  1. I wondered if it was a deliberate attempt to show we were good and not dire at all. Keep up the great work.
  2. Excellent stuff even if we were not "Airdire" and you spotted me moving from the terrace to the stand!
  3. Agreed on the football analysis but I would have liked a choice of where to view the game given inclement weather likelihood. And the sight lines are always better side on even if I had to sit, side on! On a sunny day who knows!
  4. Yep it was dug out and given the long grass it was great to see. So happy to see Lewis score and a battling style was needed but we did have some lovely passing moves. So many late chances which would have let me relax. We ended up with a strange shape and players after Todororov came on and in the dry stand I detected a few groans about Gabby going off! Thistle/Raith/Morton now beaten so we've got to be pleased at this opening spell.
  5. On the game I was not surprised to see Morton mainly be direct while we occasionally overplayed in the late period when our counter attacks offered good chances. The spell in the first half before we scored, was dominated by Morton and the post saved us again, like last week. I've not seen Morton obviously but they don't look relegation material in effort terms but I was surprised to see Muirhead wasting his time wide right, and Boyd's career has hardly advanced. As others have said Morton appeared to simply sling the ball eventually into the box but our back four and goalie were rarely in trouble. Frizzell was the best player on the park despite such a poorly awarded yellow card. Good to see McGregor scoring. On the subject of the rain etc I was allowed in the stand and it remains a puzzle as to why Morton were unwilling to allow these senior citizens ( and others) a choice to purchase a seated area, even if they're only suitable for short legged chaps.
  6. They don't ! They play mainly friendlies at the training ground or sometimes a "big team" at Ibrox but they were allowed to put a team into this cup presumably by the SPFL. Rubbish.
  7. Arbroath 2 Inverness 1 Ayr united 2 Raith Rovers 2 Dundee United 2 Queens Park 1 Morton 1 Airdrieonians 1 Partick Thistle 2 Dunfermline Athletic 0
  8. Have I missed out on this week's fixtures I have no idea how to copy and paste!
  9. It's refreshing to see something different from the usual merry go round but his record at FGR was not very good I believe. Surely bound to get more out of the team than Dodds but I hope not.
  10. Thanks for the information and the weather forecast. I once had a great walk around the Greenock Cut in lovely sunshine, and the views were spectacular so that's what I'm looking for.
  11. We were well beaten in the playoffs during the Covid season and there's been improvement in our squad over the last period and not just dependency on a few players. Last time I was at Cappielow it was being squeezed into the old stand and I wonder if the wee Dublin end is the open bit behind the goal? If Morton have a limited squad then we might overcome our recent away defeats but it's a funny old game! Lewis McGregor was released by Morton so I'd suspect he would want to put on a good show. One of my friends was a keen Morton fan and that amazing turn around so many years ago, always remained a happy talking point for me, in the end, less so for him. Hope the weather is decent if we're outdoor!
  12. Thank you Callum Gallagher for today, and Gabby! It was fairly even but great to send the ex Airdrie guys home empty handed. Happy chap tonight after last week.
  13. Will catch up with previous posts but I'm delighted to have earned that win with a smashingly flowing move, submlimely finished by Callum Gallagher. Good to inflict Rovers first loss, and our first win for so many years. Felt we shaded the first half hour and might well have been in front but great save by Goalie. However Raith edged the latter part and indeed but for Rae's great save and a lucky crossbar , we'd have been behind. Thought our defence were more solid than last week, obviously, and the game was quite entertaining. Could not fathom why Easton was stuck out wide and he had a better second half. Raith clearly are a well drilled side but lacked a real punch up front. Much prefer Aitken and McMaster and Frizzell in our middle three but our wingers never really got going till the second half. Interesting to see Ballantyne back at RB and Hancock had a good game against Mullin. Great home form and given Arbroath beating Thistle, maybe last week was not unexpected.
  14. Queens Park 2 Ayr united 1 Airdrieonians 1 Raith Rovers 1 Dunfermline Athletic 2 Morton 2 Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1 Dundee United 2 Partick Thistle 2 Arbroath 1
  15. Watched it on my big TV and your breadth of coverage of the whole day visit was excellent. Pity about the wind drowning out some of the stuff. Good to see Arbroath fans on it, and it seems to have gone down well on their P/B site.
  16. Watched the footage and some of our attacking at the far end was a bit better than what I could see from the wee stand, but Arbroath were just more determined to defend, whereas we were wide open in those final minutes.I'm still concerned like others about our squad quality and some of the "keep the ball" moving slowly up the park, but I'm willing to be proved wrong, just so we can put Ian Murray's gas on a peep.
  17. Now the grand sum of three quid for the pleasure of the away car park But as others say a prompt arrival in nearby streets is available. I have rarely seen us beat Raith, home or away, for some time but it would be good to dent your good start and give the ex Diamonds a salutary defeat. However after the Arbroath experience, I have yet to restore my optimism.
  18. I'm loath to defend him and I tried to see him thinking: 1 I've made a mess but I've been booked already and if I chase after , Napier will send me off 2 I'm just back from an injury so I've lost a bit of pace although I'm not the quickest 3 I know I can't catch him but our sweeper goalie is there 4 I can't gee myself as it's last minute. Clutching at straws by me!
  19. I usually go terracing but someone paid me in to the stand!
  20. Good to know our support made an impact unlike the teamThanks for info on the number 6 and I think if Arbroath score first in games you'll be hard to break down, and do look capable of scoring now. Was in the wee stand today and those narrow rows are uncomfortable for long legged guys like me! Just a minor moan .
  21. We started quite well ( for five minutes) and I did wonder how close the Gallagher offside "goal" was but after that we had no idea how to use the slight breeze advantage. Arbroath took control although Watson was culpable for both goals. Credit to Hylton for real skill in scoring the second but dilly dallying will be punished in most games. There were some good tackles and bad ones but Napier seems unable to distinguish. I like Ricky Little but he was bound to get a second with that foul. Thought Arbroath then simply reorganised and recognised that Airdrie would spend ages passing about mainly sideways. The wee sub for us did commit a yellow card offence at the first but the second was a joke, and did feel like pleasing the crowd after riling them much earlier. The only credit to give to him was stopping on the 90th minute! We did hit the post but that crazy period at the end sums up how easily we got caught out. Harsh lessons for Rhys who was not at his best today and it kinda spread through the team. Wingers who dinnae wing will not do. On Arbroath I liked Hylton and the number 6 while in general there were no weaknesses in tactics nor players. The mince pie was good and a wee bit of sunshine was a bonus.
  22. Can't see myself but there are a few I should get. Mind you I could be wrong about the players as well. Year? Marvin Wilson? I'm not in it.
  23. I did indeed mention it but it was my club archivist car sharer who told me. Has Rhys ever scored with a headed goal? Watched the club highlights package and I'd go for the Montrose one.
