  1. I actually misread the post I originally was responding to - as if it was a formality for HFL side rather than a challenger, well aware of BOD's strength onfield and have been to Spain Park recently.

There's a haphazard feel about this cup tournament. They need to get the format sorted and stick to it if it's to be taken seriously. In all fairness it hasn't had a proper run through yet in the new pyramid era.

Last season's was the biggest senior non league cup entry in about 150 years (well since the 1890s or something) - give it time ffs.

They are not there on merit at all. When the lowland league was formed they cobbled together a load of shite to bulk up the old EoS sides that joined it. No attempt was made to bring in sides like Linlithgow, Bo’ness etc instead they got newly formed glorified boys clubs like Cumbernauld colts, edusport academy, bsc Glasgow and parachuted them straight in at tier 5.

The junior clubs were told they'd have to start at bottom of juniors if they ever returned (potentially a 4 league demotion!) so there was too much to iron out at the time.

One of the best academies in europe started a B team, along with others.  Presumably this idea was generated by Dutch people, from the Netherlands, who are responsible for the success of youth development in their country.

But instead of visiting those academies to learn best practice, speak to experts, and test ideas here in a pilot project, we'd save a lot of time and energy by following the advice of a Dutch football supporter on pie + bovril who says it's bad.

One of the most patronising posts on this forum.

  5. Bringing B clubs into the Professional Game Board level of the pyramid I would say wasn't in the LL's gift, from a moral point of view. It should have been discussed as a wider issue by the SFA's membership. I know that's apples and oranges but it's the only organisation they're all a part of. This 'experiment' will lead to the OF wanting into the SPFL and it's highly likely to succeed now they have managed to isolate then break the weakest link in the chain. The LL clubs not having any regard for the impact this will have is abhorrent.
