  1. Thanks for info. Our POTY is next week and can only see Andy Ryan winning it
  2. If he is the left back I saw this season then that is a wise choice.
  3. Listened to the debate and I don't think either of them was "telt". I do recollect Willie/Ruth and Kez using the Gers figures to show that Independence means a 15billion deficit, although Gordon Brown had reduced it to 9 billion in his speech the next day, so I am glad now that Kevin agrees it is of no use in debates on Independence.
  4. The electoral register of course barred 16/17 year olds from voting and Non Irish EU Citizens, as well all those under 16s who have now had their potential EU Citizenship removed as a future . That might be a majority of the 5 million?
  5. Just about 2/3 of the way through and it is a very revealing insight to how long it took to make it (financially). His dealing with feelings of depression and his honest assessment of how difficult he often made relationships is instructive. The description of the making of albums is great to read. Don't always like all his work since first buying into him in the early 80s ( I don't get Tom Joad) but as a child of the folk era in the early sixties I loved the Seeger Sessions. I vary between the rock sounds of guitar bands with the more acoustic material but he is the Boss
  6. He played for their winning Youth team last season whilst still playing for Airdrie towards the end. I think he scored for us in the last game of season at Ayr after that.
  7. Kate Andrews is her name and she is with the Institute for Economic Affairs. Mark Littlewood from the IEA expressed positive views on Scottish Independence recently so maybe she is of an independent mind herself. I think she is a Registered republican but did not support the Donald
  8. I can see what you mean by "attractive" but her "free market" ideas are often way out, although in an American sense she might be moderate.
  9. I find the American "girl" annoying when she appears on Sky along with Carol Malone/Michelle Dewberry/Julia Heartless Brewer and above all others that smarmy faced Andrew Pearce. But I am of course biased. It was interesting to hear the Yank referring to "us" in discussions about the UK as I believe she remains a US citizen? She also said the SNP was in the same place as UKIP so her political grasp is weak. UKIP of course sits at the heart of the May government
  10. Yes well summarized. She also could not give an answer to the EU citizens question because she was not in the PM's position of making a decision. Yet she spends entire weeks attacking any decision made by the FM. Wee sook keeping in with Theresa. I also did not quite grasp Dumbleby's comment about Carlisle still being in England? Mind you that paled in comparison to Andrew Neill saying later that Nicola Sturgeon was planning to rebuild Hadrians wall so maybe he knows something we don't about a hard border.
  11. According to Wikipedia but not the BBC Section 2 of the Act also provides for two ways in which a general election can be held before the end of this five-year period:[2] If the House of Commons resolves "That this House has no confidence in Her Majesty's Government", an early general election is held, unless the House of Commons subsequently resolves "That this House has confidence in Her Majesty's Government". This second resolution must be made within fourteen days of the first. If the House of Commons, with the support of two-thirds of its total membership (including vacant seats), resolves "That there shall be an early parliamentary general election". In either of these two cases, the Monarch (on the recommendation of the prime minister) appoints the date of the new election by proclamation. Parliament is then dissolved 25 working days before that date.
  12. Did not know that ; I am sure I heard it being discussed on the Daily Politics but it was A the BBC and Andrew Neill.
  13. I think the WestminsterFT Act needs a 2/3 majority to overturn it, or the government of the day proposes a vote of No confidence which if lost on a simple majority, allows the main opposition party a period of time to persuade the Monarch that it can form a government. I am not sure if there is a time limit of 2 weeks but if they cant gain majority( or anyone else from the opposition benches), the monarch dissolves Westminster. Theresa May will not do the latter.
  14. Yes I spotted this last night but AN let her away with that inconsistency. He usually grills everyone else .My local election leaflet has Ruth Davidson quoting it as a "once in a lifetime" ,and then adds on decision in no quotes. I may be wrong but I am sure it was "opportunity" or "chance". It was a prisoner of a comment at the time but like many others ,I had the holiday of a lifetime once in my early days but I have revisited holidays many times since then.
  15. I think you are right that "constitutionalist" debate does attract more support but I don't know if seven years of a council tax freeze was in many ways a lowering of council tax? I can't think of many parties in Scotland or the UK who have actually lowered Council tax when in power?
  16. Thanks for info. So you think that concentrating/diverting onto a referendum campaign attracts more subscriptions than improving lives via the "Day Job"?
  17. Just caught up tonight with debate. Did you mean the Trident subs?
  18. "UKIP reinventing themselves as a jock-bashing party" Before the 2015 election, their policy was to abolish Holyrood/end the Barnett consequentials ,amongst other jolly japes .Any time Farage/Nutall et alia were on TV they merrily quoted the subsidy junkies line. One of the best was about ending the subsidies pouring north over Hadrians wall; now a mainstream geography view of the Welsh Conservative leader of course. But yes they could develop it even more and get the Daily mail to back them in this Union of equals.
  19. They could also let Cockburn take the lead North of the "border" to appeal to the anti metropolitan elite?(Irony)
  20. Carswell has now left an independence Party in order to become an Independent MP. Maybe his next move is to join another Independence Party? I am confused.
  21. Having experienced Gordon Dalziel and Mark Wilson this season, I suspect Willie Rennie who can face two different ways in the same referendum views , is our manager!
  22. Yes I did see all that and he would never get my vote( Nor an other Tory) but it is good to shout at the telly when he gets so much wrong.
  23. I quite like Jacob when you know he is at the wind up. I may be wrong but I am sure he said last night that the leave vote in Scotland was as close as you can get to 40%. If his pedantry extends to sums, then 39% would be that figure. I think it was 32% which is much closer to 30%. If Jacob's approach to sums works like this he should replace Phillip Hammond as soon as possible and the UK deficit will vanish overnight.
