  1. Fernieside no longer exists they were 'absorbed' into the Edinburgh South set-up.
  2. Preparing yourself for the worst after Saturday Mantis
  3. Wish the guy all the best but the club have let much better young players go in recent seasons.

  5. Jambogaz I see the Lothian Thistle game was postponed on Friday was it due to be played at Saughton Enclosure?
  6. Cheers HJ I had only seen the paper at the station on my way home so didn't see the full content. Well done to Spartans for doing the right thing.
  7. When I saw it I thought Peter McGauley had a relative playing for Spartans. In all seriousness a truly shocking incident plenty folk have a moan at refs but to threaten him and then follow him is way over the top. Hopefully Spartans will take the appropriate action against the parent, he's not fit to watch games.
  8. No official linesmen, holsten, just someone from each team to help with ball in/out.
  9. I went to Lasswade last night to see two teams that might be challenging at the end of the season. After losing two early goals the young Lothian team got themselves level by half time. Despite having numerous chances in the 2nd half it looked like Whitehill were going to be frustrated until their left back popped up with a superb goal in the 90th minute. On chances Whitehill just about deserved the win but the Lothian team are punching above their weight given they were playing under 17s last year. The league looks really good this season and picking an eventual winner is very tough.
  10. Just back in from the Whitehill v Spartans game after a marathon bus trip. We were treated to a fireworks display but not on the pitch in the first half. The Whitehill keeper pulled off two great stops in the first half but that was about it, the game was stop start with a lot of fouls from the away team whose sidelines weren't slow in letting the ref know their feelings. Second half Whitehill began to take control and two quick goals put them in the driving seat, Spartans had a late rally and threatened late in the game but the Whitehill defence were strong enough and again the keepers handling was first class. Another good advert for this league and Whitehill will be hoping they do the double tomorrow.
  11. https://mickeylawson.wordpress.com/2015/09/13/a-great-three-points-and-a-bit-more/ Last paragraph, I was at this game as well and it was a bizarre set up, difficult to get in and even more difficult to get out!!
  12. Great to see the league growing and a massive congratulations should go to Gary for his efforts in getting the league to where it is now. Looks like a good season ahead for the young boys.
  13. Took the game in at Ainslie Park last night, and it was a good advert for the league. The two top teams showed no signs of end of season fatiuge and put on an entertaining display. Spartans had the bulk of the ball in the first half but Whitehill hung in there and the second half was pretty much end to end. Spartans 6 and 8 stood out whilst 10 and 2 showed up well for Whitehill. I hear the league is going to increase in numbers next season, well done to all responsible for running this league this year.
  14. I took this game in as well and agree with Rab, it was a joke at times, at 2-2 the ref had the ideal chance to call it a day. Mind you this was the same ref that gave a goal then changed his mind when he was clearly not in a position to see what had happened, poor performance from the man in black (yellow). Thank goodness for the railway tunnel, does that count as as a covered enclosure.
