  1. Just getting ready to get the scarf and jacket on and take the stroll to NDP for the first time in a while. We had good draws away at Forfar and Stenhousemuir in recent weeks, hopefully we can keep up performances and get 3pts today. They only beat us at Boghead with a soft penalty. Team selection may be interesting today ,with hopefully our recent injured players getting themselves into contention.

The Rose have not had many 0-0 over the last few years, so I doubt that score. Hope it’s Forfar nil as I have a feeling Robbie may change our goalie today and Mikey Andrews will play a blinder. Look forward to my trip and of course the local delicacy A Bridie, if the best are not served at the ground where in town can we sample the best bridie?

  3. Well it’s back to NDP this afternoon when Elgin City come to town, it seems like only a few weeks ago that we were up at their ground, where we were poor on the day and lost an early goal. We showed a lot more fight and character last week where it was disappointing that we only had 1 shot on goal but scored from it. We have not had much luck in many games this season, hopefully that will change today and again I plead for us to score the first goal of the game, which I am sure will help our confidence.

I've watched the highlights now and it looks like 15 pushes Kai in the way of the left back's foot. A soft one, but a penalty for me.

That said, McGachie is completely taken out in the box near the end. How a penalty wasn't given there defies belief???  Rose definitely hard done by there. As for Connolly's second booking, that is a fair challenge for a ball running loose and it's the ball he plays. For me not even a foul, never mind a booking.

PS I'd appeal against that sending off.

Correct never a foul. Referees need to learn to watch the direction of the ball after a challenge to help them with their decision. I thought you were unable to appeal a red card for 2 yellow card offences. It’s a shame The Roses highlights don’t show the incident where Connolly received his first yellow card after an Albion player came flying through the air causing  Connolly to get out of the way of a possible serious injury. In summary 2 yellow cards for doing nothing and receiving a red card from the Headmaster. A totally shocking decision, the Ref needs a few weeks on the naughty step!!!

They remind me of Edinburgh City when they came into the league.  Well organised, physical, a lot of petty fouling and time wasting when ahead - anything to ensure survival.  I think they'll be ok although I can't see them getting into the top four.  But that's only based on the two games I've seen them play against stirling.

Couple of players looked pretty good - number 11 looked a good passer of the ball and number 17 covered the whole park - but I think they'll struggle to score.  Smith looks a bit long in the tooth and the guy that came on looked overweight and did nothing to endear himself to the Stirling fans by repeatedly diving.  Not a good look when you're that size

But they're a welcome addition to the league and Edinburgh have shown what you can do if you build sensibly over time.  Good luck for the rest of the season (unless you're playing Stirling of course)

Time wasting when ahead!!!!!! Your having a laugh. We have very rarely been ahead in any game this season to resort to that tactic. Any team that has scored the first goal against us seems to result in that team wasting time and the referees letting them away with it. All teams now pinch yards at free kicks throw ins and get away with it , but you can’t take a quick free kick till the school teacher gets his tin of paint out to mark two white lines on the pitch.
I don’t like to slag off referees but the joker in the purple jersey had a shocker for both teams. It was never a penalty and as for the sending off both yellow cards were a joke.

Just a wee note for Bonnyrigg fans for tomorrow's game at Stirling.  It's cash only at the turnstiles.

Thank you. Your club’s entry fee is perfectly acceptable unlike some club in this division who reside in Fife. Look forward to a trip to the current League leaders. Although we won by a penalty goal at our first meeting at NDP both teams have had different fortunes since. Gonna be difficult for The Rose and would be happy to return to Bonnyrigg with a point.

  7. Well it was a rather dreich day in Clackmannanshire in more ways than one. Agree with the post above the step up has been a challenge after the promising start to the season. Will be interesting to see what develops in the next few weeks. Gets no easier next Saturday when we visit the League leaders.

P.S Well done to great club servant Alan Horne who gets a well deserved testimonial game this afternoon. What a class act he has been for the Rose in his time at NDP.

  8. So a trip along the M8 this afternoon to the metropolis of Coatbridge and the Cliftonville stadium. More new spectator viewing experience for me. I have said it the last few weeks that we need to score the first goal and that could be vitally important today. Be interesting to see what changes Robbie makes to his selection today after last Saturday. Let’s come back with 3pts lads.

The fitba is back following last week's unnecessary (imo) postponments.

This will be the first ever league match between the clubs although I'm reliably informed that there were two Scottish cup ties in a bygone era and unfortunately the scores were left unrecorded.

Will the Rosey-Posey close the gap back to five points or will the Sons equal Forfar Athletic's L2 record of starting a season with seven consecutive wins?

Well my grey matter seems to be working a lot better than yours. Bonnyrigg Rose were drawn at home to Dumbarton and drew nil-nil. Tour goalkeeper was the Man of the match.  The replay at Dumbarton on 7th December 2016. It pissed of rain the whole game and “The Rose” scored the winner through a magnificent 20yd strike from Adam Nelson in the 84th minute.

The Rose were a Junior football club at the time and an away victory for a junior club against a Championship club maybe a record that the Rose cherish and embarrass Dumbarton.

That embarrassing defeat may be the reason it it unrecorded in the Dumbarton archives.

  10. I enjoyed the game yesterday it was a proper game. The board room shenanigans at Stirling did not appear to affect the players performance on the pitch. Thought it was a penalty and well put away by Neily. We had to put up with an onslaught on our goal at the end and held out. A great 3pts at the end of the day. Now look forward to a trip to the Heilands next Saturday.

  11. Well it’s a lovely morning. Look forward to a gentle stroll to the Boomtown Bernebeau later on when we face new opposition again. I am sure Robbie will have the boys fired up after last weeks disappointing performance and result. I have read that there is a bit of discontent in the Stirling Albion board room. (Old social media posts causing trouble. What a surprise). Would be nice if it affected the Binos performance on the pitch but I doubt that. Hopefully a better outcome for us come 4.50pm today.
