  1. The very one. I told him just to go with Garching, I think there may have even been spaces in the same hotel, so I don't really know why he did that.
  2. Me and my brother also in Garching, on @welshbairn's recommendation actually. Looked nicer and better priced than the city centre options at the time. A mate of mine is in the next wee town over as well.
  3. I think you're fairly spot on there. Mine are a mix of index trackers and higher risk tech / north US funds. You really can't go too far wrong with them, as long as you're investing regularly. I don't agree entirely on life strategy funds, but that's because I have the LS 80% equity in Vanguard, while there's been dips in the last 2 years it's well up since I've been investing. With the way tax in Scotland is going, paying particular attention to the amount and where you invest your pension in could be particularly beneficial long term.
  4. Ach I voted without reading the poll, a revolutionary war against the establishment I'd be there with bells on. Other than that, nah. Although if it was more or less just like Kelly's heroes then yeah I'm probably back in.
  5. Everyone with an S&P 500 fund investment. Same actually applies to anyone heavily weighted in North America / US tech firms.
  6. Surprised at the lack of match thread for this guaranteed thriller of a cup tie. Hopefully the Jags can continue our play-off retribution against relegation zoned Livi this time. With a break this weekend and hopefully no injuries I'd quite fancy us, so we'll probably lose.
  7. The other thing, although I've no idea if the curtains matched the drapes then or now.
  8. Don't really understand this suggestion of untrained / semi-trained boots on the ground approach being mentioned. Get a bunch of weans to pilot cheap drones with bombs, far better off that way.
  9. Also met Connery, in a bar after a round of golf in Spain, had a double take and then thought to myself if I didn't say it then I'd always regret it for the rest of my life and said "I take it that's shaken, not shtirred" he's slowly turned around with a half smile and said "f**k offfff" Mates brother pumped Gail Porter (apparently) pre-bald as well. One of my mates winched Michelle McManus on a night out and we never let him forget it.
  10. KLM actually cancelled our flight to Berlin, but this was on the 14th and we'd have missed the opener and we'd since booked other flights, so worked out rather well. Then EasyJet changed our flight times to something ridiculous on the 13th meaning we'd have missed our connecting flight to Munich. Keep an eye on your flights basically, as EasyJet didn't even tell us they changed.
  11. Congrats, missus had a boy in March last year, been pee'd on so many times man, just catches you out and boom pished on, some range on it. Didn't really happen so much with our wee girl.
  12. The second pic just looks like a bunch of frozen boaby's man.
  13. Read this as something you did while you were a professor and I can't stop laughing at the thought of it.
  14. In an update to creepy things that happen on baby monitor, the missus advised me that the monitor moved and moved back again. I didn't witness this and she was very tired and tripping balls. Though she did not appreciate me sharing my vivid dream / nightmare of a few nights previous, in fact this is recurring. I've always had pretty wild dreams, but in this dream I see a creepy old hand (like a witches hand maybe) appear slowly towards the monitor and the monitor goes dark, then the child is gone. It's remarkably vivid, the thing that amazes me usually is the fine details that appear in the dream, it's exactly the way things should look.
  15. Sorry to hear about this mate, shite all round but you'll probably come out of it better in the long run, I hope/think anyway. Went through separation and divorce about 10 years ago, (no kids in the equation) had been together a long time, but only married about a year and it just felt the old classic of ships passing in the night. When it all ended I was strangely relieved, but then I felt a lot of regret like I'd wasted the best years of my life and subsequently went a bit wild for a while trying to make up for it and during this time got involved in a long distance "whirlwind romance" absolutely head over heels for a younger, mysterious, highland lass and 8 years later we've got two kids and still going strong. Wrote this to give you a bit of positive for the long term, when the dust settles and you've figured out the other stuff. Tough times but it will get better.
  16. This sort of stuff really confuses me, imagine how annoying it would be as the driver doing that, constantly braking, I wonder what they thinking at the time. The thing is, most modern BMWs will have cruise control that can detect a car in front and just keep them at A) a safe distance and B) the speed limit. Also if you are driving behind this, it can be quite easy to get drawn into reactionary braking if the vehicle in front is a van you can't see ahead of and instead end up having to leave a bigger than normal gap, then c***s decide it's fair play to undertake you. Classic Edinburgh to Glasgow and vice versa shenanigans.
  17. Interesting! I've barely been looking at Vanguard pension stuff as it's the same 3 funds I use and used HL as it had more choices. I'm off to investigate!
  18. I have a post somewhere on this thread about somewhat mistakenly joining the work social committee, then somehow being in the thick of the action for organising a massive corporate style Christmas party with a recently dumped control freak. It was exactly as much fun as it sounds. In all honesty I love a Christmas night out, always have, probably always will. For the main reasons being, you get to see people you don't like making a total c**t of themselves due to their inability to drink. I also love an awkward social situation, I'll stand there in the silence and watch people cringe with how awful the conversation is no problem. I usually try to get a group of good c***s to go for a few pints with, then turn up later on just as people are starting to make an arse of it. Wonderful.
  19. Twitter / X is a mess right now man. I get the above on threads as well, one of the most annoying things these days is you see a post and think, ah lets see more or try and find some context and it's just random gifs or unrelated crap. Also seeing a lot of these CCTV idiots and 1000 ways to die vids, both quite grim at times, but I have followers who follow them so see them on the "For you" section.
  20. I've delayed mine, I've been waiting to hear @mathematics review on the Tesco mince pies before I dive into them, might want to plump for something else. I also want to get some cream for them to go for the full mince pie experience.
