  1. In a two week period earlier in the season we had THREE goals chopped off by VAR against Hearts (2 should have stood) and against Aberdeen a goal chopped off for offside when Dons had cleared the ball twice after the initial offence - oh, and in that game, VAR not spotting a double-touch penalty with the last kick(s) of the ball cost us 2 points. Not sure how many of the decisions they've admitted VAR got wrong can clearly have been shown to have an impact on the result, but that's certainly one of them. FWIW, and I hate to say it, I thought both Rangers penalties were correct. First one always would have been, second is the kind of crap that gets given 9/10 these days. Be great to have a game where there was zero VAR controversy. [As an aside, we'll have Bolton back in defence for this after him missing Saturday due to the ref overruling VAR and keeping a clear yellow as a straight red in the game against Dundee].
  2. This is the game Levein will be hoping for some fruit from his recent "refs out to get us" press campaign. Never going to get it against Rangers of course, so expecting a few more comments from him before Saturday.
  3. That’s not cheating. Cheating would be reacting as he did with no contact. There are hardly any footballers that if they think they’ve been fouled don’t exaggerate to draw it to the attention of the officials. Even more so with VAR. That’s a penalty all day long, and what he did made sure VAR checked it.
  4. On a first viewing I thought A) why did he throw himself to the ground when he’d beaten the player and B) get up and get on with it. When I saw the replays I was 100% certain the penalty would be given. Would even have been given against The The Rangers. I was however also 100% sure Mandron would miss when he took the ball.
  5. Some of the passing in the first 20 minutes was outstanding. A bit more mobility and awareness from our strikers and we’d have gone ahead in that period.
  6. Even discounting the penalty miss, I think 4 times in the second half we hit the ball narrowly by when it’d have been easier to score. Livvy defenders also blocked a good few shots from the edge of the box. Go there and get 21 shots on goal and we really should be taking at least one point away. Just not our day.
  7. Good to see Robbo raging; he absolutely should be. You can see why Livvy haven’t won a game for so long; and we’re the suckers that stroll up and gift them a win.
  8. If that’s how Livvy play then you really will be down.
  9. How the hell did we lose that. Livingston are absolutely rank, but scored a goal from a rebound, and we couldn’t even score a penalty - and Mandron then even missed from 2 yards out. Really decent football from us at times, but lack of a finisher really going to cost us.
  10. A few Saints players claimed it hit the Livvy players hand just before he shot; but VARs never going to overturn that.
  11. Thought for first 20 minutes we actually played some really nice football, but with no end product. Absolute kick in the stones to lose a goal like that at that point to a very poor Livingston. I’m guessing this is the kind of ‘break’ Livingston just haven’t been getting recently? I’d take Scott off at HT, only real disappointment in the Saints team - hopefully he’s still getting up to speed.
  12. Aye Saints were 1 up. Ayunga got red carded for handball and Livvy missed the penalty. Livvy equalise late on; but the 10 men get the winner in the 90th minute. Not a dull match!
  13. On the game for a second. I couldn’t understand how the first goal ended up going in. Seemed a pretty weak shot, and central, so thought a mistake from Hemming. But just watched the highlights and it inexplicably goes through Dunne’s legs which is what puts Hemming off. Bit of a freak goal. Second also fell perfectly for Maida after hurting rhe bar, opposite of what happened when we hit the bar. Fine margins. I’ve regularly seen Saints absolutely pummelled by Celtic, so even although we lost today the team can take a lot from this.
  14. No, they have three grandkids - now 8, 10 and 13. But 5, 7 and 10 when we got promoted They live nearby and walk to the ground. The atmosphere around the stadium is very very different when Celtic and Rangers roll into town and I totally understand them not wanting to walk there young kids through it. When it comes to being in the stadium, they’re probably too young to understand the IRA songs or those about being up to your knees in the blood of dead catholics, but I think that’s something the grandparents aren’t unhappy missing. It’s normal for you guys, you’ve grown up with it. You see it every week. But the rest of us still don’t get why grown men in 2024 still do it.
  15. Two friends of mine have season tickets with their three grandkids. They never go to games against the OF, even though they’ve paid for them.
  16. 18 shots on goal for both teams, and Saints 11 corners to Celtic’s 4. I know it’s goals that matter, and disappointed to go out, but first time in a long time - even in games we’ve beaten them - that we’ve dominated Celtic for large parts of the game. Think the team will actually end up taking confidence from this, even in a defeat.
  17. Yeah I heard that too. So unfair for Celtic and Rangers with players unfit or unavailable. Never happens to other teams. Those two clubs somehow manage to rise above all the difficulties thrown in their way.
  18. Probably the best I’ve seen us play against either of the cheeks. Travesty we’re behind, but absolutely didn’t lead to heads going down. Will need to use all the subs I think to keep up this intensity. But we’re very much still in a this. Very different to their last visit.
  19. Just watching cup highlights. Two Rangers players did tackles that were worse than Bolton’s red card, and neither were even a yellow.
  20. True. But I can’t help thinking that’s in part down to the Ayr staunchnes.
  21. His performance on Wednesday night showed he's already in that camp.
  22. I think the problem is really bad subsidence in that whole area, and slowly but surely the houses would have become unsafe. Sad, as they houses themselves were good - just not what they were built on.
  23. Jeeze! I’m not even sure that’s a yellow. He pulls out, his leg is on the ground, he doesn’t contact his opponent. How after seeing that again can he say that’s a straight red!?!? Almost as bizarre as flagging Saints second goal offside.
  24. Aye, after a slow start he's put in some really solid performances, so, happy with this. Gogic next please!
