  1. Baillieston, Coltness, St Joseph's are the ones i remember. Were st josephs not a big side at one point?
  2. scotland v leicestershire anyone?
  3. That report is terrible. It basically implies that Scotland wouldn't have won a 50 over game against Kent. Kent were 20 overs in, with only 64 runs for 4 wickets leaving only Kemp and Mahmood that were really capable of getting a big score left. Scotland had one wicket down after 15 overs, leaving Watson, Hamilton, McCallum, Berrington and Borgas capable of good totals, and Haq, Smith and Stander capable of putting on some runs.
  4. by the way, Scotland v Middlesex at Grange CC, Stockbridge, Edinburgh. Thursday(today) 10.45am. £15 adults. Hughes of the australian test team will be batting for middlesex, as will eoin morgan of the england side. Supposed to be a nice day too.
  5. I think there's maybe too much luck involved in 20/20. Also, like what was mentioned above, it's completely different at a lower standard. I went to Carlton v Dunfermline in the Scottish 20/20 cup. When players of a lower standard are put under the pressure of 20/20 cricket, where every ball really needs to be hit, they tend to not be capable of settling into an innings. Most sides at scottish club standard must watch the IPL and see 120 + as whats expected and then go out hitting and end up all out at 80 or 90. There's also a lot more dot balls. I'd imagine 20/20 at a higher standard is quite exciting live. I don't really like the IPL with the whole presentations after every game and fireworks etc. It'd be ridiculous if there was presentations and interviews on the pitch with fireworks for every Premiership match. I mean, some games are bigger than others and if a game deserves attention it'll get it. it doesnt need fireworks lanned for EVERY league game. I like one day cricket more, mainly because you can watch the whole story of the game unfold in a watchable amount of time whilst also being able to relax a bit watching it cos it's not too rushed.
  6. I know everyone's talking about the test at the moment, but I was thinking about going along to the Friends Provident Trophy games in Edinburgh next week. Anyone know how much it is to get in and what the crowds are like?
  7. a reverse sweep is worth the same amount of runs as any other shot. it's not worth concentrating on them, just play the basics well and get your best score you can. thinking of joining a team in south edinburgh myself. used to play for west of scotland in the youth system and for dundee uni. anyone know much about the edinburgh area? i was thinking boroughmuir, watsonians or carlton but there's plenty of choice.
  8. I think they are making progress relative to the county standard. It's a matter of making enough money from sponsorship/qualifying for world cups to pay for more central contracts for the players. if we quality for this world cup, 3 more proffesional players will come of it. that can only help. The problem right now is i think the other associate member countries playing in this tournament have made more progress than us. canada, the netherlands, kenya and ireland all seem to be better than us and have better results. We need to come ahead of one of these teams to qualify and it doesn't seem likely if we can muster up a decent total in the next round. beating afghanistan and the UAE(if we manage it!) is all very well, but completely useless if we can defeat the sides who are challenging for the qualification places. It'll be a big setback to not qualify. On the other hand, at least if we come top 6 we'll have one day status. It's funny this, considering Ireland are absolutely flying these days and are rapidly catching up with the poorer test nations. They're already ranked 11th in the ODI rankings and will probably catch zimbabwe soon. scotland havent even won enough games v test nations to be included in the rankings!
  9. don't know if anyone's been watching, but scotland are having an absolute shocker in south africa at the qualifiers today. 47/5 with a pathetic amount of dot balls considering they're miles behind the required run rate. canada made 252/7. they're going to be lucky to qualify now cos they'll have beat one of kenya and the netherlands and they don't seem to be capable of getting a decent total at all.
  10. yusssss!!!!! £31.63 from £2 with Dundee-Partick Thistle home win Clyde-St Johnstone away win Dunfermline-Stirling home win WBA-Sc**thorpe home win Derby-Blackburn Rovers away win
