  1. Patrick Flynn MEP, former Political Editor of the Daily Express, would be my bet. Farage is not at all well and stood down in 2009/10. Douglas Carswell MP has ruled himself out and it would be no surprise if he defected back to the Tories, especially if Nuttall or Flynn succeeds Farage. Flynn will having the powerful backing of Richard Desmond who donated a million quid for the election campaign. He would take UKIP to the left on economics to target Labour and Lib Dem voters. Most of UKIP's votes on Thursday came from Lib Dems and, to a lesser extent, Labour rather than Tories. If Labour goes back to middle class Blairism, UKIP will be ready to target the working class vote.
  2. A logical move, especially if Fox has rejected a new deal. McDonald has plenty of experience but there could be competition from other clubs.
  3. I am not basking in anything and you have no idea what I did. What a numpty!
  4. Under Swinney's leadership, the SNP only won 5 seats in the 2001 general election. Do you think that he could have led the SNP to victory last night?
  5. Angus Maude has been dead for over 20 years. I assume that you are referring to his son, Francis.
  6. Swinney was a terrible and inept SNP leader who took them close to disaster. It was the return of Salmond that turned round the fortunes of the party. Swinney has nothing to be smug about. It's easy to bask in the reflected glory of others' hard-earned achievements.
  7. That is a distinct possibility as his majority was reduced substantially and his close friend Mark Reckless lost his seat. He could be one of the contenders to succeed Farage and the inevitable UKIP in-fighting may force him out. Carswell, a radical libertarian, will certainly vote with the Conservatives on most issues.
  8. I would have hoped a more enthusiastic attitude if that's correct but journalists' tweets are not the most reliable sources. True but the players probably discuss interest at training. It be wise, however, to keep your own counsel on possible moves. O'Donnell rejected a move to Blackpool, understandably given their transfer chaos over the last two seasons, but he probably has other options.
  9. Club statement on website. “We are aware of the SFA’s intention to issue a notice of complaint to Steven Lawless with regards to betting on football matches. As a club we are in the process of conducting our own internal investigation and, until that and any SFA procedure is concluded, we will be making no further comment.” Simonsen got a two game ban which sets a precedent.
  10. From the BBC's Scottish Gossip - "St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has opened talks with on-loan striker Brian Graham, who is being released by Dundee United. (Sun)" Great scoop!
  11. Thanks for the warnings. Like others here, I hope that Booth wants to stay at Firhill.
  12. Not bad news as the manager needs to free up some cash to improve the squad. It should be a tougher league next season.
  13. You are partly right as Paul Sykes and Richard Desmond have given UKIP over a £1 million each in the last year or so. However, most of UKIP's full-time staff are funded by their MEPs' allowances and UKIP's group in the European Parliament. Then there is the pan-European party which receives another couple of million. The other main parties receive similar subsidies from Brussels.
  14. ^ Agree with you but who is available to replace O'Donnell if he leaves? The budget will probably be similar next season. If so and assuming that he stays, Elliot will probably be cover for both the full-back positions. Pleased to see the positive comments from Lawless too.
  15. I agree but Booth and Taylor may get other offers. Wouldn't be surprised if Osman leaves too. Welsh has been very unlucky but, with money being tight, would have to prove his fitness to stay.
  16. Me too. Agreed. A few more for the list - Alexander Armstrong, Dara O'Briain, Alan Davies, Rory Bremner and Marcus Brigstocke just irritate me.
  17. ^ That's good news for us. Fox seems to be Archie's first choice but Scully is, currently, our only contracted keeper for next season.
  18. Joe Chalmers is a left-back and out of contract. He reportedly did well on loan at Falkirk last season but got injured and has taken a long time to recover. If the manager is looking for a left-back, he could be an option if Celtic don't offer him a new deal.
  19. Would you take Darnell Fisher of Celtic on loan? Matthews and Lustig are ahead of him and Deila may want him to get first-team experience. Joe Chalmers is out of contract too.
  20. With us being safe, the manager should bring in McDaid and Fraser to replace players who are out of contract.
  21. Craigen's out of contract and could have other offers. Here's the out of contract "team". Fox O'Donnell Keenan Balatoni Richards-Everton Osman Craigen Welsh Lawless Higginbotham Elliott Subs - Gallacher, Finnie, Keenan, Lindsay, Wilson, Duggan
  22. Meh. I don't drink much vodka anyway and tend to stick to Speyside single malts.
  23. I only buy the best. Do you prefer American, Italian or Chinese? Most Italian and American stuff is made in Romania or China now.
