  1. Was thinking exactly this as well. Our style of play, along with var have made going to matches a real chore. And that today was us creating more than we have done in every other match this season! I’m just about prepared to suffer more of this negative shiteball until the end of the season given we’re in a relegation scrap. But I’d like to know if we survive then is the intention to continue along these lines? If it is then I agree, just pull the plug and relegate us so we can start afresh. I was actually watching wondering what the difference between this and Davidson post-double was in the first half; pack the team with defenders, let the opposition dominate midfield due to our complete lack of numbers in there, and have our strikers feeding off scraps.
  2. It was nowhere near our biggest support through there even in the past 4 years and well you know it. But that’s by the by, the more positive team won today. Enjoy.
  3. You’re trying too hard lalo, just enjoy your 3 points and pipe down, there’s a good lad.
  4. As usual we choose to stop going forward and concede goals. Soft penalty for the first but we probably had it coming. Might have been different if considine’s header onto the bar had gone in. That ref needs disciplined for that at the end. Your main concern is the safety of the players and he plays on through a serious head knock. Hope the Dundee lad - Mellon? is okay.
  5. Sidibeh has won just about every header he’s challenged for and been a constant threat to your back line. Was also heavily involved in the build up to our goal. He’s looked more dangerous than any Dundee striker so far, though Dundee’s midfield looks a lot better than ours. It hasn’t come off for him yet when trying to break, but he’s a handful. Owen Beck has done well to stop him a few times.
  6. Folk generally only think of Dundee winning the league and relegating us at Muirton in the early sixties. On our side when the two sides were first and second in the old first division in 1997(?) and Saints pumped the dees 7-2 in the new year game, or McDiarmid’s record attendance on the last match of the season in 1999 between the teams when Saints were trying to clinch third in the premier league. But do any fans from either side remember the 1980-81 season? I was just a wee boy at primary school so can’t remember anything about it other than someone having a panini sticker of the Dundee team group, it must have been the Monday after they pipped Saints to promotion on goal difference. The sticker got grabbed off the boy and everyone in the playground took turns to cough up a greener and gob on it. I seem to remember East Stirling were involved.. maybe Dundee beat them in their last game of the season? Ally McCoist of Saints was top scorer in the league that season. Must be other big matches/ seasons over the years when we’ve been up against each other?? ETA: Can’t believe there’s footage of it. It was East Stirling away that the coags clinched promotion. For balance, from the 7-2 match:
  7. If you think the strips are bad, have a butcher’s at their warm up tops. Looks like they picked a job lot of them up from a 1980’s Eastern bloc sports outlet.
  8. @SJFCtheTeamForMe has pretty much nailed it. Was outstanding in our DOUBLE season but not played a lot since. He did do very well in the championship a few years back when he was on the fringes of our first team in his younger days. Did well at both Dumbarton and QOS.
  9. Hopefully! He’ll likely start on the bench though. Costelloe to score is a banker. After seeing Theo Bair turn into Lewandowski the minute he left, nothing is surer.
  10. Now come on, you lads are all over our forum when we get beat so it’s hardly a one way thing.
  11. Superb Morton, well played. A proper exciting cup tie. Be good if the tv companies took note that this is what happens when you don’t just show the Old Firm games every single cup match.
  12. All the best to James Brown, hope he does well at Raith Rovers and they can get back on track to win the title. Not good enough for us if we want to improve, but no animosity from me as I think he was an honest player who gave his best. Also got wedged in wherever we needed cover which probably never helped him settle in the side. Should have kicked on this season, but seemed to lose his way with big mistakes at key times. Came to Saints as back up and ended up with two major cup medals. That goal v Rangers is also probably in the top 10 Saints goals scored at McDiarmid Park.
  13. Agree, it’s a league with very few consistently capable teams in it, so any kind of half-decent form gives you a great chance of climbing the table. Livingston going on a diabolical run of 3 points from 17 matches has fair helped our rise from the bottom as well. Regarding this match, with Dundee’s defence shipping a lot of goals, gives a bit of hope that we can make use of our pace on the break to nick a goal or two. Feels like that or a set piece are our only realistic chances of scoring.
  14. @Dundee-FC92 coming out swinging before the big derby I see, atta boy !!
  15. Yep. It takes us a match and a half to do one of those goal things that all other fanbases seem to get so worked up about. Don’t see what all the fuss is about to be honest. Until you’ve watched your team get the ball in a reasonably threatening position in the opponents half and gradually, pass after complete shitebag pass, you work it back to your own keeper who has to clear it under pressure. This is where artistry truly lies.
  16. 100% agree on Gallacher I’m afraid. An empty jersey. We have to do much better than that. He’s Scottish championship standard at best. Robinson was okay up to the break, probably in our top 4 performers after a slow start, but he’s been very poor since returning.
  17. I’m not convinced yet. Just need county to make a sensible appointment and they’re only a couple of wins away from leapfrogging us, with us still to play post split. We just don’t win enough games to pull completely clear of trouble. We should draw our way to safety though.
  18. We were saying exactly that about Max. Technical ability but he’s turning into an absolute nothing of a footballer. Pass it sideways or backwards at all costs. He did well to set up Adamas chance late on but that was it. Our first thought should be can we move the ball forward? If no then go back and start again. But it’s the opposite every time we’re in possession, it’s total shitebag football. We do it without looking or thinking to the point hearts players were anticipating it. McGowan and Considine are about our best players just now, turning out some good performances thought the goal looked a bit of a mess. Carey has some nice touches but when he’s the only player in the team that can create, we probably miss him higher up the park. It was bizarre watching Olufunwa in that first half desperate to go inside and stand beside our other 3 marked players in there rather than go into the acres of space on the wing. He was surely told to go inside to create space for Franz to run wide (who didn’t. Was that why he was subbed?) as it happened too often just to be a poor decision.
  19. I thought that was a bit shite. No disgrace etc but we are utterly incompetent from midfield to front. Playing it backwards to keep possession, working it across the back is fine when there’s nothing on, but it’s our go to tactic. We play it back and sideways so much hearts players started to anticipate our players would turn back the way, and nicked the ball several times. Theres occasions where we have space to run into and we just don’t, and end up fannying about till we’re under pressure and squaff it out for a throw in. Tony Gallacher, Luke Robinson, Olufunwa and particularly Max kucheriavyi I’m looking at all of you! It’s more of the same that we’ve had for a few years now, as long as it’s 0-0 we’re happy. We never want to take the game to the opposition, that was a free hit tonight after county’s result. Two exciting new forwards and they’ll be feeding off scraps all season. Didnt think hearts were any great shakes, but they were comfortable winners, and shankland will make a difference in every tight match you play so the points will keep piling in as long as he stays fit.
  20. This is going to be great. I hope he einds up the old firm and west coast media to f**k. I feel I should dislike him but can’t help but warm to him in interviews. Comparing Aberdeen’s support to QPR and Crystal Palace, two of the dullest fanbases in England, shows he has done his homework on the club.
