  1. I would take Bowyer in a heartbeat if given the chance tbh
  2. I don’t know what’s happened with Fox. In league 1 and the first 4/5 months of last season, I had Fox as a nailed down future Scottish premiership level defender but something has went badly wrong the last 9/10 months. His presence has disappeared, he struggles with concentration and isn’t anywhere near as confident on the ball anymore. He was awfully poor the end of last season but I put that down to the whole team collapsing under high pressure moments. He’s probably on a decent wage and unfortunately he’s been a liability for a while now. Said for a wee bit that the guy could do with a change of scenery as we’ve all seen how capable he is. Just seems to have gone very stale for him at us now
  3. Robson has fell off massively unfortunately. I used to have him as mr consistent but he’s been in free fall since February. He tries but defensively he’s been dreadful and been at fault for a few goals. Still not convinced in any way about tizzard also. Has the attributes but he’s incredibly brainless on several occasions. I had him down as raw at the start of the season but the more it’s going on, he looks a liability The defence is murder. We can have preferences in midfield and attack but the defence is what killing us. McPherson just about passable but he’s very suspect defensively, especially 1v1. Tizzard/Fox having similarly bad seasons (heard a rumour fox is out for 2 months). Bannon fine but needs an experienced head next to him and Reid was badly exposed yesterday, especially for pace
  4. Tam Courts would be my number one pick for me Rhys McCabe, I’d definitely be asking the question. Would he actually want to join, I’m not so sure but I’d say it’s worth the try. Tries to play good football, strong emphasis on young guys but crucially actually still wins games of football in the process
  5. Normally with a managerial sacking, there’s a sense of relief but I struggle to get that feeling this time round. Did the sacking need to happen? Absolutely. I’ve no doubts Veldman is a decent coach and is a highly credible guy for youth football but his in game decisions at crucial points alongside some stubborn and wild tactical decisions meant that his position was untenable. Has he improved anyone? I wouldn’t say so. I thought after we played thistle at Hampden, we were beginning to turn a corner but we’ve simply reverted back to the stale, lifeless brand football at a much much worse standard. Yesterday was as bad as I’ve seen it for a number of years The issue I have is that yet again, the club have made an absolute backside in their decision making. If I were told even 5 years ago, Queen’s Park would be in the championship itself, even if we were fighting relegation, I’d of bit your hand off for it but the reality is that I have zero appetite on the Saturday for matches just now. That’s not simply because we’re rubbish at football currently, it’s a wider issue where there’s serious questions being asked on what the direction of the club is. Will we get any indication over the coming months? Based on recent history, then absolutely not but something needs to change because we simply won’t be sustainable in any sense once Haughey’s 10 years of funding is finished Also, this doesn’t take away accountability of the players. For as bad as the management team have been, the players really need a good look at themselves. Serious questions raised about their character and overall effort in recent weeks. The thistle and Inverness game in particular were beyond pathetic. Ferrie, turner and Thomas I’d be giving pass marks in recent times but some need a kick up the backside. Problem is the depth is so bare, we don’t have anyone challenging particular players whether they play good or not
  6. No ifs or buts now. He’s got to go tonight That was the most gutless 2nd half performance I’ve seen from a qp side. I can accept being crap and generally not very good but when you don’t try an ounce to win your battles, track runners or even stick a tackle in, that’s when you know you’ve lost the dressing room
  7. Fairly big opportunity this week with the bottom two playing each other and Ayr away at Dundee United. There’s a high chance that the winner of this game end the weekend in 6th place. Need to have some sort of momentum going into the Morton game next week Failure to win any of the next two and Veldman has to go. Hope he turns it around today
  8. A full of season of Lawrence Shankland out wide and Jamie longworth essentially playing midfield to compensate for Quinn and Keenan up top a personal favourite of speirs. Generally very sound at recruitment and got us playing excellent football but some utterly bizzare tactical decisions killed him That Peterhead away game in 2013 when ian watt was brought back from absolute nowhere from a loan to start in a play off semi final, only to get hooked at half time All the best to him, can’t argue with the amount of years he’s given to the club
  9. Absolute drivel Even though the comparison with Martindale has almost zero relevance, does that mean you’re seamlessly willing to accept someone in charge of a club based in one of the most diverse areas in Scotland? What message is that sending to the community in terms of enticing them to come to games and grow the fan base. It’s polar opposite of what the club are trying to be. You’d be sticking 2 fingers up to large parts of the southside appointing him Football is a privileged position to be involved in career wise and anyone who has such views on particular communities deserves zero relevance in the sport Outwith that, he’s an objectively terrible football manager in general
  10. I may be in a minority but I’m quite gutted to see Beuker depart so soon. There was a whole plan in place to ensure that the foundations were set for the club’s stability playing at a moderately decent level ( ie championship level and above) for years to come beyond Haughey’s 10 years of funding Granted this season hasn’t been great by any means and I’ve highlighted my frustrations on here with certain aspects of recruitment and squad depth but in no way was Beuker ever the primary issue nor did I want him gone from the club. I think other aspects from the club regarding the stadium shambles and the shocking lack of engagement with supporters has amplified any sort of perceived error that Beuker may make now things aren’t as rosy on the pitch. I want the club to follow in the same direction as they were doing. Maybe not as rigid and as quickly as we’re attempting to this season, but we have to still align with giving youth a pathway if we’re to have any chance of being a competitive full time side for the next 10/15 years
  11. Utterly lifeless performance. Every single game, the first thing that goes wrong we simply don’t recover. Over 100 days since we last won in the league and over 100 days since we last stopped a cross. Pathetic defending all round once again Mckinstry granted he clearly isn’t fit was so so poor for the 2nd goal. Zero attempt to stop the cross Desperately want this to work for Veldman but nobody is learning and we’re making the same errors week after week Morton away mid December is still bookmarked as the game Veldman will get sacked if we’ve made zero progress until then imo
  12. I’m not swapping Wotherspoon for Spong at all. There’s an argument for Turner but the last month, he’s really showing us what he’s about now and knows where the back of the net is. Longridge, I’d swap but realistically our starting midfield consists of spong, Thomson and turner. Thomson if he had an ounce of composure in the final third would be in the Scottish premiership by now
  13. Hepburn may have more goals but his general contribution on the pitch over a 90 minute period is far less influential than Thomas in terms of build up and linking up play (which it should be given Dom’s experience) Thomas has been hot and cold this season and hasn’t hit the levels as consistently as he was last season but he’s still our best and most important player. Personally think he’s been much better the last 3 games and 2nd half today, he was excellent. Hepburn clearly is a very naturally talented player but he’s still raw on so many aspects which have been clear as day at championship level. He’s light as a feather and doesn’t know how to use his body effectively to hold the ball up or get away from his man enough without being brushed off the ball. This season will do wonders for his development but given our lack of depth, the expectation level set on him to be instantly effective on a regular basis is quite high which is harsh but it’s the reality given our squad size One of my pet peeves in football are those that say ‘he only scores tap ins’ to discredit a striker. If it was that easy, then why isn’t every professional striker doing that then ? He’s the top scorer in the championship in an absolute wreck of a team so far, who for large periods of the season have created absolute zilch going forward. Do people not realise how difficult it is to sign a semi competent goalscorer at this level, nevermind a 23 year old goalscorer on a 3 year deal. Short memories to the back end of last season when everyone was crying out for a goalscorer once Murray left and was left to deal with shields and Henderson up top. If only we had someone that only scores tap ins and we’d be in the premiership this season
  14. I’d punt Veldman right now if I could but I genuinely cannot see a scenario where Beuker honestly goes for it, certainly not in the short-medium term future. This is a ‘Beuker’ appointment. Beuker will realise that this is a mark against his name, his ego won’t allow it Realistically when does Veldman’s job become totally untenable? I’ve bookmarked Morton away mid December as the game he’ll have a realistic chance of getting sacked if we’ve had no wins until then
  15. I mean we do literally have the joint top scorer in the league up top. Depth is badly needed but I’d more inclined to say we need more goals from out wide. I love Thomas but he’s not got a goalscoring bone in his body Defence is honking which is our issue, barring the obvious managerial dud in the dugout. McPherson has kicked on nicely at right back but the amount of times Tommy Robson has been posted missing defensively recently has been disappointing. An incredibly consistent performer for large parts of his time at QP but I feel like he’s never reached the levels since February time when he took on the captaincy
  16. Some laugh that we’re actually going to get relegated with a guy up top likely to score 20 goals in all comps Please for Jack Turner also. Despite the horror show at the end, he’s came on significantly the last month in the advanced role. Hopefully he can help relieve the pressure off Paton across the season as I can see Turner hitting double figures on our route to league 1
  17. Are we going to get a Veldman post match interview? Would be cowardly of the highest order if he hasn’t done so
  18. Agreed. All would look handy in a game of 5 a side but lack zero heart whatsoever in first team football. Could not believe Healy’s ‘attempt’ of stopping the cross for Raith’s 2nd. You’d think he ran his heart out for 90 minutes with how slow he was going. I’m not surprised he’s not seen the pitch for a long while, unfortunately doesn’t look the player I thought he’d be Hepburn’s decision making for the 3v2 at 2-1 was inexcusable and the lack of strength in him to win the ball back was infuriating
  19. That just isn’t on in any scenario. The manager is showing serious deficiencies in game management which hasn’t changed at any point this season. Every time we take a rare lead, the visible difference in composure and confidence on the ball is embarrassing. I could not believe we ended the game with Mauchin and Healy on the right hand side. Healy’s attempt of closing the cross down for the 2nd goal was disgraceful. These are guys with zero experience being chucked under the bus against experienced and effective championship level players like Easton, Hamilton and Gullan. What did Veldman honestly think was gonna happen ? Tonight was Veldman’s big chance to get 3 points and he absolutely blew it (again) Get him out
  20. Cheerio Veldman. The lack of bottle is absolutely astounding from everyone involved. Insane substitutes once again taking off McPherson and Thomas on the right side for a boy essentially making his debut via the youth team and Healy who hasn’t been seen for about 6 weeks. Utterly needless when we looked in control at that point. The visible drop off in game management was nothing short of a disgrace Fair play to Raith. If only we had even an ounce of bottle like yourselves
  21. Same old mistakes at the back costing us again first half. If we’re to win any games, it seems like we’ll need to score 2 or 3 goals minimum which simply isn’t sustainable over a season. The 2nd goal was utterly appalling and just summed up our entire defensive woes Subs made a big difference and the introduction of Ben McPherson gave us a lot more power and pace down the right side which was resulting in overloads and loads of 2v1 scenarios. The lack of movement in the box is still frustrating but the crosses are certainly improving Need to be so much better defensively but it’ll do the players the world of good knowing they’re capable of coming back from 2 goals down away from home to snatch a point. They could of easily lost their heads and conceded another 2 or 3 Delighted to see Paton score yet again. Some comments about his overall performance this season have been fairly harsh in recent weeks but yet again he’s providing the goods. The guy is a proper goalscorer. Would like to see a wee bit more off the ball but I don’t care so long as he’s hitting the ball in the net We’re nowhere near perfect but it’s slowly getting there in some aspects
  22. For the first time in a while, I’m actually looking forward to the match. It still feels like 5 years since we last won a match in the league but slowly but surely there’s been signs of improvement the last couple weeks and we look much more like a competent championship side compared to 3/4 weeks ago. Still look wildly suspect defensively be we’re not as open as we have been previously The Ayr match at Hampden was probably one of the worst defensive performances I’ve seen in my lifetime from a QP side and that includes the amateur era. Horrifying amount of self inflicted errors which Ayr capitalised very well on The thistle performance on Friday was excellent but it means nothing if we can’t back it up. We have to now consistently play like that and try our best to not get dragged into the bottom 2 throughout the season
  23. I mean if you’re going to ‘report’ something, at least get your facts right before acting like a smart arse. Assists have not only been in the cup only as I’m sure you forgot to ‘report’ his perfectly weighted low cross at home to Arbroath for Barry Hepburn’s opener and you forgot to ‘report’ his cross that got us off to a flyer away at Dundee United. If Ruari Paton was not present this season, we’d have precisely one win at this stage You say you’re ‘reporting’ about Ruari Paton but clearly denying his impact in the league is classed as downplaying as stated above Firstly Nicky Jamieson’s departure in 2020 was a Peter Grant masterplan. Simon Murray was then ultimate charlatan and now Paton is a greeting faced striker with nae pals? I do love the bold assumptions FTFY
