  1. Kennie would have no say in it whatsoever, it will have come from the top at Holyrood. It's a show of respect for the head of state passing away.
  2. Kennoway v Drumchapel Utd is another cracking tie.
  3. Agreed. Drumchapel could go far with a bit of luck in the draw. It's a very open tournament this year with Tower Hearts gone, West Park also gone and the likes of Colville no longer around either. St Pats would have to be big favs but they are not as formidable as Colville were a couple of years ago so it's wide open for someone outside the normal names to go and win it.
  4. I didn't say shock of the round, I said result of the round. There's no way there are 30 amateur teams better than Glasgow Harp either, that's a crazy statement. Drumchapel are a cracking young team who are going places and could be a genuine force if they all stick together.
  5. All results in here: https://www.scottishamateurfa.co.uk/result/cup_id/4 Result of the round - Drumchapel United beating Glasgow Harp 2-1? Anyone know when the draw for the next round takes place?
  6. Did they not lose most of their team to Junior / West of Scotland set up?
  7. If Rangers go out the CL they go right into the EL Group Stage. So no qualifiers for them and group stage won't start until mid September.
  8. All Scottish Cup Chat for season 22/23. 1st round draw made yesterday: https://twitter.com/ScotAmFA/status/1556715202082738177?s=20&t=d2QburaQ1KpFPaSmzRaCoA https://twitter.com/ScotAmFA/status/1556715022071615490?s=20&t=d2QburaQ1KpFPaSmzRaCoA https://twitter.com/ScotAmFA/status/1556714611348570112?s=20&t=d2QburaQ1KpFPaSmzRaCoA The first round ties are scheduled to be played Saturday 3rd September which clashes with the first Old Firm game of the season. More common sense decisions from the dinosaurs running the ammy game when many teams are struggling to get boys turning up for games as it is.
  9. Are there no highlights of the game from Saturday guys?
  10. I wouldn't say he's struggling to get into the team, it's only two games into the new season and he played the majority of games last season. A bit early imo to be saying he can't get into the team this season.
  11. Years ago, you could only get into The Caledonian League if you had your own ground. They wouldn't let you in if you had a council pitch. Teams like Glasgow Harp, Giffnock North, Milngavie Wanderers, Doune Castle and EKYM all have a lot of the infastructure already in place to move into the WOSFL. St Mungo have a lease at Loretto as well, which could meet the requirements with a little bit of development. Drumchapel Ams in the Central have the right set up as well. You would have to think teams like this will be considering taking the plunge. I actually heard Drum Ams are joining next season (they already have an U20s in the WOSFL set up for this season) and EKYM thought about moving this season but backed out.

  13. The convenience of getting your game out the way in the morning plays a massive part in it. It still allows people the chance to play football in the morning, then go and do as they please in the afternoon whether that's family stuff, Ibrox/Parkhead or a game of golf etc. Saturday afternoon, you are away from lunchtime and not back until the evening depending on where you are playing, it's a big commitment. Social attitudes have changed from 20 years ago when the afternoon leagues were thriving and the morning leagues were seen as a joke. You also need to factor in the WOSFL and the fact a lot of amateur teams are stepping up into this and teams in the bottom divisions are raiding the amateur ranks for players. The amateur afternoon leagues are on their last legs. I suspect we will start to see a lot of the decent amateur teams, especially the ones with their own park etc look to take the plunge into the WOSFL soon. The Saturday afternoon ship is sinking.

  15. What teams have you heard are moving over?
  16. The Saturday afternoon amateur game is finished without serious reform - leagues joining together, maybe regionalising them etc and possibly things like being more flexible with kick off days and times. The West of Scotland League has been the final nail in the coffin. The morning leagues are thriving if the Caley/Central/SAFL don't adapt or do something quickly they will be gubbed.
  17. Good show. Darvel will win the Prem again though and more comfortable this time.
  18. Thorn Athletic and Finnart have resigned from the league. Unable to field teams this season.
  19. Peterson Park...semi pro? Lol. Good grief.
  20. They are taking a year out and rejoining the Caley 1st Division next year. They have obviously been left with no players and not enough time to get the team up and running for the new season.
  21. It has been communicated to all clubs in the league.
