  1. Is anyone else a bit worried that the mainstream media could help swing this back the other way, now that panic mode has spread to the news agencies south of the border?

Thing is it's been wall to wall pro-union stories up until now anyway. It's not that the media have changed their stance, more that the non-Scottish media has gone from being dismissive to paranoid. The tone has remained the same.

Plus they are screwing the pooch so hard that it's had a prolapse.

  2. We all know that Murdoch is a duplicitous shitehawk who has far more political power than anyone should, and not just domestic political power either.

We also know that The Sun/The Times or any other Murdoch vehicle only do things to benefit themselves or Murdoch's ideology or whims, certainly not for the benefit of the electorate.

With that all said, The Sun turning would be a key indicator and a useful tool in the campaign for a Yes vote.

It won't make me buy The Sun or consider it and it's sister papers in any way more favourable though.

  3. Absolutely love how the cybernats now believe every yougov says and don't trust panelbase. Boy, times achanging.

They certainly are changing, as this is what you wrote only a few weeks ago..

but yougov have been the most accurate at polling Scottish samples in recent elections

So tell me, are you claiming they are accurate or are you going to contradict yourself?

  4. More similarities with Quebec when Yes pulled 3 points ahead with a week to go but still lost. Squeaky bum time.

You do realise how the Canadian government pulled that figure back? Through breaking funding guidelines, gerrymandering and vote rigging.

I love the "don't go we'll give you everything" bullshit. If that was the case then where were these promises before a referendum was called by electoral mandate? The reason this is happening is because people didn't trust Westminster parties. More fool them if they believe them now.

  5. The Sun shifting it's stance shouldn't be rewarded, they have done considerable damage to the campaign up until now.

The analogy is this; you take a woman out for dinner and while you're at the toilet she drops a massive Cleveland Steamer right in the middle of your plate. On your return do you thank her for not pissing in your wine too?

  6. If the Sun come out for yes, I would respect him.

Sorry but I just cannot agree with you in the slightest. Murdoch demands our disrespect at all times, for all the obvious reasons.

If The Sun comes out and supports Yes they will do so only because it's purely in The Sun's interests, not the interests of the Scottish people.

  7. If this was a general election, I do believe there could be ambiguity, but this is a dichotomous decision; yes or no. There is no middle ground and because of that I don't believe people are being "soft sold" on the doorstep. If you are voting Yes and No campaigners turn up to the door you are not going to say "no" or "undecided" and the same applies for No voters.

  8. http://duncanstephen.co.uk/why-i-will-be-voting-no-thanks/

This link seems to be getting posted from the majority of No voters I know(Mainly the bit about it being Scottish politicians that started and funded the Iraq war)

Any of the YES voters on here care to debunk his theories?(mainly because I'm too lazy :P )

    I had a quick look.

He implies that because things were invented in Scotland when we were in the Union, that as an independent country we could not achieve such inventions.

He also uses the US political system as a demonstration of why division should be tolerated. A political system that shut down their entire government for a month, but hey let's not talk about that.

There are many many points in his piece that are open to rebuttal, I just honestly don't have the time.

  9. The SNP did pass through quite a lot of centre right policies in it's first term, although most of that was due to needing the Conservatives to help get those policies through Holyrood as the Lib/Lab pact were like children and were desperate to cause as much problems as possible.

This is typical of "Scottish" Labour, as they will do anything to lash out when they feel they have been wronged even if it is not beneficial to the Scottish people.
