  1. Great to see the new site making progress!
  2. George speaks... he's written story treatments for 7, 8 and 9 that will be worked on for future release, starting 2015.
  3. Can't help but think this could be a series of turkeys. I did like the prequels though. So what do I know
  4. You'd have to go along to find out. Having been to a fair chunk of West Junior grounds, I've not really felt I was at a 'mini Rangers love-in' anywhere really, perhaps Cambuslang excepted as they play in the same colours and have a Rangers-inspired crest. I guess there are towns where Rangers have a strong support, but the guys that run Irvine Meadow are big Celtic fans (I think they advertise a Celtic bus on the ad boards? Could be wrong but heard that). team in blue & white doesn't necessarily = mini Gers. The one club I'd definitely say is not a mini rangers love-in is Pollok. I say that because I know the club really well. Yeah, there will be some Lok/Gers fans on the terraces, but there are also Lok/Celts as well as fans of other SPL teams, even the odd Partick fan. But a good number have Lok as their only team, either because they were from Third Lanark families or because they fell away from the Gruesome Twoesome. A big game at Newlandsfield is a cracking bigot-free day out, crowd in high hundreds if you pick the right game, and if you're on the train you can have a few drinks before and after. I've brought a few guys along from this part of the world and one has seen the lower leagues with another team and rates the Newlandsfield social experience as second only to one other. It's not the greatest Pollok team of all time but it is still a good day out. http://www.pollokfc.com/
  5. Black and white scarves for the close-ups supplied by Pollok FC's club shop, can't remember why though!
  6. Forgive any inaccuracies in this but... rulebooks have been re-written in the time since, but way back in 1995 Shotts Bon Accord were suspended from Scottish football after falling foul of the 'beaks' over court action. The problem arose after a minor cup tie caused Shotts selection problems because of a flu outbreak. Doctors lines were produced for a number of players to get the game postponed, but on investigation by the SJFA one line turned out to be unsupported by a player when asked. As a result, the club were kicked out of the cup. The cup was not completed that year as Shotts went to the Court of Session twice to get themselves reinstated to it. As punishment for taking matters to court, Shotts were suspended indefinitely from football... [it even made it to Parliament where a few well known names added their support to the SBA cause:] http://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/business-papers/commons/early-day-motions/edm-detail1/?session=1994-95&edmnumber=1343&orderby=Party&orderdirection=Asc ...though ended up coming back after a year for season 1996-97. They had been a top division side in the Central Juniors, but came in at the bottom level, though under new manager Rab Sneddon they then won all three divisions back to back. In terms of their players, some played elsewhere for a year, others never returned.
  7. I only saw Tom Johnstone and Cumnock secretary George Morton? What was Ogilvie doing?
  8. Names in Scottish football aren't exactly helpful or enlightening. Players can get paid to play in SPL and SFL, as well as Highland, East of Scotland, South of Scotland and the Juniors. These leagues therefore all permit 'Professional' football (i.e. paid to play). It's illegal to take a performance-related payment or bonus in Welfare, Youth or Amateur (Sat/Sun). However: the SPL, SFL and Highland leagues are all now part of the Professional Board of football, the other leagues all part of the Non Professional Board. It's an interesting enough reshuffle as it perhaps points to a long-game of a pyramid (with a new 'south' or Lowland division to be made for the Professional board) and the respective standards of leagues outwith as times goes on. A Rangers NewCo in the Lowland division might accelerate the pyramid...
  9. I don't know what you're suggesting in that first sentence (edit: I was saying I pay the taxman the best part of 10k a year). Anyway, it wasn't that serious a point btw other than I lose what amounts to a week's wages to the taxman every month, but such is the life of us as taxpayers. I hope the tax cheats GIRUT.
  10. I seem to lose the best part of 10k a year in tax and NI... I wonder if my employer could give me a monthly discretionary payment instead?
  11. Was it not a condition of sale that he pay off the bank debt? It's not much of a leap to say the price of buying Rangers wherefore was £1 + the debt to the bank.
  12. Is there not some ruling or other that you have to be free before the window shuts? or are there special circumstances if a club is administration and a mutual termination is agreed thereafter?
  13. To be fair, Soccerbase is one of the most unreliable websites going - especially with Scottish stuff as they don't give a crap. The correct figure was 69. iirc it was the same day as the Tall Ships event which shut Greenock hours before kick off.
  14. Here's my say: anyone pleading poverty on half a million a year because of mortgages, bills and pension schemes can shove their own 'member' up their own behind.
  15. I loved Whye's line that "every penny going into the club has been accounted for" with regards to the missing millions. Of course, the missing millions didn't go into 'the club' in the first place, hence them being 'missing'!
  16. Aye we'll never know what Norwich would have sold at, but considering it was for an under-contract captain heading for double figures halfway through a Premiership season with a typical lower division side, I'd have thought towards the £4-5m mark. It's quite good - he's become the 'loving cup' for me - every time I see him, I think of Rangers!
  17. I haven't seen much in the way of material that is libellous. A wee difference (IMO) in printing empty stories about player transfers and reporting on serious financial malpractice.
  18. I think that's a bit naive. Last week at the QOS v Aberdeen game open all mics, Richard Gordon was speaking about this with Chic and others, in short these guys all sometimes see evidence (RG specified this) but it's only shown to them, and is not in their possession. Without concrete proof of its existence, they are in a very difficult legal position and will not run such stories.
