  1. If anyone is stuck out in Southern California this week (or if you have any mates who are) we are meeting at the Daily Pint in Santa Monica for the game. Pub opens at 11am. Over 21s only unfortunately.
  2. Fair play to you. I'm not sure I would have been that magnanimous if the penalties had gone the other way. I was enjoying your run and wish it didn't have to end like this.
  3. Don't really see why you have been downvoted so much. This is bang on IMO. I know the squad is better than in previous eastern European adventures, but it's not immune to a calamity, as we nearly saw against both Israel and the Faroes the other day.
  4. I don't think there will be many Americans involved. You have to be born into it to suffer Friday morning LA traffic just to get to a pub to watch us choke on an Eastern European banana skin yet again!
  5. If they are willing to open in the morning to show Scotland games, they can call themselves whatever they like!
  6. Created a FB group for folks in LA / SoCal to try and coordinate watch parties that might be going on across the city: https://www.facebook.com/groups/593429824967863
  7. There are a lot of Scots in LA scattered around, but trying to coordinate them all and get them to travel across the city to designated spots can be surprisingly difficult. I used to run a TA group in Seattle before I moved down here and always had a bit of a headache drumming up numbers for the pub if it wasn't a major decider. We don't seem to stick together as much as other immigrant cultures. Or maybe just nobody wants to stick around with me.... With that said I'm hopeful that our first tournament in decades, coupled with the fact that we are coming out of COVID here, should mean I can get something put together.
  8. After living out here for years and watching games mostly on my tod, I've had enough and am going to try and coordinate folks who want to watch the Euros with kindred spirits. If you are this guy, then you are presumably in the same boat. I'm in the process of setting up a Facebook group. Send me a PM if you want to be included in communications.
  9. This fixture always reminds me of the uncertainties surrounding our original promotion to the SPL, which undermined the celebrations somewhat. Over the years I've been able to forgive and forget. With that said, after careful reflection, I hope we absolutely batter them this week.
  10. Hear a lot of blokes banging on (both online and in the pub) about the quality of the football product but I really don't see the argument. For international games at least it's as much about pride, blood and snotters and the womens' team is more than capable of that. As for quality I can understand the argument but I've been to more than a few Tartan Army games where the millionaires on the pitch failed to show any signs of that apparent quality and talent. I've also done my time watching Caley in absolute shitfests of games in the lower divisions of Scottish football. Some of them have been absolutely brutal. I certainly expect to see talent and quality when I watch Messi et al. in the Champions League, but my expectations when I go to a men's domestic game in Scotland are usually rock bottom. Why do the women have to be held to a higher standard? With all that said, Hope Solo is full of shite - the financials need to add up.
  11. Before my time but is that what you are looking for? Never heard it before!
  12. Best I have been able to do so far is the Teuchter audio commentary on the ICT twitter page.
  13. Solid point. I'd really like to see us follow Iceland's model, ideally with facilities distributed around the country and not just in the central belt.
  14. I love Hampden to bits. It's the spiritual home of Scottish football for me.
  15. This is timely for me. Mid 30s and trying to get my head around the ups and downs of married life and buying a house. Renting seems to be the better fit for me at the moment. You could lament the opportunities lost being conservative in your youth but if you have your health it's never too late. The world is still your oyster.
  16. Nope. The two DLCs are absolutely huge (and solid). You have plenty left to go yet!
  17. This kind of thing works for me (at least I think it's working). Firstly it's free and (barring the weather) it can usually be fit into any reasonable schedule. DA, you didn't mention anything about your diet. If you are eating on the cheap to save money it's possible you may not be eating well. The Scottish way. I've found eating healthier in addition to the aforementioned exercise made me feel a lot better about myself intrinsically. I also like the advice from welshbairn: manageable changes, in sequence to start with rather than a total overhaul all at once. Good luck!
  18. Due to work i haven't been able to watch all the games in either tournament but so far have enjoyed this one more than the Euros. Despite the fact that Argentina have been running away with it there have been some enjoyable upsets.
  19. This team's had a good feel about it for a while now. Seems like a really good bunch of lads that genuinely like each other. Terry Butcher used to say as much and it came across as genuine. As for the ups and downs, isn't that the life of a diddy fan? Would you have it any other way? The key is to appreciate it whenever you get the breaks and I think we've all done a pretty good job of that.
