  1. I've no idea. I know they had major issues with a laptop at the start of the season which are sorted but I don't know the specifics of how the work is produced. I know the guys - our media officers are my friends and the new volunteers are sound - but I don't have a direct involvement in their work. I chat to the guys before and after the game but that's all. You'ld have to ask them, but I don't think they post on here so it would need to be through official channels.
  2. It's nothing to do with ego or being unable to take constructive criticism. It's whether that suggestion for improvement should be made on a public forum or offered in private.
  3. No the camera person is a volunteer, as are the two commentators. AFAIK the highlights are done from the memory card. Sometimes the media officer does them when he gets home and on Saturday I think they were done by one the commentators on the team bus home. The guys sit behind me on the bus though I wasn't really paying much attention to what they were doing so I might be wrong on that. The commentator works in digital media at the SPFL and is very clued-up on what he does. Producing videos is part of his day job. The highlights have nothing to do with the live streaming service. A polite suggestion for Leodhas. You're obviously knowledgeable about your subject, but if you work in a particular field for a football club it's not really the done thing to imply criticism on your counterparts at another club. And that's how your posts come across, though I'd hope it's not deliberate. For example, I wouldn't dream of posting anything negative about the work produced by David Glencross at Alloa. Apart from the fact that I know and like him, it's just not appropriate and would be frowned upon, not just by him but by everyone else in our community. Your posts are kind of skirting on the edge of that in my eyes. Maybe better to speak to people face to face rather than post about them online? It won't be long before we're back at Recreation Park again so you'll have your opportunity soon enough.
  4. Ahem. Iain Snedden. Please spell his name correctly. Thanks. Iain Snedden - Referee - Latest game assignments, game history and yellow/red card details - Sports Mole
  5. Unless he was injured. I've no idea if he was or not, but I'd rather not rush to judgement until I had all the facts. It's possible we'll find out from the next press conference or TV interview.
  6. See I'm the opposite. I don't think he tinkers at all, though today was obviously a massive exception which will probably never be repeated. IMO we're very predictable in terms of lineup. Every Falkirk fan knows what our team will be in 99% of games if everyone is fit. Even in cup matches he doesn't normally change much. The Ayr game earlier in the season was probably has most wildcard lineup: Oliver in for Spencer, Allan in for MacIver and Lawal in for Agyeman. And I'm sure Alfie had a knock. That was him tinkering and it was three changes out of ten outfield players. I think you've got McGlynn wrong. He pretty much sticks to the tried and tested every week, today excepted. And given how badly it went I doubt he'll do it again. The only other time he pulled something wild was at Kelty last season when he played McCann at rightback. If you look at the rest of the changes that day, all were reasonable. (Mackie in an LB which was the position he was signed to play, Yeats replaced Oliver in midfield as the latter had been sent off in the last game at Dundee, and Hendo replacing Mackie at CH. I think that was also the position he was signed to play.) I see McGlynn as a safe manager who very rarely changes his lineup. From what I read on here last season, the Dunfermline manager changed his team almost every week and it brought him success. Whereas McGlynn used to get criticised because he only had one way of playing. Today he tried to break the mould and do something different. It didn't work. To me that makes him the complete opposite of a tinkerer. And given his normally cautious nature, I'm sure he;'ll never do it again.
  7. No, it's because they're children. Or at least they act like it. They took a dislike to you and decided to try and bully you. Adults laugh that off. Kids think its cool. The fact that the only response I got was a red dot pretty much confirms it. They'll probably switch their attention to me now. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'll jump on the team bus tomorrow morning to do a job for the club while they'll be looking through my previous posts and red-dotting all of them. So what? It's irrelevant, and so are the babies who indulge in that sort of behaviour. If people aren't willing to air their gripes in person then they're not worth a second thought.
  8. Since it was mentioned earlier in the thread, can I ask why you always reddot any post from Bigbrbairn? As does I think does one other poster here? I doubt it bothers him. It certainly didn't bother me when marshmallo used to reddot almost everything I posted. I pay attention to the opinions of people whom I know personally and who speak to me facetoface. I might not agree with them, but at least we'll have a civil conversation and after it I'll understand why their opinions and mine are so different. Or perhaps I'll be able to change their minds. I may sometimes challenge their posts so that others hear an alternative viewpoint. Or in some cases ignore them completely because it's just a waste of effort. But I've never constantly reddotted anyone just because I don't agree with their opinions on a forum, or because I know and dislike them in real life. To me, that just comes across as the behaviour of a child. A child who doesn't have the intelligence to engage in debate or the emotional maturity to deal with opinions which are different from their own. I've no idea if that's what you are and I'm not trying to be insulting. I am, however, genuinely curious as to why you do it and what you think you're achieving.
  9. It's probably the quietest part of the ground with the least number of fans in it.
  10. Looks like it was filmed from the press area. If so it's on the part of the ground that is closest to the away fans and furthest from the "noisy" element of our support.
  11. Jordan Allan in the playoff at Airdrie or if that doesn't count as a LM then Coll Donaldson last January against Clyde.
  12. Agreed. This might be the most crucial season in decades given the possibility of part-time football if it ends badly. Yet somehow people think that we're going to let a third-tier English club dictate who plays in one of most important positions in the team? Given how critical it is that we go up? McGlynn is probably the most open Falkirk manager I've come across, in that he's very upfront about things like injuries and contract situations. A goalkeeping example would be when he told us last January in an FFCTV interview that we were letting Hogarth return to Forest because they wanted more money for us to keep him. I don't imagine that went down very well at The City Ground. So the idea that he would suddenly lie to our fans, on-camera, rather than simply say it how it is seems a little far-fetched to me.
  13. Thank you for explaining that. I'm so dense that I didn't get Alan's joke when he asked Nizzy during the postmatch interview to describe the goal as almost everyone missed it. His response was funny though. "Well, I beat four of them, went back and beat the last man again just for the hell of it, and then stuck the ball in the top bin".
  14. I would doubt if any of the Bairns fans on this forum are unaware of Sarah. Or the amazing job she's done for the club over the decades. She was deservedly recognised at the awards night last May. She's very much loved by our support and is considered a legend along with the likes of Jean Sneddon, Gordon McFarlane and Michael White.
  15. We could have gone ten points clear of Partick on 10th December but lost our first game of the season in a defeat to Airdrie. Then we drew at home to Partick despite them being down to ten men for the last thirty minutes. And followed that up with a loss to bottom club East Fife who played us off the park. Those were the last three games before covid shut the leagues down and Holt hadn't arrived at that point, so the rot had already set in. As for when the league restarted, all I know is that we were playing badly even in the games we won. Which were three out of eleven. There were whispers at the time that the management felt Holt was undermining them but whether that was true and it whether it affected the players I have no idea.
  16. I might get in trouble for posting this, but a couple of years have gone by now so I think it's time for the story to be told. Gary Holt was appointed DOF on 14th Jan 2021. The leagues had been suspended sometime after our loss to East Fife on 2nd January because of covid. The team were allowed to train before the league resumed on 20th March and during that period we had a trialist goalkeeper - Luke Holt. Nobody knew about him because professional football was in lockdown and fans couldn't get into matches, but I saw him a couple of times when I was asked to cover training and closed-door games. He wasn't signed. I don't know why, but I'd guess the goalie coach didn't rate him.. In April we lost our top-of-the-league spot after a truly horrendous game in Peterhead. I was there to watch it and it's one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a Falkirk side. Unsurprisingly, given the social media comments at the time, Miller and McCracken were sacked the next day. What WAS surprising was that the goalie coach was also sacked, given that he'd been there a long time and was very well liked by everyone at the club. As all Bairns will know, that season ended extremely badly. Summer of 2021 brought us a new hope. Paul Sheerin was appointed, as was a new goalie coach who knew Gary Holt from their Livingston days together. He was only there a month, but it was long enough to presumably recommend that a returning trialist goalie - Luke Holt - was good enough to get a two year contract. I leave you to draw your own conclusions. The ironic thing is that I found Luke to be a nice lad. I liked him, as did several of the volunteers who were around the club and spoke to him frequently. He didn't deserve the horrendous abuse which he received from some of our fans. But he should never have been signed.
  17. Normally the stands are cleaned between games but with the two days after the match being Hogmanay and NYD, I'd guess the cleaners had something better to do those days.
  18. Literally EVERYONE at the stadium was working on the surface. Manager, Asst Manager, CEO, BOD members, kitman, backroom staff, media staff. The whole club were pulling together. I turned up at 1240 but couldn't do anything as there were no spare snow shovels. I approached McGlynn and offered to take his shovel so he could do something more important and he told me where to go.
  19. Current forecast is for it to turn to rain by one. In theory two hours of rain should clear the pitch. The question is how long do the club give it before making a decision? Because any late call-off will lead to the inevitable barrage of criticism. I guess the best option is to wait for the ref to turn up and then it's up to him.
  20. The impression I've always had right from day one is that the only investment is from the fans. Not unless someone external wants to join up, donate some cash and do it without getting a majority shareholding in return. The only alternative is to abandon the current ownership model. I assume that idea has no support from the fanbase given that there's no clamour for it, almost a thousand people are currently backing the status quo with monthly donations and the only negative voices are a few anonymous posters on here. I'd hope the BOD have a Plan B if things go badly in May. As the alternative might be part-time football next season. But right now, when the team are doing so well and giving us all hope, I'm not sure why you're expecting investment news. The owners - the fans - are already investing what they can.
  21. The club could certainly offer that, though I have no idea whether they would. However, let's say your theory is accurate and it would cost us (picking a number out of thin air here) an extra twenty grand out of this years budget. That twenty grand would pay for an extra player this season. A player who might make the difference between us getting promoted or not. If we get promoted, we'll be playing in front of bigger crowds so presumably bigger salaries and win bonuses for the players next season. A season that Hendo will have committed to if he signs an extension in January. So it's in his own interests for us to go up. Were I in his shoes, I'd be telling FFC to pay me that twenty grand in June. Out of next seasons budget. I'm guaranteed to get the money anyway, but deferring payment gives me a greater chance of increasing my income next year. TBH though, my suspicion is it's unlikely we'll be doing extensions until we know what league we'll be in. McGlynn told us (I think at the AGM) that if we don't go up the likes of Spencer will not be here to complete the second year of their contract. So if the Spencers, Langs, Millers et al can all walk in the summer if we fail, presumably to protect us financially if we have to go part-time, I can't see anyone getting an extension in January. Particularly on an increased salary. Not unless the FSS number are big enough by then to sustain a fulltime budget in league one for next season. Or the board have something else up their sleeve. We shall see.
  22. Err, no they wouldn't. Promising to keep on paying Finn Yeats / Call Morrison after their contracts expire in May won't cost anything until June, which would come from next years budget.
  23. We played Woking in a preseason friendly 2014. They were English nonleague at the time (probably still are?). I remember speaking to one of our officials afterwards and he said that their budget blew ours out of the water several times over.
  24. Leaving out the "tapping up" aspect of the alleged approach, that's pretty unprofessional from your DOF. Assuming it's true of course. It's not a good look for a club official to give out what is obviously confidential information concerning another club. When he was in charge at Falkirk, Peter Houston was asked at a fan forum about the possibility of us going for Stephen Dobbie. Houstie responded by telling the room what Dobbie's salary was and the QOTS fans on P&B went nuts about it afterwards. Even though he was basically explaining why Dobbie was beyond our reach. Football clubs know a lot more about opposing dressing rooms than most fans would believe. But it's not really the done thing to put that knowledge out in public. If your DOF did, then I'd suggest it was an error of judgement on his part. As to whether the story is actually true, I have no idea. We'll all know for certain once the January window closes.
  25. A year or two back, that comment would have likely been aimed at Morrison. As he was easily our best player and the only one who could create something out of nothing. He's scored a few crackers this season, such as the third goal against you last week and his last-minute winner against Montrose. He's superb on his game, but can be inconsistent as he proved today by not doing anything particularly special against Annan. Whereas we now have so many other good players who can step up and contribute instead of always relying on just the one creator. As today showed when we scored two absolute peaches - from our each of our centre halves. One of whom has that in his locker as it's not the first time he's done it. And we have a very strong bench. If we lose one player in January - which I think you're insinuating - it should make very little difference to us, And I'm not so sure we'll lose anyone as whoever you're referring to has a very good chance of picking up a medal at the end of the season.
