  1. East Fife Supporters Trust have produced a 40 page all colour programme (see EF thread for details) for the last game of the season at the bargain price of £2. If all visiting Cove supporters buy a copy the proceeds will represent around 50% of our player budget for next season.
  2. Well it’s been a long painful season but we may be able to say we are undefeated at home against the league champions. As it’s the last game of the season the Trust have put together a 40 page all colour programme still only £2. Apart from the regular features read about……… EF’s record against Highland leaguers. Down memory lane with a look at an old programme v Celtic in the League Cup Scottish International Andy Robertson’s Charity AR26 visits Bayview Details of events for Kevin Smith’s testimonial How Fifers for the Community (FFTC) established the 3G facility, maintain and manage the pitch and grow community use.
  3. The key part of the above is that EF is not an attractive proposition. Both played yesterday and although Swanson ran out of steam both played quite well against an impressive Airdrie. Hopefully both can demonstrate their fitness and want to stay as replacements will not be knocking at the door.
  4. Get a grip. Where are we going to get a 18/20 man squad of decent quality players with 2nd Div revenue. Is there 18/20 decent quality players just waiting to join a relegated team ? We need to keep maybe four or five of the better experienced players - Steele, Murdoch, Swanson +2. Quite a few decent looking youngsters who need experience. Make that the retained squad of 13/14 then look for 4/5 players who can help take us back up in a season. Emphasis must be on a couple of strikers but it was quite evident there’s not many going about who will come for 2nd Div wages. Sadly we are well down the pecking order.
  5. A good point for us as it keeps us in touch. As importantly the first half showed a bit of discipline in defence albeit nothing much up front. Then in the second half after losing a goal and changing the formation we showed a bit of threat up front although some of that was due to Alloa going down to ten men. A wee glimmer of hope there. I will probably regret this but given a run of games and used properly I think Semple could offer something. Newton did a lot of good work but had to go when the format changed.
  6. I don’t think any of the players give anything but 100% effort. Against both Clyde and BoD we went into the lead and we’re not under any real threat. At that point, especially against BoD, we should have been able to take a hold of the game. Sadly we didn’t seem able to change our game plan to cope with the expected response. There didn’t seem to be a leader on the pitch and the substitutions made absolutely no change to the way both games were going. A new manager with a proven track record at a higher level is pie in the sky. Four or five marquee signings in January is pie in the sky. I do think we have the players, if managed properly, to get us out of the bottom two. Whoever it is will be well on his way to achieving success if he can teach our defence how to defend set pieces. Left Broadwood wondering how we could make such a hash of things. Aberdeen was deja vu.
  7. I think you are on the right track. I would go for McInnes with Butcher as assistant. McPherson could slot in as Director of Football. Might stretch us a bit but worth it to stay in the 1st Division.
  8. A word for Liam Newton who didn’t look out of place and worked like a Trojan in midfield.
  9. After a pleasant return journey from Dumbarton just a couple of thoughts on what are often seen as some of the basic rules of football management. Unless essential don’t change a winning team. Thinks………….EF won away from home last week. Build a team around a solid central defence. Thinks……….EF have been very poor at defending set pieces for several seasons and today we surpassed ourselves. Today was an embarrassment. Over the 90 minutes our defence was a shambles and our mid-field / forward play was ponderous in comparison to Dumbarton. This is hurting too much. Thank goodness it’s only Airdrie next week.
  10. The first edition of our match day programme, The Bayview will be available for Saturday’s visit of Montrose. The price will remain at £2 and a package of all league and cup programmes for the rest of the season is available for £30. Supporters who previously received a postal copy can have the same programmes posted ( UK only ) for £60. Anyone interested please let me know on email fftc@btinternet.com
  11. It wasn’t too long ago you were criticising “ negative” comments. Has the leper changed its spots. You seem unable to read the roof.
  12. I think your signings scoop almost comes under the category of common knowledge. You are a danger to the public and will never get early release. If you are trying to be a dick you are succeeding. That’s me over and out.
  13. I have looked back and posted about a dozen times in the last two months and don’t see a single negative word towards the club. Do you just sit in your cell and make things up ?
  14. It’s the anthem of most clubs that “it’s a diddy cup” when they get knocked out. I think most EF fans would have been delighted if we had won our section and, with luck, gone on to a big game. One or at most two games would not have changed our season. My source let me down completely on the Tony McMinn move. What happened to your man in the know ? Sadly I am sitting here no further forward as your explanation of “read the room” is just a load of tosh. You must have made that whole thing up.
  15. Oops! I forgot to say that I was posting it in confidence. Fortunately there is anonymity on this site and my friend won’t read it as he is a RR supporter. Please explain “ read the room” to me. Is it something you made up ?
  16. I know someone who has a friend who knows most of the wheeler dealers in Scottish football. He has told me in confidence that Jordan Austin will not be joining East Fife. p.s. “read the room” makes absolutely no sense.
  17. It’s the price you pay for passing on what was obviously just nonsense. Stop and think in future.
  18. The first edition of The Bayview match programme will be produced for the game against Montrose on 21st Aug. we would welcome any articles, news, photographs etc. These can be single, intermittent or regular articles and suggestions on content are also welcome.
  19. Looked back to when Hampden was sold. Reports from various agencies seem to confirm QP had all debts wiped out and received £5.1m for the sale. Yes they are developing Lesser Hampden and it’s anybody’s guess who is helping fund that but that is the spending power we need to compete against. QP we’re quite good today and will undoubtedly spend to get better. It will be quite a while before their board need to worry about the cost of a professional set-up balanced against the income from semi- professional attendances.
  20. Not quite sure of your point. If it’s just informing me of where Ross County get their money then thank you. As said previously all is fine as long as that continues but if it stops it could be the seaside league. Gray and Ballingry were mentioned earlier. He flashed the cash at East Fife as well and left a complete mess behind him.
  21. I don’t know the detail behind Ross County’s funding but they seem to have a structure and fan base to be a Div1 team with visits to the Championship if the major funder withdrew. All the clubs mentioned e.g. Kelty are being privately funded. Banks are not going lend to most clubs in the Scottish leagues money which would be used to buy and pay players . Good luck to them all while it lasts but as an earlier poster wrote, if or when the funding stops they will fall back to a level dictated by crowds.
  22. Apart from maybe Falkirk can you tell me the quality signings we have missed out on or are just waiting for someone to sign them ?
  23. Without knowing the financial situation of various clubs before or during the pandemic it’s difficult to know what is available. If all the various handouts and grants are considered some clubs could have been getting up to the equivalent of two seasons gate receipts plus whatever revenue they had from season ticket sales. Obviously still costs to cover but generally players and staff were on furlough for a fair part of the last 14 months.
  24. Shock, horror. Professional footballer pretends he was fouled. Get a grip.
