  1. Thistle had little choice if there financial situation was to be believed and think Doolan is doing ok rather than good. A premierready team or however it was described should hopefully be looking for something a bit different. Would be interesting to know why two decent options weren't interested in joining us if the future growth plans are to be believed
  2. Most managers will want to sign their own players due to the high sacking odds. The club seem to want a percentage of players coming from a certain background in the hope they can realise a transfer fee. Might be harder to tempt a manager with this approach and more likely looking for a coach. The answer is to bin Glendinning and bring McCall in and do the transfers alongside running the team. Get all the players on longer term contacts so we can bank the cash from any that do well. We can then compare and contrast the profits with the existing structure
  3. She probably meant them not realising they are about to lose their seats at the next election. Should be following her example and heading back north for a place at the Holyrood trough.
  4. I think they probably did just shit themselves. Can't see how they will get the right person quickly either and they then have the time assuming they are actively involved in the transfer window. We need someone primarily to save our league status but then in the summer it may be a different need if hospitality funds a bigger budget to start going places. Ideally you want someone to come in and develop with the club but not easy to find them. On saying that a lot of the pre transfer work might have been done already in the background by Glendinning and they are actively targeting players. It wouldn't take a genius to work out the areas where we have large gaps that need filling. How many players also could you say were truly Lee Bullen selections. The guy Mackie he knew from Wednesday but the others seem to have came from the recruitment directive.
  5. IA few weeks ago there were quite a few reams below us and a couple of them looked in real trouble. Even with our dreadful form there were enough in the mix to think we could still shit fest along and be safe. Had QP not won and put us right into the deep stuff i doubt it would have happened like this. That's what happens when it comes on top and other weeks a draw would have saved him although there can be no complaints as he had enough chance to save his job this season
  6. I wonder if there is some sort of off field development role packaged with any offer. If we can't beat some of the teams in our own league then can't see how this one lands
  7. Like the ability to step up and play at right back when needed
  8. The headline on the sun website is around someone at a club being bullied rather than someone making an arse of it and getting grief
  9. The mention of abuse is corporate spin designed to deflect some of the attention away from the recent managerial record. All three appointments have ended in a sacking
  10. I guess running with this structure means the rest of the team can step up and keep things going for a bit. Unlike when a manager and team leave there is a void to be filled. Would still expect some sort of formal interim news to emerge soon about this probably involving a few existing staff
  11. Really don't see how McCall or another experienced manager fits into our collegiate set up currently unless they get a free run until the end of the season. Having other input might help McCall in stopping him building a small squad that is threadbare in the winter due to injuries. His strength was also wheeling and dealing with his pals and turning players form around. This wouldn't happen in our current set up with Glendinning finding the right 'type' of player. Whilst Bullen ultimately had a say i'm really not sure they were always his picks and would have to play the game at times. Really not sure how we fill this relatively quickly unless McGeady and one of his pals perhaps take on an interim role. Wouldn't be against seeing what the Airdrie manager could do with a bit more cash. He's still new enough to fit inside Mathies model although perhaps we should be looking for someone that will challenge the current thinking
  12. Cocaine - white! Ecto - white! Surely the post traumatic stress of the Gaza war will get him off the hook. Canโ€™t be long before we are reminded on the Westminster mpโ€™s with wrong uns in the family
  13. I would say playing against an injury ravaged team who then lose other key players during the match falls under the category of luck. Bad luck isnโ€™t selecting a striker who isnโ€™t really a goal scorer for a game where plenty of chances appear. Terrible awareness to not realise the abundance of chances occurred as the opposition were perhaps not at full strength. Heโ€™s clearly rattled and ran out of objective reasons and actions he can take to turn this around.
  14. From second top of the same division last season to second bottom with relegation a strong possibility. Can't remember seeing this sort of slide often and most other teams don't wait until a rock bottom collapse before making changes. Fans still defending this is mind blowing
  15. Gathering 1 point out of 6 against our fellow strugglers is digging your own grave. The shitfesting of the other teams has masked our dreadful form somewhat however teams now winning has removed his safety net. Had thought the odd win would have kept us afloat but the situation has changed. Smith and Mathie are quickly being pushed into a decision they really didn't want to make. Wouldn't be surprised to see some transfer activity this week to take the focus off the results. Today was there for the taking and escaping this form will be difficult until the big decisions are made
  16. Tbf he could probably get a contract at some top level Uk team quite easily, go through their academy and development teams. There is not much point staying at Ayr unless he gets game time. Championship is too high a level at the minute but he won't be far away if his form continues. Queens Park have given that kid a chance who probably has had a similar background
  17. Arbroath one of the better ones for picking up a stream this season. Plus top league off so rules might be relaxed meaning more chance of a link
  18. Ayr play better when the other team go for it and leave gaps at the back. With your injury crisis it doesn't sound like you are there. Likewise a team up for a scrap tends to end up causing us problems. Never an easy venue to visit for a number of reasons and i expect that to continue this weekend
  19. It was probably very easy to bin Kerr. Smith was new to the job, didn't appoint him and thought it would be the right thing to do and popular with the fans. Since then he has been involved in the hiring process so will have saw both sides. Finding the right person is probably quite difficult and there might not be a wad of cash during a transition type season off the pitch. Mathie has also came on board since then and may have a different view on making change. The three managers you quote also didn't have anywhere near the credit in the bank Bullen has from certain parts of last season Also bear in mind a new person may well come from that generic list of rotating shite which appears anytime a vacancy arises
  20. Goodwin used to employ stinking tactics when he first took over at Alloa. Over time he developed them up to playing some decent stuff in the end. This is the second time this season Morton have managed to stop them playing and give them something to think about. Having used a similar set up before and managed in three different leagues it sums Goodwin up not being able to set his team up to win yesterday
  21. The end of the window excuse was always around waiting for quality. In those days we had players who were established although some better than others. Currently we have a few areas with gaps where even the most basic players would help us providing they can play at this level
  22. Tbf the place before was dodgy , had been shut for years but would still randomly open and they didn't change the outside for ages. There was another old pub across the road which now does catering. I suppose if you can find the Bell Jar in a street like that then anything is possible. Will maybe take in the odd Friday night game if the timings work. Usually drink over the other side of the park but sometimes the bbc game takes a back seat if the Warriors are playing. It's a really good spot for the Hampden games as close enough but hidden away from the masses. Know a few different football people who struggle for somewhere over there and just end up drinking in the centre.
  23. Walk by there and it seems to be slowly turning into a decent boozer. When it first open it looked like a drinking den that would last until a tax bill landed and convert into a shawarma shop. Will give it a try in the warmer weather as it's got proper pavement drinking. Most of the other places down there are riddled with one half of the old firm.
  24. We are getting to the stage with this game that it might cross the directors minds that Bullen might have to leave. Still time for more
  25. Probably a sloppy lawyer not having the next persons estate processed has hit cash flow
