I’m sure he lives in Lanark so must’ve put some miles in for that Arbroath job, maybe doesn’t fancy it this time.

Rab Douglas lives in Broughty Ferry, next to Dundee. He owns a hotel there and has spoke about it previously on various podcasts and on X mate

  2. Always seen Greig as one of football's good guys, and glad to see he has walked away rather than face the bullet, especially from a club that he holds dear. However, and I posted this on here a couple of times last season, he never really seemed to learn from the mistakes that he made from his time at us. Despite a stint on the staff Annan between leaving Stirling and joining East Fife where some people thought he would have "learned the tools of the trade" before stepping back into the hot seat, but he obviously didn't.

If you can entice the Campbell's, along with Young and Douglas to Methil, then that really would be something for you to get excited about.

Somehow, we'll end up with Israel again.

Are any of the matches scheduled before the Euro finals?

No, Nations League starts after the Euros.

Croatia, Hungary and Poland for me as well, sod seeing the stars at Hampden, I just want to see Scotland win and this group would be competitive.

Ground was empty yesterday 226 crowd and most of them seemed to be Kelty fans.

All the faces/fans you used to see follow us at Ainslie Park have stopped coming to Meadowbank.

I know Edinburgh fans will be fed up answering this question, and I know that previously the answer was no, however with the financial pressures that have come out over the past month or two and with the current board now reviewing income streams closer, are there any plans to look at other local stadiums??

I’m not going to patronise your fans, you know the complaints, but if it’s putting people (like me) off coming, and there’s no scope to change what’s already in place, then surely the next best thing is to look at other options?? Surely there are better options out there for next season and moving forward?

  5. Despite us having the best of the First Half and Cove having the best of the Second, I can’t help but think it was 2 points dropped by us this afternoon.

I think the difference between the 2 sides ended up being the 2 early Jack Leitch efforts, and he missed another good 1 early in the Second, however if he connects properly, a Cooper did last week, with the 2 early cuts backs then the game really is out of sight for Cove early on.

Frustratingly however, we also allowed Cove to get back into it, after Carrick’s second goal. A few supporters around me were complaining about the Defending, but I thought it was good play by Cove and the only criticism was that Clark jumped in to make the block, but that’s been a bit over critical.

Something I’m not going to hold back in criticism is the near side Linesman. What was that actually about?? Be a man, put your hands up and say you’ve made a mistake and move on from it, don’t gesture and goad the crowd before reporting fans to be removed, absolutely embarrassing. The break where it all “kicked off”, was clearly offside, a whole section of people can’t be wrong. A couple of the shouts were uncalled for but nothing that doesn’t come with the territory. The officiating was sadly poor, it’s quite remarkable that so many Cove players fall over when anyone goes near them, it really is an art. Now I’m not saying there were no fouls but it’s quite staggering the diving that goes on amongst that Cove squad, people simply fall to the ground, even when there’s not a challenge, like Megginson when Paul McLean came near him, just before the Lineman’s tantrum.

Well done to Dale Carrick, I say it all the time but we are so lucky to have him and it was another good 90 minutes for him, like so many others. 2 points dropped, but I would have taken the point before kick off and fair play to the 30 odd Cove fans for coming along to say hi, well done!

  6. Although I don’t think Aberdeen have any intention of going for Young, I do wonder if/why any Full Time offers have ever/never been on the table for him. He had Albion Rovers punching above their weight, and arguably East Fife too, and he’s obviously doing a grand job with ourselves.

When you consider his background in the game and some of the other people who’ve had a stab at Full Time football, I do wonder why guys like Young, Petrie and maybe even Naismith get overlooked.

  7. Really excited about the game…..so that’s a warning sign if there ever was one 😂

The performance last week, the signings in January and the depth of squad, makes me excited that we can be competitive on a weekly basis and will take points from games, especially when side’s aren’t quite on it and by the sound of the posts above and the performances I have seen from Cove this season, I don’t think we have anything to fear, so have a chance.

  8. I really hope the move helps Turnbull kick on, there's a good squad being built at Cardiff and they try and play. I think he's a good player, and we all know that he can hit the net from range, however for becoming one of the nations top players, I can't help but think his lack of pace holds him back a bit. Likeable lad that scores worldies, like what he does with the ball and my fingers are crossed for him as I do think he could be an asset for Scotland.

I've been trying to get my lad a new away top for going to Germany in June and using the official SFA website as a guide the only path seems to be towards JD Sports who then only seem to have XXL tops avaliable?!  Are we anticipating the release of a new shirt in advance of the Euro's?

Yip, spoke to someone at JD Sports in Cumbernauld about the Away top during the last campaign, as my son was looking for it. They were out of stock but when I asked if they would be getting more in, the Woman checked the system and said it had been "discontinued so they didn't have any left overs for the new strip arriving next year".

As @Sherrif John Bunnell has said, from memory, I'm sure the new kits go on sale about March time, so the design should be released pretty soon.

Yep, I was based up at Peterhead power station during the Alex Ferguson years at Aberdeen and like you watched many games at Pittodrie.  For me the big difference is the huge growth in financial disparity between clubs now as compared to back then.  In those days at the top level most clubs had a majority of home-grown Scots players whereas now you'll struggle to find Scots players in the top sides and especially in the OF.  The financial gap between the OF and all other clubs up here is now just enormous such that no other club can now win the top league, 40 of the 42 clubs are effectively removed from that particular competition.  That financial disparity means that the top clubs are recruiting from a wider pool of (supposedly) higher quality players outside of the home-grown market.

I can understand how fans of a good PT club like Montrose are frustrated, as a fan of a struggling FT club like QOS I'm also frustrated at the difficulty in attempting to break "glass ceilings".  For me the biggest problem lies in the tiny 10 team league structures, with the top league of 12 having been effectively formed as a cartel designed to make it difficult for the well-heeled clubs to fall out of, and for the diddy clubs to achieve entry to - and it was all about greed and maximising the revenue from the OF matches and ensuring 2 home games a season against each of the OF.  I'd like to think that QOS could always be capable of establishing decent runs at Championship level but I'm old and wise enough to know that the top league will probably always now be outside of our grasp.  For me the solution for clubs like Montrose and QOS is larger leagues.

As for your first point about the top league and challenging the OF ... well, that can no longer happen.  There, I see only two alternatives:

1 - The OF are forced by the league to disperse their profits down through the leagues (aye, like that will ever happen ...) to attempt some kind of levelling up and hence introduce some vague appearance of competition back into the top flight, or far more likely ...

2 - The OF leave our league for the huge financial attraction of European leagues, which are not now merely a pipe dream with the approach of European super league discussions and UEFA alternatives.  The OF have outgrown our league (similar is the case in other European leagues) and without them our league although arguably of poorer quality would be much more competitive (and of course without all the dark stuff that comes with the OF).

This is why I come on here, through all the petty rubbish that you have to wade through, you'll always find that odd nugget of gold. Well said @Otis Blue!

Thanks for your post. On the radio this morning, I heard that Scottish Parliament is looking at having some kind of football "Tsar" as they look like introducing in England and Wales to oversee the game and make authorities more accountable. My only worry is we end up with another Henry McLeish, whom I didn't rate at all.

i'm all for this personally, however it has to be the right person for the job. Simply having another yes man, pandering like Neil Doncaster does or David Longmuir and Henry McLeish did (in their respective roles) does nobody any favours.

That club statement is very well worded, and indicates that the club is going to survive, despite all the recent turmoil.

Hopefully that shuts up a few folk on Twitter, who despite supporting clubs at the same or similar levels to us, have been praying on our downfall (even though one day, their own club may be struggling too). Us City fans have got long memories, and always keep our receipts 😉

Great news, however I don't think Twitter is necessarily a good judge of opinion. There's a lot of good will out there for clubs at this level, to other clubs at this level, and that should be remembered. I'm sure I speak for the majority when I say that I don't want you to die, but I don't want to view games at your stadium.

It's embarrassing all the young kids kitted out in their stone island and balaclavas trying to act hard. Ours seem to range from around 9 to 13-14 at a push. They kept running back and forth to the gate from behind the goal. Someone will end up badly hurt or even dead if it keeps carrying on.

Not sure what clubs can do to combat it, can refuse entry to known faces and kick people out. We can't rely on having a strong police presence every week. Although realistically, 6/7 police weren't going to do much if it kicked off and a bunch of Falkirk fans ran away up Hawkhill whilst being escorted by the police.

When I was that age and going to the Recs with pals, you used to be able to walk all round the ground and the supporters swapped ends at half time. From grounds I've been to recently, it's only been Kelty that didn't have fans separated.

I was in Asda Alloa at about 1730 on Saturday and it all kicked off at the Train Station. Not sure if there were any arrests or anything like that but there were certainly a couple of police cars and the Asda Security ran up to get involved in the action as all the youngsters dressed in black started doing whatever they were doing.

All just  a little bit embarrassing really, same with our ultras and their antics.

Wasn't sure about posting this but there was racist neanderthal a few rows along from me shouting "get the immigrant off now" when Kelty's Biabi went in heavy. Can do without that. West Stand on the left of the main hospitality section looking onto the pitch, about 2/3rds back. Had kids with him as well.

Sad to read, that sort of thing isn’t welcome at Forthbank, or in Scotland. This is 2024 for crying out loud. Please do the right thing and report it to the club, don’t wait for it to happen again.

Anyone else notice how unfit Jack Leitch is at the moment? He was struggling throughout the 2nd half until he was hooked. Obviously has great delivery from corners etc and I think that’s the main reason he’s in the team. But he looked like he was blowing out his arse for most of yesterday.

As has been said, I think that’s just Jack, and the way he is, don’t think he has “looked fit” since he signed. I have been critical of him this season, but I thought he did well yesterday, after a poor start, but was an odd choice for Man of the Match….even he was shocked at that, as was James Creaney and the Albion bench. I can only imagine someone really wanted to meet him.

Onto the game, and it was a game of 2 half’s for us. I don’t think we were poor in the First Half, but I do think the game plan was to be more structured, hard to break down and to not give anything away. I thought we did that well, but were wasteful on the ball at times, however, Kelty never looked like getting through and we had a couple of half chances before scoring from a lovely bit of set play.

Second Half was totally different, and with the ball, probably the best we have played all season. I thought some of our phases of play were top notch, especially the 3 Cooper goals, but more so the one that came all the way from Currie in goals.

I’ve said it on here before, but Cooper has been one of our best players this season, I don’t get why he plays second fiddle to Leitch at times, but once again he has given the manager a selection headache with his (deserved) Hattrick.

Talking of selection headache’s. I think yesterday shows the contrast of the squad from earlier in the season. It was only a month or so ago where Darren probably looked at his bench and saw a bunch of Development Squad players that just weren’t ready, or just not good enough for the jump. Now, he has a host of quality players to call on that he knows will make an impact going forward or to shut up shop, which is great to see.

I read an interview from Roy Hodgeson who said “fans look at our starting lineup, but what they don’t understand is the finishing lineup is more important”, I think yesterday, we had a good example of that, and fully deserved our 3 points.

Guy's on another note it's much appreciated for your respect before the game and also the 16th minute in in memory of Murray Dowey 👏

Hopefully he's up above with the Angels smiling at his Bino's victory today 🇵🇪 ❤️

Today was our day, we were clinical & have been waiting on this all season,

Congratulations Josh on your hatrick ⚽⚽⚽👏👏👏 everyone of them a great finish 🇵🇪

Would just like to second this, well done everyone who was there 👏🏻👏🏻

Pumped by a very average team who actually shot when they could unlike us , very bad day at the office so away to hit the red wine

“Very average team”……sounds like you had hit the red wine earlier in the afternoon. Bit of a heads gone comment from one of Kelty’s more reliable posters. Disappointing.

  16. Just read the news on Facebook that Darren Young has signed a 2 year extension at the club.

I’m absolutely delighted with the news and glad it’s been sorted early to allow him to continue to build for next season, rather than it all being left to the last minute.

Genuinely think Young’s appointment has been the best thing to happen to the club in recent times. This view isn’t solely down to winning the league last season but more the feeling you get with regards to the playing side of the club, take away his initial firefighting when he first came in, his signings have been by and large good, and even those that maybe didn’t quite work, none have been a disaster and the squad has continued to improve under his leadership.

He’s a safe pair of hands, that I was delighted to get in the first place but has remained so for 2 and a half years now and I look forward to seeing just how far he can take us.

Those players and the staff deserve a sporting chance to avoid relegation, and the fans deserve a chance to watch them try, they've earned that right and for some of these players it could have been career defining and a springboard to bigger things. To have that chance taken away by an off the pitch decision that had nothing to do with them is heartbreaking.

Points deductions never sit comfortably to me, doesn't matter if it's Everton or Edinburgh City, the punishment is on the wrong people as the charlatans that put you in this mess are still unaffected. Those suffering now are the players, management team, board and supporters of the club. Gotta feel for those people, but there also has to be a better way to punish clubs that find themselves in this situation by going for the people that put them in it in the first instance.

Will G.Southgate call up a huge squad and possibly give these lads a feint hope of future selections or will he stick with his tried and tested and possibly just possibly leaving S.Clarke to swoop for all 4

I'm going off topic here, but Southgate strikes me as being very similar to Clarke, in that he likes his tried and tested. He has found players that fit into the system, it works, so why change it......in fact, you could probably argue that Southgate is less likely than Clarke for change, and I just don't see him doing this. I've heard the interviews where he says he is considering Gordon and Anderson, but what he says and what he does, seems to be 2 different things and in Anderson's case (probably the case of the 4 Newcastle players actually), he's got stronger options to try and keep happy in the short term.
