As a former SSP member and someone that got to know Colin very very well during this time, he's exactly the kind of guy that Scottish politics needs and someone who speaks well, debates well and is very knowledgeable in the goings ons. However the SSP are truly a basket case of a party with so many faults. They're good at campaigning streets and standing united with workers on picket lines etc etc but actually do nothing....when this is questioned, all you get is "but we're a small party that needs to grow first"......how you grow without actually standing for elections is beyond me. How long does a party need to stand still before it grows?
So yes, Colin (and Richie Venton) are excellent politicians, whether you agree with their political stance or not, but you'll probably never get the chance to vote for them and in some way that's a pity because they do have a lot to offer.

To answer your questions: Pubs near the ground, you only have the Springkerse View ( The Springkerse View Pub Restaurant in Stirling (greeneking.co.uk) ) which is in walking distance. You have the cricket club also, but I've not been there for a few years now and I'm not sure what time it open etc etc. If you want a pint before hand, then head to the Springkerse View or stay in the City Centre would be my advice.
Getting to the ground, the bus station is right next door to the train station, get the park and ride shuttle bus and it'll take you straight to Forthbank/Stirling Village. Buses are every 5-10 minutes and are cheap. You'll see the stadium when you get off the bus, and the Springskerse View is in the same estate, but maybe about 5 mins from the bus stop. With your Dad having a stick, you can't walk that. It's a long straight road but it'll be too far for him mate, get the bus or grab a taxi from the train station.

Cameron McKinley signs from Stirling University.
Never seen him play, but 27 goals in 64 appearances in the Lowland League is a good return, so fingers crossed he can step up and do well.

Every season I read this from people...and I'm not sure how they think that. Since the Play Offs were introduced, I tend to find the team with the most momentum are the one that achieves the aim. It's not fool proof of course, but as a generalisation.

Would have to agree with you on this one, a win for you and I think it would come down to ourselves and Annan. I really don't want this threat to go to the last day, so I hope you crumble on Saturday but I'm sure both teams will be up for it.

As someone who comes from a West Brom supporting family, and supporters them as my English side, this is incredibly harsh on Phillips. His career has sadly been hampered by injuries and he is in fact just coming back from another one. I have no doubt if he had steered clear of them, he would have played at a higher level than he has and would have and would have picked up a lot more Scotland caps, which he spoke about previously of being frustrated that he was only able to represent the country on 20 (from memory) occasions and it being during a relatively bleak time for the nation.
Anyway, gutted for Ferguson, especially after the season he has had. Having watched my son go through the same injury, I know how tough it can be for him....despite the op being private and the best of health care no doubt. Really wish him a speedy recovery and hopefully he can pick up where he left off this time next year.

I'm sure he only signed until the summer but I might be wrong. Would be gutted to see him leave, he improves our squad massively and hasn't even played Left Back for us yet. If we are both in League 1 next season, I would have to say that it would surprise me, but I suppose time will tell. I certainly hope not.

My bum certainly is, time to panic if we don' get the 3 points on Saturday, but that's not to say that it's not squeaking and being a little restless......the truth of the matter is, I'm f-king sh-tting bricks and hope the players are calmer than me.
QoS fans (on here) are honest in their own judgements of their team, however it doesn't seem that long ago where we were in Dumfries and they were battering our goal and were unfortunate not to pick up 3 points, when we scored a last minute equaliser.

Congratulations East Kilbride and to MK, his coaching team and to the players involved.
People can point to the money and the conveyor belt of signings all they want, however the league still actually has to be won.

I'll predict that Leitch will start along with Milne. I don't know what it is, but if you look over the course of the season, it's clear that Darren Young sees them as vital players in the side and won't be seen without them. Cooper should have replaced Leitch some time ago (in the eyes of the fans I know) but never has, and Milne probably wouldn't have made as many appearances as he has done either. I don't like being critical of our players, but it's hard not to be with those 2 (and if they read this, then prove me wrong) yet Young continually starts them, so I predict both will start again on Saturday and will produce the same kind of performance that supporters have become used to.
I think Geeks and Hilson will be on the bench though. Have spoken about Hilson in the Alloa thread, and don't want to repeat myself. Like everyone, I love Geeks and hope to see him become a 1 club man, he'll give you all he has but at times that's not enough at this level. It's a much of a muchness between him and Scouse at RB, but I suspect Scouse will come in for him after he was taken off at Half Time on Saturday, and to be fair on Scouse, he did well when he came on and made a good few runs where the ball should have been played out to him but it never came.

Likewise. Promotion last season was more of a relief than anything (for me) and I'm in no rush to go back. What's a clubs natural level?? I suppose it could be argued on many levels, however I see ours as being here in League 1 and I think it's a travesty to the club and to the city when we are in League 2, so I'm desperate to stay. What I would say though, is that if you take Falkirk away from the league and you introduce Arbroath and maybe Inverness, then attendances aren't much bigger than League 2 next season....so I suppose that's the bright side if it does happen.

100% agree with the line that I highlighted above. Regardless of what happens, I don't think the change should be the manager. There were rumblings that he was working with exactly the same budget as last season, so if this is true, then I am assuming it's one of the lowest in the league and as I posted a few months ago, by and large, the signings he has made have been positive and he has brought a squad together that seem to be playing for him. Where Darren is at fault, and I posted this in the Alloa match thread, is that I do think he has been overly loyal to a number of players who have simply not hit the heights regularly enough this season.
I think we're a squad that is just running out of steam, it's a long hard season and we're not one that is blessed with goals, so we are relying on hard work and putting in a "guts and snot" performance every week. We saw a lot of that in the first 2 or 3 quarters of the season, but we are now in a position where we are not now. It's not down to attitude, I think it's simply down to just running on empty and that kind of thing only takes you so far.
4 games to go, I still think we are safe if we win 2 of them. Beat Edinburgh and beat either QoS and Annan and we'll have done it ourselves, if not then we are relying on other teams doing it for us. I would still rather be in our position than Annan's and I still have faith that this squad can put in 2 big performances to get us over the line, however I'd be telling fibs if I said I wasn't worried. If we do go into the Play Off then I definitely think we are done for.

Yip, it's been a total nightmare for Blair this one, however I'm sure he will bounce back from it. I don't know him personally but you get the impression he's a calm individual and a level headed guy. He never seems to get too up nor down.
To defend him though, I think he switched off because the ball seemed to go out of play. I'd not argue that it did, because I couldn't be sure, but I think he's switched off from that. He put his hands up and apologised to the bench pretty instantly, he knew he had made a hash of it. Call it Goalkeepers union or whatever, but I don't think Currie needs to apologise to anyone, he's a solid enough Goalkeeper for this level and he has saved us so many point this season alone.....and also in the past. I watch other Goalkeepers at this level and regularly think he's 1 of the best Part Time Goalkeepers about, and it would take someone special to displace him for me (certainly not Mark Weir).
A (vocal) section of our support are critical of him for his distribution, but I think he has improved massively on that part of his game, his kicking is far more accurate now than it was when he joined us from Clyde.
Yip, he's had a howler 2 weeks on the trot, but I'm hoping it doesn't effect him too much because over the season he's been one of our star performers and I hope the section of our support that want to shout nonsense at him remember this the next time he has a clanger.

This has been going on for a number of years now and the truth is that the club don't want to get involved and are happy to turn a blind eye. The stewarding at Forthbank is an absolute joke, Stewards are simply there to be a presence and do nothing, not a thing, about anything that goes on. Happy to pick up the cash and go home having stood around for a couple of hours. You only have to see the way the regular Stewards act on a Saturday, you can see they don't want confrontation.
You just need to look at the amount of people who stand between the last row of seats at the Morrisons End. This is an accident waiting to happen, yet Stewards happily walk past every week and do nothing about it. Club Officials see what's going on and do nothing about it. You pay your money, so what......seems to be the attitude from everyone at the club.

Absolute disaster today, embarrassingly so, but full credit to Alloa for picking us off and for coasting for much of the match. Although PJ Morrison pulled off 2 or 3 top saves, we got what we deserve as we were simply abject for long periods.
If we do end up in the Play Off position, or relegated, then Darren Young really only has himself to blame. I absolutely love the gaffer and have admired him at other clubs and supported him since his appointment (and still do) but all season, we’ve watched the same players under perform week after week after week and continually be selected. Clark, Milne, Leitch and Hilson have been woeful this season, yet start most weeks. When at least 4 of your starting 11 regularly aren’t up to it, it only takes another 1 or 2 to be off it and the side crumbles and today was that day.
League tables don’t lie, Alloa are a good side with quality throughout, so to get anything off them we need everyone hitting the same levels as they did at the start of the season, and we’re not seeing that. The physicality and grit is seriously missing from this team now, the aggression is coming from Cane but he can’t do it all, and had an off day today.
The big hole in the middle of the field is exploited time and time again, fans can moan all they want about fouls we didn’t get but ultimately if we can’t plug that gap then the likes of Sutherland and Roberts are going to drive into that space and do what they did. He might not be as technical as others but when you’re at the bottom scrapping like we are then you have to have that solid unit in Midfield and Banner has to be alongside Crane, not a sand dancer like Leitch.
The abuse Currie received from a section of our support was out of line imho. Yip, he’s made mistakes and over the years we’ve seen him have a few, but he put his hands up and admitted it, time to support him not berate the lad. He’s come up with big saves and big moments time and time again, of course he’s going to make errors, that’s why he is playing at the level he is playing at. If it was a weekly occurrence then castrate the lad if you so desire, but he’s been one of our best players this season and he f-d up, give him a break.
I could go on and on and on about it, but I’ll not. Today was the realisation that there’s probably too many League 2 standard players in the squad that need to be gone in the summer….I think we’ll be fine, I’ve said that previously on here….but to move forward, we do need to empty about 10 of the squad. I get the comment made above about McPake slowing the attacks down for us, but he’s someone we really need to keep and I hope we can build our attacking play around him and Carrick for next season.
Alloa have a really good chance of success this season. They might not have a squad of superstars but under Graham, going by the 2 games I’ve seen, they are playing as a unit and have everything you need to be promoted. You look at the way they have been run over the past 10-15 years in comparison to ourselves and I can’t help being envious, although I didn’t think there was much between the teams before the season kicked off but how wrong was I. For purely selfish reasons, I hope we stay up and you stay down

No problem with parking if you keep in mind that there are hundred of spaces behind the trees of the away stand. Do not park anywhere that’s not a space, or you’ll likely get a ticket.
