  1. So do you think we were wrong to appoint Houston?
  2. Sorry ShaggerG You misread my post, I was replying to Trump's response claiming that Houston had done well to get Baird. I was saying his comment was horseshit, not the player. I, like you rate the wee man, puts in a shift and as fans that what most of us like
  3. I think it is good value for money... Go for it!
  4. Ha ha I'll tell the jokes, it was the semi against Hibs
  5. Nah I have others hobbies but I am passionate about the team I've followed for a long time. Some of your points are valid but some are just an attempt to "big up" our gaffer and maybe your hero! Luke Leahy never got a real chance to prove anything under Holt. He was a squad player with a good left foot. Baird is a pile of horseshit, he was only here because Kerr had a fall out with QOS. I won't deny Vaulks or Taiwo both are good. Remember Vaulks was already here and doing fairly well at the back Yes we did have a couple of good away days in the capital, the win at Hearts was the highlight of the season for me. I don't know if you were at ER for the win and the draw but if you were there and honest we could have been right royally pumped on both occasions. Remember at 3-1 in the second game the open goal miss to make it 4? Cup final, a great achievement but should have won it. We did blow it big time. Kerr surprised me to be honest, done well but Millar gave us dig and drive, more goals and much younger. Muirhead looks ok but carries injury baggage, the jury is out just now. McHugh again looks livelier than I was expecting, trouble here I'd we signed him 6 months too late. In terms of being a good manager, he appears to have a decent CV but much of his success piggy backs on to Craig Levein coat tails. The season is not too far away, let's see what happens. I for one hope I am totally wrong but league tables don't lie!
  6. These are just some off the top of my head Wrong decisions ... Rory Boulding OTJ Taylor Morgan Going for broke in the cup final with a team in the ropes with a potential extra 30 mins to play Failing to re sign Mark Millar when released from DU Not quick enough... No replacement for Loy Waited too long on Brian Graham, lost out on other targets Poor recruitment this close season with little time for a team to gel Point 2... How many other teams have shown a interest in prising Houston away from Falkirk? He was Scotland No 2 after all Maybe you can give me some examples of what you think he got right?
  7. Ok that's your view but what happens if you're wrong...I did mention arrogance!
  8. So are you saying you are quite happy watching the same drivel this season as you did last?
  9. Now your being a total eejit. No-one is saying that, simply saying Let's get into the ball park between competing and getting the balance right. We are becoming arrogant here, what happens if we are not as good as we think and end up in a relegation dogfight, it's not beyond us the way things are shaping up. We are only a few injuries away from a crisis potentially. 2500 ST's is a fair bit of dosh to the club, do we not have some commitment to the people who have bought into the marketing drivel?
  10. I don't think many on here really dislike him, we all want to see him do well. He just seems to make poor decisions and takes too long to react. One thing that had struck me us there aren't too many clubs sniffing about him queuing up for his services. Except the BBC lol, maybe that is telling us something!
  11. I can't see or feel the optimism many are seeing. Love him or loath him, he has firmly tied his colours to the mast this year. I am not privvy to player budgets but would have thought we would have had enough to compete better given recent player sales, Scottish Cup final and higher earners departing Granted, Houston has only had one season under his belt with us in this league, but the similarities between last season and what we are seeing just now are unbelievable. I don't feel we as a club have learned much from the poor showing of last season's league performance, I see nothing so far that has me feeling we'll be better than 5th again. Unless Mr H has some tactical masterstroke up his sleeve I think this will be a long difficult season. As a club we need to make a good start in the league and maybe get some fans back on board, it's no use waiting to the January window to try to salvage some respect...I would be delighted if the club were showing some ambition to make progress and showing some intent to force improvements. I think this year's championship will be tougher than last. Morton, Dumbarton, St Mirren, Alloa, Raith all have new managers in place with different ideas and philosophies. Rangers look to be stronger, Hibs and Livvy who knows...I am still unconvinced we are stronger than last year, time will tell I suppose.
  12. I am sure Houston has been giving more money than he is spending. He doesn't seem the quiet type that would put up or shut up if funds were not forthcoming. Remember he kicked up an awful fuss at United re salaries and budgets
  13. He maybe could make a good magician pulling things like rabbit out of hats etc, come to think about it won't be long till he makes fans disappear too... If he doesn't get his finger out and invest in our team. We want to compete at some point in the season surely.
  14. 3 years? Pffffft...not good news then. Let's wait and see
  15. It makes no difference what anyone thinks... One thing is for sure, Houston must have tremendous confidence in his of players...the fact that up till now he has not brought in new players to bolster a mid table team last year, it is his neck on the line here. If things don't go to plan, I feel this is only one conclusion. In saying that he only had 1 year left on his current contract
  16. God I remember Boghead... Bet you guys wish you were back there!!!
  17. It's not a bad shout, maybe people like me are not seeing the bigger picture!
  18. Pantshitter lol Nah not really, I will patg for the first time in many years but if things get shit like last year. I don't have to freeze my bollocks off watching one dimension football... Now in the other hand if the club were to invest, well so will I...I absolutely refuse to give the club ST money. We've been conned too long. I wonder how many long term supporters feel the same?
  19. I don't agree... Mark Millar proved his worth over 2 different spells. I thought he was different class. Yes, Vaulks is good too but in a different position, Millar was creative and could put a ball through the eye of a needle. Vaulks' distibution let's him down sometimes... It's Millar for me, he just shades it
  20. My point is quite bluntly.... They would sell their Granny's if the price was right... Money in the bank does not build a side capable of competing...I take it you were there on Saturday...riveting stuff, thank Christ there was no extra time!!!
  21. It would keep our directors happy though, wouldn't it? As long as there is money coming in.
  22. So what does that mean then? Another session with us struggling to beat part time teams displaying slow unattractive football boring teams to death with tippy tappy pishy uninspiring slow mundane borefest football. This instead of being a slick fast flowing entertaining team that has supporters clammering to the stadium to inject some lively atmosphere... Thank feck I've not bought a ST then if what you are suggesting is our strategy? LET'S MAKE SURE WE DON'T GET ABOVE OURSELVES THEN, LET'S NOT SPEND ANY MONEY AND FIFTH WILL DO US FINE, After all, Rangers, Hibs, St Mirren and QOS are in our league. So let's not waste money and try to entertain these suckers that have bought over 2500 ST's. It's okay to stay in the championship for another year and the ways things are looking, we may need to invest to keep us in this league? #borefestfootballrus!
  23. Aye... Was just thinking today when watching us v East Fife... You know we're just a couple of players away from being a decent team
