  1. Believe or not they have lower league/non league football overseas, where if your nice you can get in for free, drink during the game, try some local roll-ups and they can even provide you with a lady of the night if you wish. Sometimes the football's not bad either. Top tip, take some Scottish tat from a charity shop with you and hand it out in the club bar.
  2. No, i usually knock off 10-15 mins early as it is, but my boss would want me to work to 4 if he could. So maybe the odd game at Palmy or Annan or maybe just save my money and go a wee football jaunt abroad instead.
  3. Lucky you, i work to about 2.30 on a Saturday, games now 2 o'clock kick-offs, so no saturday SOS football for me know!
  4. Piss off back to the LL where the bickering is about B teams and promotion/relegation or the SOS which seemingly is not a great standard, shouldn't be at tier 6 and should merge with the West. What great options! Think i might just piss off and watch the Stewartry RFC instead
  5. D&G when i was at school was, Kirkcudbrightshire, Wigtownshire and Dumfrieshire, Kirkcudbrightshire is now the Stewartry which only have The Star and Saints in the South league
  6. The county has only one other team in it. Ask your pals at Meadow Park
  7. Surely now that Rangers B are out the League Dalbeattie Star should be invited back, just to make it a round 19 teams?
  8. Cheers. Some fans from a relegated ex-league club told us about a parachute payment, just never seen or heard anything else about it. Any chance of a parachute payment on Relegation from the LL? asking for a friend.
  9. Possible silly question coming, does the relegated League 2 team, this year the wee Rovers, get a parachute payment?
  10. It was my Saturday off, thought about going but no real affiliation towards either club or the host club so had a wee day out at Irvine Vics v Kello Rovers. Nice wee change of scenery.
  11. Cox doesn't play midweek games, got his own buisness
  12. Seemingly they have been training in Edinburgh this season. Locally based management team coming in next season, allegedly
  13. Even though they are earmarked to join the SOS would they want to join? When the 2008 were formed they were denied entry to the SOS so joined the East, think they are still members of the East FA
  14. I am sure when Threave left the LL the West and East were not part of the Pyramid, East maybe showing rumblings. Threave resigned from the LL, not relegated, so don't know if that limited there options if there were any options
  15. I am sure Kenny Murray will have a tear in his eye when he reads that!!! That's how the pyramid should be one bad season and your relegated. One positive thing i've found about the pyramid is the improvement of facilities at clubs, never though Dalbeattie would ever have floodlights. As for Dalbeattie's return, end of the season again and more half baked ideas from the powers that be, no fan or club consultation again. No doubt they think it's the best way to take Scottish football forward. Hell knows what the future football pyramid will look like, a straight line? but hopefully Dalbeattie can start climbing back up it. Mon the Star
  16. The League has got stronger and better over the years but if anything Dalbeattie have went backwards. Now is just time to reset and go again. Thoroughly enjoyed watching Dalbeattie in the Lowland League over the last 10 seasons. Hopefully see you all soon. Up the Star
  17. Correct, after 2 no votes and an abstention Dalbeattie are still a diddy club. Flushed away, yes, spent all the money gold plating the toilets and wash hand basins in the dressing rooms. What they had left they spent on handing out goody bags to away supporters, bags full of resentment and jealousy.
  18. Well done to Spartans on winning the League and best of luck in the play-offs. Would be good to see one of the original Lowland League teams getting promoted.
  19. Not being pedantic but for some reason football is the only organisation that calls down here "south" British/Scottish Government, Councils, tourist board, locals etc all call us the South West. The Borders is not known as the South or even the South East. Threave are in the WOSFL because they applied and got voted in. No shouting about that will change it whether it is liked or not.
  20. Spent a couple of seasons going to St Marys watching Saints, late seventies early eighties, i was in primary school then, the legendary old wooden stand and a caravan as a pie hut with a big shiny tea urn. Those days the ball stuck to the muddy pitch unlike now where the ball skites of the plastic pitch and up Castledykes Road
  21. I must admit i do miss a proper Star v Threave derby played on a horrible wet day, but that's not gonna happen now either
  22. Yes supporting Spartans, Albion Rovers and Bonnyrigg now. Might get some half and half scarves made
  23. The football pitch for Southerness was just along the coast at Carsethorn, right on the waters edge, glorious view across the water to the Cumbrian Fells, even on the warmest summers day it was always blowing a gale force wind. Used to stay in Crocketford, miss the rumbling lorries as well, always knew when the ferries were in
