  1. How good is Sean Welsh btw. Guy is an absolute joy in the midfield. He’d be my captain for next season

Happy with that point. Similar feel to the Morton game where we had to withstand periods of pressure but we stood up to to the task. Wilson superb once again, still find it mad that we managed to get him for 18 months

Subs didn’t help. I actually thought Mckinstry tried to put himself about, it was more Bruce and Turner I had concerns with. Bruce has been highly touted within the club for a few years now but I’m yet to see the hype. He’s not amazing going forward and isn’t brilliant defensively. He’s steady but has moments of carelessness which he showed in the short period of time he was on

Turner has fell off a cliff, basically since Davidson was appointed. Just don’t think he suits the system.

With Inverness playing United and thistle away next couple weeks, those 2 points picked up from today and Thistle are proving to be crucial and potentially an opportunity to create a larger gap hopefully

I’m maybe being harsh, but he looks like another one that just isn’t ready for L2. Not as much as Gallagher Lennon, maybe, but I think it’s a level beyond him atm.

Of course, it could just be who’s managing him. Wouldn’t be at all shocked if him and others go on to great things, like many whom his predecessor and former boss couldn’t get a tune out of did (Kevin Nisbet, Eamonn Brophy spring to mind).

A shame to hear that. Was hoping a move down to league 2 would be beneficial in his development. He looked raw but really promising the back end of last season in the championship but this season, his confidence seems shot to pieces.

Plenty of time to revive his career given he has 3 years left on his deal but not sure an unimpressive stint at yourselves will do his chances any good

  3. A missed opportunity but thought we were really decent throughout. Even at 2-0, I was never convinced the game was dead given thistle’s attacking options. Lawless in particular was causing problems as he always does against us. Adeloye changed the game and at that point, thistle looked odds on for a winner. That was until Adeloye crocked himself and we then regained control of the game and were very close to getting a winner

A point in isolation isn’t bad and the team is a million miles better from what it was a couple months back. Sheridan and Paton were again terrific up top. Sheridan has 2 starts- 2 goals and 3 assists. Could end up being the difference maker in keeping us away from 9th. 20 goals in all comps for Paton now, the guy is an outstanding striker and at 23 years old I don’t see him being with us next season regardless what league we’re in. Think we’ll get a very decent fee for him

Im more than confident this team does not finish 9th

Ref was absolutely howling btw. Didn’t seem to be many complaints about the penalty but his decisions to hand at yellows cards needlessly was ridiculous

  4. Going by his Instagram, it seems a very real possibility that Savoury has done his acl again. Picture of his knee bandaged up saying “2nd one”

Was really looking forward to the prospect of seeing him play last few games but if it is indeed another ACL, you struggle to see where he goes from here in terms of his football career

    Hope I’m completely wrong though

I'm obviously over the moon after last night's result but I don't think it could be used as a yardstick. Arbroath were absolutely tragic and they should be seen as an exception to the competition we have in the league. Any team that can't claim all three points from them (home/away) in the rest of the season should hang their heads in shame (including us in our next game against them). It's not like they had a really bad day, they just don't belong in the Championship this season.

Saturday's game against Airdrie is a proper yardstick. I'd settle for a goalless draw but if we can claim all three points, we stay in this league.

I don’t know, Arbroath went and drew with Dunfermline and drew with Inverness where they had to score with the last kick of the ball for an equaliser prior to playing us. They’re clearly the worst team in the league but teams will still drop points against them. Last night was a combination of catching on us a great night and catching Arbroath on a horrific one.

The body of work under Davidson since he’s joined is a measure already on how far we’ve come in a short space of time and the way he’s improved players like Bannon, Tizzard and even Paton looks more complete up top. We were comfortably the worst side in the league first half of the season and now we’re bizarrely 8 points behind 3rd (Aware that’s very ambitious but you can always dream)

Cant express enough how class our recruitment has been. Welsh, Scott and Wilson particularly have been upgrades on anyone we had in their respective positions.

19 goals now for Paton in all comps. Don’t think we’ve had a striker hit 20 since longworth back in 2012?

  6. I do have empathy for Arbroath. A horrendous record across the season which would impact any team in this league. However, that was honestly one of, If not the worst performance I’ve seen from an opposition team since we beat Falkirk 6-0 a few years back in league 1. Some genuinely comical goals especially in the 2nd half. Boruc in goals was an absolute shambles. What in the world was he doing running back to his goal for Mckinstry’s goal 🤣

For as bad as Arbroath were, I thought we were tremendous in every aspect. Cillian Sheridan was totally unplayable on occasions and he linked the play so well. The guy could run about also, getting in behind countless times which was a pleasant surprise. If he does nothing for the rest of the season, he’ll be remembered fondly for tonight’s performance

Delighted for McLeish to get his first senior goal, he looks a player who’s capable of stepping up from youth team. Pleasing to see Mckinstry score and look confident afterwards on the ball. Maybe this is the type of game he needed to get some confidence. Hope he kicks on

Really tough game on Saturday but I’ll worry about that later. Tonight was outstanding

  7. Think I’m changing who I think will end up 9th every week. I’m going to assume Arbroath finish 10th (dangerous assumption but honestly can’t see anything higher even if they get the odd win from this point)

For large periods, I had ourselves as the main candidate for 9th but Davidson really has turned things around for us and we’re generally really solid at the back now. Having one of the best strikers in the league is also a bonus

For a couple weeks, my money was on Dunfermline but I’m not convinced they’re going to be mince for the rest of the season (thistle result was huge) Inverness I feel can pull a couple of decent results for no reason at all other than a hunch

As of today, I’m really curious to see how Airdrie get on over the next few games. They’ve done very well this season and I hadn’t even considered them for 9th until the last 2-3 weeks but having looked at their remaining fixtures, 8 of their remaining 13 games are away from home and they have the worst away record in the league if I’m not mistaken? (Of course one of the away wins were against us) In contrast, their home form is excellent and I’m very curious to see how we get on when we play them next Saturday

    So hard to tell

  8. Subs today in general killed any sort of momentum we had. Mckinstry was rotten and I’m still not convinced about Mauchin entirely. Until United’s 3rd goal, I really did think we were better team 2nd half. If only McPherson put his chance away at 1-0 in the first half though🥲

Paton, Welsh and Thomson all excellent and other than the Dunfermline result, all the other results were perfect for us. Really big week coming up against Arbroath and Airdrie. Win both or get 4 points from 6 and i think we’ll be in a decent position to avoid 9th place

  9. Josh McPake is a really interesting one. Am I surprised to see him drop into part time football- Yes and no

You’d naturally think that being on the fringes at Rangers and playing a number of games for a team that were a game away from the premiership would comfortably remain in full time football but in truth he epitomised the term “flattered to deceive” alongside a lot murmurs regarding his poor attitude throughout last season.

He has ability and for one month of last season, he was excellent. However, he was a one trick pony, where he’d cut in from the left and have a dig. It worked for a little bit but once defenders sussed him out, he was largely underwhelming

I think this is exactly the type of move he needs at this stage of his career. A point to prove and not relying on the Rangers status or even full time status to get him clubs. Everything now has to be proved on the pitch.

  10. Can’t say I’m too enamoured by the Sheridan signing at all but I’ll only judge him fully by his contribution in a QP jersey, it’s only fair. He seems to suggest in his interview that there’s an opportunity to sign beyond this season if he does well so hopefully he’s highly motivated to show what he’s got when he’s on the pitch

    Great news.

Do we know who else is out of contract at the end of the season?

    Grant Savoury springs to mind.

    Savoury

    Robson

    Jarrett

    Bruce

    Longridge

    Scott

    Hinds

Savoury and Bruce are realistically the only ones I’d be looking to sign up again at this point. Can’t really judge Scott or Hinds yet as they’ve just joined although I like the look of Scott

That being said, Walsh is doing a brilliant job as no 6

He’s been a class act since he joined (minus the red against Ayr) So calm in possession, wins a surprising number of headers and knows his position so well. If only he’d been about since the start of the season

I know he’s had an awful injury record throughout his career but I find it utterly bizzare Inverness let a player of his quality go, nevermind to a relegation rival midway through the season

  13. I think we should call it quits on the Stuart Mckinstry experiment in the first eleven. Another underwhelming performance, thank goodness he’s only here until the end of the season. I was buzzing when he signed but ultimately he’s been a huge flop

There’s sprinkles of talent on occasions but loses the ball far too often and it’s often lost in dangerous areas

Every single save he made was straight at him, you’d have been raging if he didn’t stop any of them.
Ryan Mullen just had his 10th (IIRC) clean sheet in our last 14 games, I know who I’d rather have in our goal.

    Okay mate 🤣🤣🤣

  15. Yeah we got away with that today but the total shift in mindset nowadays (especially defensively) under Davidson is incomparable to Veldman and to some extent, Coyle. We look horrible one the eye at times going forward (virtually zero attacking intent today) but we battled hard and kept going even when we were massively under the cosh 2nd half. We lose that game 10/10 times under Veldman. If you’re not going to win the game, make sure you don’t lose it either

If there’s any doubts as to whether Cal Ferrie is a bombscare goalie, I think today proved what a fantastic keeper he is at this level. The best keeper in the league no doubts and I’m sure he’ll probably move on to bigger things in the summer being out of contract. Quite outrageous saves in the 2nd half

Morton were really decent imo. They have their way of playing but it works and it works well. No denying they’re physical but they can play the ball on the deck effectively also. The entire 2nd half had an air of inevitability about Morton scoring but thankfully wasn’t the case

A good point which keeps things ticking over to Dundee United next week. A big ask but the players should be going in to it with an element of belief. Dundee United are no great shakes

Failing to beat a better side when they have ten men, and conceding one penalty in the penultimate game at Cappielow hardly constitute horror shows.

The afternoon that Ferrie had a howler, yes. And you maybe deserved better from the draw at Ochilview because of the disallowed goal, but one out of six isn’t even close to “always” producing a horror show.

Apologies that you seem to have took that statement far too literal and took offence to it. As a QP fan, they’ve felt like horror shows as we’ve performed really poorly in all of them (in crucial points of the season), which is a credit to Morton and imrie. It’s just always the fixture that we seem to never turn up or get going for.
