows), and a lot just hasnt landed over the last few months. The bullet club was going ok and didnt need mixed in with the acclaimed. The CMLL tie up seems a waste of time, I've enjoyed having the Japanese and AAA guys appear semi regular but the CMLL angle has been forgetable as it looks like its been done just so Jericho can go back to being Lionheart.

Ospreay and Swerve are the high points at the moment and you know the PPV's are going to be stacked with quality matches, they just have to start the long build to London and focus on themselves and not what anyone else is doing. A lot of focus has been on guys joining or returning after long lay offs which get a big pop to start but its a slow burn after that.

Even when MJF was there though, the whole Cole/Devil programme was death, for me anyway.

He’ll be a megastar when he’s back again, but he should be a heel.

  5. There’s too many shows, too many belts and too many people on the roster.

I think WWE have that issue too, but when you’re hot and have a cebtral story everything else revolves around, it isn’t as noticeable.

To get a big increase in their TV rights, having more content on offer is important, but I do feel it’s to the detriment of the overall flow of the product.

In all seriousness, I have enjoyed AEW for the most part from its creation and have been engaged for large stretches of time until MJF's run coming to an end due to injury, but since then I've struggled to stay invested, and as an unabashed Punk fan (more than any wrestling company tbh) I find myself turning more and more against them for this Nitro-esque pot shot nonsense, and the Ospreay promo immediately afterwards only baffles me more. I wish they would focus on themselves and do what they do best rather than reacting to what's happening externally every week like they've been doing of late. Embarrassing stuff.

I agree they should ignore this shite for the most part, but I think Ospreay was well within his rights after Triple H basically called him a lazy b*****d on TV.

The best thing they could do is move on from the All In stuff, but they’ve only leaned into it more.

Would have loved this game. He’d have met your teams pish with extra sauce. And then some skill. Have Morton fans been watching this all season? I mean, Ayr fans are pissed off about how our season has gone but we haven’t just been watching our team assaulting other teams. Dont get me wrong. An element of hard tackling is to be admired but your entire tactic? f**k me. No wonder drugs are a huge problem in Greenock.

At least you’ve taken it well, that’s the important thing.
