  1. Yep, we'd all be delighted with it, but the post I quoted seemed to be suggesting 8th should be avoided. I'm assuming they meant 9th!
  2. Airdrie have scored the fewest goals in the league (joint with Arbroath) and we've had 4 clean sheets in our last 5 games. Hopefully we can stifle them well enough and hit back a couple of times on the counter. I actually think a draw would be a bad result here. We have a tough run of fixtures coming up, and need to be taking as many points as we can from the teams outside the top 4 unless we want to be in the mix for the relegation playoffs right up until the last day of the season.
  3. There have been at least 15 teams better than Greenock Morton in Scotland 27 out in the past 30 years if my quick Google search is right, so regularly bucking that trend seems like a reasonable objective to me.
  4. All four of these teams are well and truly in the mix.
  5. If that's the case then I obviously hope he's doing better now; like anyone else who plays for us I still hope he does well and proves me wrong, but I've not seen anywhere near enough from him to believe he has what it takes to compete at this level.
  6. I think his main issue is ability rather than attitude, but I do find it unusual that a young guy who must've had offers on the table and was obviously waiting for others didn't keep himself fit over the summer unless he was considering retiring at the ripe old age of 20.
  7. I've heard a few comments along the same lines suggesting that whoever finishes 9th will likely stay up, but I think it's far too early to be confident of that. Having seen us get promoted through them a couple of years ago despite being relatively poor for most of the season, I believe it's all about momentum at the right time. If Airdrie, for example, were to slide down the table and find themselves in a playoff tie against an on form Alloa I certainly wouldn't be putting any money on them staying up. Arbroath on the other hand have struggled massively this season, but if they somehow claw their way out of the bottom spot they'll be feeling good about themselves and I'd give them a real shot of staying up. It's all about how you find yourself in 9th come the end of the season (and the form of the League One playoff sides).
  8. Surely nobody still thinks McKinstry should get a game after that today? He floats about the pitch and the game just passes right by him. A very poor player.
  9. Yeah I casually follow the Maryland Terrapins who have started the season fairly well! Found this very funny from the Padres Dodgers game tonight:
  10. I believe the age limit is only for Celtic and Rangers as it's their B teams that enter the the tournament, whereas for us, Thistle, and Clyde it's officially our first team despite however many youths we play in it. If I'm not mistaken we're expected to play a certain number of recognised first team players.
  11. What's the deal with Ross Docherty, is he injured again? I don't necessarily expect us to get a result here, but I definitely think it's a possibility.
  12. If we are signing Sheridan until the end of the season it's purely to bulk up the squad and give us another option off the bench. Nothing to get excited about but hardly the end of the world either.
  13. Tommy Robson as well, although I think his days at the club are probably numbered, he's definitely struggled for a fair while now.
  14. And he still made the Championship team of the season. It's almost as if one daft performance doesn't define a goalkeeper.
  15. I do actually. His saves were fantastic, the shots he kept out would have beaten the vast majority of goalkeepers. Hope that helps!
  16. A Morton fan without eyes; surprising, normally people from Greenock have three of them.
  17. Never trust a highlight video on YouTube, Steven Eze's made him look like Maldini in his prime.
  18. Hasn't had much of a career so far but if he's been training with us for a couple of weeks Davidson must see something in him, so he's worth a shot.
  19. I don't think anybody is suggesting it's actually magic, what often happens though is that it's awarded to the manager of a team that's overperforming to a degree and is bound to regress somewhat eventually.
  20. The big difference between Tizzard under Veldman and Davidson is that he's not being asked to do things he's clearly not capable of anymore. As an outright defender, who sits deep and does the basics, he's proven himself to be very decent the last couple of weeks. He's stopped making daft mistakes because he's not being forced into situations where it's easy for that to happen. I'm really pleased for him and hope he can keep it up.
  21. Makes sense that Kane has ended up at Dunfermline if he's just looking to play football. I can't imagine he fancied being an option off the bench for us, but he should start for them.
  22. Why do Morton fans get so upset when people suggest that they're a physical team? I agree that it's occasionally exaggerated, but they're well on track for most yellow cards in the division for the second season in a row. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that being a part of your game, especially when it gets results.
  23. Cheers. Somewhat surprised to see us linked with another striker to be honest, we also only play with one of them and Ruari Paton is as good as they come at this level. I think he'd start for Dunfermline but probably not for us so I could see him ending up there instead.
