My concern is that they will be allowed to use the Astro at KSC, which in my opinion does not meet the criteria that is being given to clubs trying to enter. -

I’m sure that’s already the rule. You’d need to ask the league, only going by what I’ve read and heard from them on podcasts. -

No new teams allowed to ground share on a grass park. -

Looking at the pictures that venue is not suitable for WoS football. -
Sorry Dev, Stewarton United will not be able to join this year as we cannot secure any ground in our town to allow us to get a facility of the right standard. Council won’t allow an asset transfer of the not fit for purpose grass park, WoS won’t allow ground sharing or astros owned by the council. Everyone is holding on to their land for the latest town expansion.

Be hard for them to reject a member who meets the criteria when some of them don’t meet all of the criteria. -
Hi, stewarton United are looking for one more team to complete our tournament. Would you be interested in this?

It’s mainly used as a dog toilet at the moment, nobody uses it to play matches. All games are on the Astro. -

Thanks for the tip...I will try to contact Coldstream to discuss this. That’s why these forums are so valuable. -

That’s a good idea and definitely something we will look at. The sports centre pitch has no space around it so will always be a cage with no spectator facilities. But Cocklebie is a poor site at the moment. It will need a lot of money spent to come up to the required standard, and we’re advised by locals that it used to be the town tip....so if we are able to get other land it’s probably better to build what we need there. -

Perfect description of most of the parks in Ayrshire. I can only speak for my club Stewarton United. We currently play at Stewarton Sports Centre an Astro with a cage. No supporter facilities or catering. No segregation or ability to stop people watching from outside. We have tried a few times to work with the council to take over Cocklebie Park through an Asset Transfer, however one of the conditions that would be enforced makes it absolutely pointless. Due to the town being at the lower limit of green space (all sold by the council for housing development) we would be unable to fence off any area as it must all remain open to the public at all times. Therefore we are currently at a crossroads, do we give up and continue to play amateur football with no hope of any progression, or do we now try to raise a massive amount of funds to purchase some ground to improve the facilities for our community while continuing to work with the local boys club, girls club and ladies team. Build something suitable for the WoS League and hopefully grow the club and create a proper pathway that would hopefully try to stop the boys clubs teams all folding (or moving to other clubs) at around U16 level. It’s going to take a lot of money and even more work...but I’m up for the challenge. -

Thought they were classed as professional now? -
Surely the powers that be have to let the amateurs play...the local 5-a-sides are open now.

All sorted, game arranged.

Stewarton United have been let down for a friendly tomorrow. Are any Ayrshire teams available? We have a pitch and a ref booked.

Ayrshire leagues latest update was that all leagues would be the same as last season with no promotion or relegation. But have asked clubs for their ideas, so that may change. -

Have your arguments and disagreements, but please leave our club, Stewarton United, out of your squabbles. -

What about against Stewarton, surely you must agree that the goalie should have sent off? Boy taken out after knocking the ball past the goalie. Stud marks from his knee to his ankle. Red card anywhere on the park, was a terrible challenge. -

Both NF goals in the first half should not have counted. 2-0 at HT is a very different story to 2-2. Emotions run high and yes we should have controlled them better, but I don’t think that anyone watching that game tonight could not argue that the game was spoiled. We came out the blocks, got 2 early goals and then NF were getting some joy and working their way back into the game. It was going to be a tense, competitive affair with two teams wanting to win for the rest of the game but the man in the middle became the centre of attention and we took our eye off the ball. NF prospered, all the best to them for the rest of the season. I seen a comment about being bad losers, I would disagree with that, but I’m biased, and we don’t think we deserve anything and work hard for what we do get but a fair crack of the whip is all we would ask for.

Don’t forget the NF second goal...he gave it as Stewarton’s throw in...NF took it and he said play on. Our players out of position as going to take the throw...so easy to get in on goal for the striker.
