  1. Couldn't work out our formation/strategies in most of the game today and the players also looked uncertain. Don't want to single out but Todororov was left to plod away while the others were good at keeping possession but going nowhere for much of the match till we scored. I'll exempt Dycey for his goal and battling away in the second half.

Tough times ahead and as Mr November posted we need to score first, certainly against QP next week. I'm not going to give the Arabs any money.

Taylor-Sinclair literally headbutted Crawford making no attempt to play the ball, how he never received a red for it I’ll never know. He ended up doing Oakley later in the game too, c*nt.

Crawford was also on the end of a heavy challenge towards the game and was noticeably limping around. We were out of subs so respect to him for playing through the pain barrier but I fear it may have made things worse long-term.

Certainly it was closer to the home side so your view was better than mine. However I wonder if the crowding of the Ref by Morton players , made it look worse. It didn't prevent the player continuing so maybe a yellow was about right.

I've not seen any Oakley incident later so hard to comment much as the Ref appeared to see no incident in the Mullen/ McGregor situation.

The challenge on him was not particularly heavy, and I accept that Crawford may have done as you say but we've all seen miracle recoveries in the modern game.

I actually enjoyed the game and it certainly wasn't dull

I don’t know why Airdrie fans let him live rent free in their heads. Ignore him, move on. The judgement was enough for me.

I also don't get why some of our fans still get so irate over this . I'm sure someone was demanding a yellow card when he was smiling at a corner. Ignore him.

  4. We're all biased when it comes to judging fouls etc but I didn't think the game was that rough. I'd need to see the Taylor Sinclair challenge on screen before seeing it as a red. Find it hard to see us , or Morton as dirty players this season in previous games.

The second goal looked well offside but that let Morton dominate the game and should have got a third. Right up until the substitutions Airdrie offered little threat until the ponderous Toddy toddled off. Might have unjustly sneaked a draw in those extra minutes.

The referee was poor throughout but it was funny to see , Crawford I think, being apparently pole axed , only to reappear in seconds with a quick counter attack.

Morton are now a much better team than us and Rhys needs to somehow restore some credibility and structure to our squad.

Enjoyed the dry seat in the stand.

  5. Certainly Megwa had a great spell just before his recall and seems keen to work again with Rhys.

It gives us a chance for a flexible back three/  four with Hancock and Megwa as wing backs, or full backs , and if Fordyce is fit then Watson can be trusted at CB rather than Rhys.

Might well also be the chance to see Hancock at CB with Ballantyne on left. I don't want to be carried away but it has the style of Tierney and Robertson?

It strengthens the squad although I still wanted  a CB .

  6. Ticket bought for the Wee Dublin end and hope the weather is bearable, but I'll come prepared for the four seasons.

Morton are bound to have worked out how to get the win by just playing their usual hard working and thoughtful approach.

I worry if Fordyce is unfit and we'll need to be a bit more pragmatic in our play it out style. Suspect Josh Rae will rarely venture out his box .

I'd be happy with a point and a more composed defence than last week , given our upcoming fixtures.

  7. Conceded three poor goals and players getting carried away with the "philosophy" while forgetting the basics in that opening spell.

Did score a good equaliser and might have set up a promising second half but that horror show at 2 and a bizarre Rae and Referee show , made it worse.

I thought we could have snatched a third but Ayr were just too street wise.

Enjoyed hospitality and if only Paul Jack had been there to whack a few.

Missed Fordyce hugely and Rhys was well bullied by Dowds.

On to the wee Dublin end with a sense of dread.

  8. Comical defending from most of our players today and obviously I'm not amused, but Ayr did the job again on us . It's a funny league where we can't cope with Ayr but Morton can, while we do ok against the Greenock lads. Well until next week that is. Clearly we missed Fordyce but Josh Rae had some howlers.

Tight league and some difficult games ahead.

  9. Gone for a 1-1 draw on the prediction post, which would represent an improvement on our games against Ayr

We still lack real goalscorers from our midfield and while Todororov has taken his recent chances, it's still us as lowest scorers in the League.

Ach well,  let's have a 4-3 Airdrie win.

I managed to get a ticket in the club 1924 sale. Totally agree that the tickets should be exclusively for Airdrie fans and hopefully the pre-sale has allowed that to mostly happen. FWIW someone on the Facebook group has said this is the case, 97% of tickets sold to Airdrie fans apparently, although how they’re privy to that information I don’t know. Good to hear if true as any Man United hanger-ons can f**k off.

I actually think the speakers should all be Airdrie-related too, although at least Alex Ferguson should have some Airdrie stories!

I endorse your sentiments and I was told that Johnny Watson did a one man drama on the great Hughie Gallagher so he should be well versed .

  11. I saw Ian McMillan in his first lengthy spell with the Diamonds and he was a standout player , especially as he was like many of players then, part time but he gave it all for us.

His spell with Rangers passed me by but clearly he was crucial to much of their success.

His return to us promised much and it was injury affected but he was still an excellent player.

His time as manager had some of our best days and as the club posted he gave it all again in all the later roles.

Condolences to his family. Hope we have a proper tribute to his contributions.

  12. Having seen Morton several times this season , and how close all the games were, and with all their recent results/full squad, I'd expected it to be really tough for Motherwell .

I watched it and Morton were superior in all areas while Motherwell never adjusted to a cup tie atmosphere.

Never watched the post match stuff so can't really comment on Imrie but celebrating a win over the Well is always to be savoured. Well done Morton and I look forward to my next visit to Cappielow.

Anyone going to go to the 1924 centenary dinner? My dad and I probably will. But £100 a ticket and not in Airdrie, on a working Sunday night? Not ideal, better be bloody good!

Certainly considering it and I do wonder who the target audience is at that price, dripping clues about the main speaker, and how many tickets are up for distribution?

My dad was always so proud of seeing that cup win and I'd like to think of him if I go.

Aye I agree with that although I’d say only Dundee Utd, Raith and Thistle are actually fine. Morton only 9 points ahead of Queens at the moment, however they’re in a better position than everyone else, in the grand scheme of things they could get sucked back in but it would take a collapse.

I agree with your point and had it not been for their very impressive recent run I'd have stopped at Thistle as well. All to play for by everyone.

No complaints from me about who won , you guys were clearly the better team. My only minor gripe would be Rae at the final whistle standing for about 30 seconds with his hands cupping his ears facing the Rovers fans. If it were me I’d be off celebrating with my own fans.

Obviously I didn't see that and it's not needed but maybe he'd been getting stick at that end. Like many goalies he's clever at eking out time and I get how annoying it is, if it's not your team. Falkirk have just made my night however!
