Mitov has plus points but he also has a fair few bad points as well. Whether that's because of the players in front of him I'm not quite sure, there must be a reason he has been playing for Cambridge and ourselves for the last few years.

He has been one of our better players this season but that's not biggest of compliments TBF.

His kicking seems to have really deteriorated over the course of the season. Maybe didn’t notice it before but he’ll have at least a couple of poor ones a game.

  2. Might just be me but we never really played 5 at the back against Dundee, it was more a four with Gallacher playing left midfield and Robinson at full back behind him. The fact Gallacher played there while Carey sat on the bench was the issue and we don’t have any right sided players so just alternated between Max and Smith doing very little on that side. I’d imagine we’ll be along the same lines today, a team of old would frustrate Hibs and hit them with a late winner. This lot don’t have it in them.

Dan Phillips is the only St Johnstone player that looks a class above. I know he has plans to go back down South/abroad but he's a player a Scottish club should be trying to tempt for next season. Class act in a competent team.

Didn’t look too hot for your winning goal, switched off and didn’t track his man. Not as good a player as he thinks he is. Accept he’d be a lot better in a proper football team though rather than whatever we are meant to be.

  4. The point about Phillips being better if he was part of a better, more coherent team is fair enough. He’s still relatively young and everything shouldn’t fall on his shoulders. However part of developing as a footballer is adapting to the circumstances you find yourself in. At best we are a basic football team that are hard to break down. We don’t offer much more than that. He could contribute to that by just keeping things simple and maintaining possession, even if that’s a five yard pass inside. Too often he over complicates things and try’s to do too much. Sometimes he’s a bit like the guy that nutmegs you at fives, shouts ole and then blasts the ball over the fence. There needs to be some kind of end product, we’ve established that won’t be goals or assists.

  5. Fair to make the point about not judging Phillips solely on goal contributions but if you compare him to the three listed there in other ways he’s not even close. Those three could take hold of a game, dictate the tempo and ensure we were always on top, I’ve never seen Phillips do that. It’s not his fault he’s in a terrible squad of players that have been poorly managed but as alluded to by somebody else the fact he’s arguably our best player says a lot.
