  1. Someone from Paddy Power has obviously stumbled upon this thread.
  2. Just thought it was surprising compared to the year before where we had two semi-finals and a final or 07/08 where we had 4 UEFA Cup games all close to a sell-out, as well as two semi-finals. However, for some reason I wasn't taking the three Euro games (Riga, Groningen and Sociedad) into account and they would have brought in about £1 million from gate receipts alone.
  3. Amazing that we managed to generate a turnover of that size without an extended European run or a cup final. Great to see the club operating so well off the pitch. Hopefully we get a solution regarding training facilities before too long. Disappointed to see they are persisting with Loirston though.
  4. Apparently we are signing Ryan McLaughlin on loan from Liverpool. 20 year old Northern Irish international right-back.
  5. Definitely wouldn't be guaranteed a start every week ahead of the likes of Jack or McLean. Would be funny as f*ck if we managed to sign him ahead of the buns though.
  6. I used to post quite regularly on mad but these days I have click sign-in, get directed to that daft "pay £20 for no ads" nonsense, type in your user and password, for some reason have to check all my settings are alright (every time) and then finally get taken back to the main forum page, not even the thread I wanted to post in. By this point I've probably already forgotten what I was going to post in the first place. Still read most of the posts but its really not as good as the old days, and the new update is atrocious, you automatically get taken to the first page of a thread and have to navigate each page one at a time. I wouldn't be surprised if it died off completely after this update. Would be a shame given how good it used to be. Chat is full of zoomers and nothing happens on Donstalk. A lot of folk just use Facebook and Twitter these days as well. I would love StandFreeEd to leave the footymad format and create a new independent Ab Mad site with a layout like this one but can't see it happening unfortunately.
  7. Whilst I disagree with the postponement rule as a whole, I'm glad we have exercised it in this case. Playing Thursday-Sunday-Thursday-Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday is tough on the players this early in the season.
  8. Think it was mentioned on here at the time. I think Langfield has been trying to make a point about this on Twitter, he posted a picture a couple of weeks back with him laughing alongside the two other keepers with a caption along the lines of "See, I do get on with other keepers" and has praised Danny Ward in just about every game he's played so far. Brown in generally an arsehole, he thought he was a much better keeper than he actually was.
  9. A lot of rumours going around that he will join either you or Dunfermline after his testimonial.
  10. I would start Pawlett. He looked dangerous when he came on in the last game and the opposition won't have sussed out how to deal with his preference of driving into space in the middle of the pitch, like a lot of Scottish teams have. The referee also won't be aware of his reputation to go to ground easily so will be more likely to win fouls, especially if there are a few heavy challenges. McLean could also be effective if we're pushing on and playing high up the park and would play Considine ahead of Quinn, simply because he's more used to playing with Taylor and will give the defence more balance. Ward Logan Taylor Considine Shinnie McGinn Pawlett Jack McLean Hayes Rooney
  11. Rumours on twitter that Ryan Jack has been named captain.
  12. The band in Gogarty's were playing it on the Thursday night, scenes ensued.
  13. "It's camp! You know the tragically ludicrous? The ludicrously tragic?" "Ah so like a clown dying."
  14. I think McGinn had the most in the league but a few were corners/free-kicks. All the more ammo for Rooney!
  15. 2nd in Premiership vs. 3rd in Championship. Europa League vs. Petrofac Cup. Whole squad of good players tied down on long-term deals vs. a few over-paid has-beens. But he's a pyoor Raynjurs man byraway
  16. Orkney have a team in the North Caledonian League although there are only 6 teams and 10 fixtures each which makes things easier. Teams can get ferries between Thurso and Orkney on the same day. Shetland would always struggle to have a team in any kind of league, despite having a bigger population and better team in recent years. Teams would generally need to travel to and from Aberdeen leaving on Friday evening and getting back Sunday morning. Shetland do have a team playing in the North Caledonian Cup and even won it this year, as well as the Island Games and Inter-county matches with Orkney, but travel issues would probably prevent them ever competing in a mainland league unfortunately. Scottish Cup could be an option, although I think there were issues regarding the fact that both Orkney and Shetland are essentially select teams of their local leagues and not separate clubs.
  17. I do realise we have signed Graeme Shinnie, who usually plays full back, and not his brother, Andrew Shinnie, who is a midfielder. Graeme has played in midfield for Inverness before and there has been a lot of speculation that he may play there for the Dons due to the good form of Andy Considine at left back this season and the rumours regarding Ryan Jack leaving the club.
  18. Great to see he's extended his deal. Doubt we'll see another midfielder come in now. Jack, Flood, McLean, Robson, Smith, Pawlett, Hayes and now Shinnie are all capable of playing there and I can't see any of them leaving any time soon.
