  1. I once endeared myself to the fans of Montrose when I predicted that league success would come their way. I have been silent ever since but may I suggest that Cowdenbeath will still be an SPFL club next season. The club is run by hard working genuine footballing people and under Maurice Ross the team performances have improved . Furthermore, I would expect Cowden' to be challenging at the top end of the league next season.
  2. I really miss this guy and his amusing but often straight to the point comments on the state of lower league Scottish football. Anyone ‘Shed’ any light ?
  3. Thought you Annan guys would keep quiet about the potential unearthing of another footballing prospect . The Clyde bandits will pitching their tents soon enough !
  4. Rumour has it that Willie Gibson has been released. Can anyone confirm this ?
  5. Good luck to Matty Flynn. Still very well thought of by those down in Annan .
  6. Has Chris Johnson actually signed for Clyde or is it wishful thinking or a rumour loosely based on the ramblings of a guy standing at a corner flag with ten pints in him ?
  7. I have seen enough of Berwick this season to suggest that if they can play to their full potential and contain Cove’s euphoria things should work out fine . The vast majority of SPFL 2 want you to remain a league side so good luck and do not give in .
  8. Berwick may not have scored many goals recently but the standard of the opposition has been higher than that experienced by Cove. To be fair, I have not seen Cove this season but I did see East Kilbride and I found them to be ordinary so the outcome from the first round of games came as no surprise. Football is football and in the main, the difference between the levels is pace, strength and sharpness of both mind and body. Berwick is used to praying in that church week in week out. These matches, as we all well know are like cup finals and can go either way. However, I say Berwick should not be dismissed lightly.
  9. Some of the comments on this and other threads is a fine example of the power of suggestion. I remember, some time ago, Clyde fans labelling Annan as “ hatchet men ; hammer throwers etc. This notion appears to have grown legs and the urban myth propagated beyond fact. I can assure you Stennie lads that nothing can be further than the truth. Whenever I’ve been down there I have not seen any evidence to support this. Indeed, half the Annan team look about eight stone soaking wet and putting in crunchers would be the last thing they would get involved in. Enjoy your night lads and go to the game with an open mind and not with the jaundiced opinions of others that should really not be throwing stones .
  10. Word is some at Edinburgh City are keen to finish 4th so Stirling to win this one .
  11. Berwick not be the pushover that most from out with the SPFL think . If they play like they did in the first half against Annan they will be ok .
  12. To be fair to Jordan Hart he didn’t have much time to adjust and I felt he did well to block the initial effort. I had the pleasure of interviewing the Annan manager once upon a time and he told me that his objective was to set up Annan in much the same fashion that he was inducted into in his time at Blackburn under Kenny Dalglish. That is , soak up the pressure, hit on the break and get back on the bus leaving the opposition scratching their heads wondering how they had the best of the game but got nothing from it . From the comments here ( and previously on other club postings) it would appear that the formula is working .
  13. Not the only club from the Championship I hear ?? I said over a year ago that previous coaches didn’t do Blair any favours by merely having the ball humped up to him in the hope of a fortunate knock on due to his size. He is in fact, a good “sniffer” in the boxes with a knack of being in the right place at the right time . It is possible that he is actually a good football player.
  14. I wonder what the Clyde fans would think of that statement ?
  15. I think you guys have just made a very shrewd appointment.
  16. Hi Dutchborderer, by any chance are you from Gala’ ?
  17. Whilst on holiday in Italy with my wife a lovely couple from Northern Ireland sat down at our table and we struck up a conversation which inevitably swung round to football as it is World Cup time after all. The gentleman in that infectious NI accent says to me “ you’ll never guess who I support “? I ask who , he replies, the mighty Montrose but I haven’t been over for a long time. I was able to fill him in on the recent history and we parted congenially. Just goes to show the international language of football is still alive and that Scottish football in particular still has something to offer no matter how much we allow it to be ridiculed. We need to talk our game up as they do in other countries and not be so reticent.
  18. Old Firm Colts in L2 ? This is happening chaps. Quicker than you think.
