  1. Can we afford his salary...more likely to sign for Hibs, Hearts or even Kilmarnock..it's not so long ago he was on 8k a week..he would be a great signing but I think out of our reach.
  2. And in my opinion that's why there has not been a mad rush for season tickets.. once again the chiefs have got to get their finger out
  3. When Kelly, Doohan and Houston turned up on our doorstep, they had in total between them played 4league games(all by Houston at loan to Airdrie.. rotation is normally employed by clubs who are likely to play 50/60 games a season and to give players a rest...we will play 27 league games...the boy Ecrepont is better off at Albion and I would be surprised if there is not a clause in the deal allowing Ayr to recall him if he is required.
  4. Not surprising as his dad is the manager at Alloa..not sure we would have been interested in him anyway..he would have been another work in progress (only played 52 senior games for Clyde). Think it's a position where we need a tried and tested senior pro. However, hard they may be to find.
  5. The junior keeper being referred to will be better than the Ayr United back up and the two Rabs had no options other than bring in Juniors due to the financial state of the club at that time...the bulk of the players were on 50 quid a week and both Rabs weren't on much more..no manager before or after would have done any better than those two lads given the restrictions that were placed on them...maybe they should be commended for keeping the club alive during those desperate times.
  6. Big Jim Fleeting is an Ayr United supporter through and through.
  7. Mark Kerr will be very difficult to replace...available players ok his standard are few and far between, even though he is 36/37.
  8. Think both Campbell and Teale cost £90,000 each. Think Weir was signed before Barr started pumping money into the club so i doubt that figure of 150k.
  9. The likliehood is that he will have IN excess of a million smackeroonies sitting in his bank account may just make him think twice about any job offers from BK.
  10. You do realise you are talking absolute nonsense...ask any player at any level and they will tell you it is more difficult to play well in a team that is struggling.
  11. You obviously dont have a clue...it is more difficult to be a stick ouy in a dugshit team than it is to be s stick out in a ream doing well. Also, did it never occur to you that he takes all the free kicks because he is good at them.
  12. I live in the Philippines and dont get to see the premiership unless i go into a sports bar but i do get to see the Bundesligaon tv and the games are fast, furious end to end footbal played by technically very good teams in packed out stadiums. There are not many poor games..it is a highly entertaining product on show in that league
  13. How would you feel if you were the only player of 25 man squad (or however many) who was sitting up in the stand while the other 13 where stripped and on the bench. Probably only about 5 of those 13 had a chance of being called into action. It is a bizarre decision on Strachan's part.
  14. The " dropping" of this lad completely from the squad makes no sense at all. Fine, if Strachan decided not to play him because he felt the game required experience. But could someone please explain to me, if having made that judgement, why would you not put him on the bench as a sub. Out of the entire squad I would think Burke would be the only outfield not stripped and named as a substitute. I don't think that would help his confidence any. I may be wrong but I think there could be more to this than meets the eye.
  15. Could it be a physique issue? I'm pretty sure he is technically sound but he is a bit smallish. Of course, we all know there are exceptions that blow that suggestion to smithereens but we do know that managers prefer their players to be physically strong. Oliver Burke's rapid progression I think has been big time aided by the fact he can handle himself in the physical confrontations. He probably is not has skilled as Gauld.
  16. As an Ayr United supporter I dont give a shit who he plays for...if guys who have played at a very high level of foootball are telling us all that this boy is good then why can't we accept that and let him flourish or otherwise. My grouse is with the pathetic individuals who are quick to denounce the guy as shit, crap and similar descriptions when it is absolutely blatant to anyone who is not biased towards the Glasgow divide that he is none of these things....FFS give the lad a chance. So what if he doesn't turn out to be Messi. He won't be the only player in the world not to reach that level.
  17. To suggest he is "crap" is ludicrous. You don't get to the level he has achieved at a relatively young age by being a " shit" player. The boy is obviously talented but will he ever become an established international player remains to be seen. Let's hope he does. So many people here are far too quick to write off a player based on having seen him in a couple of games, on the telly or, indeed, because of the team he plays for.
  18. Yip ...im delighted for the boy. I hope he really shines in Leipzig. By the way guys, I meant to say 10 starts but it really doesnt matter.
  19. Im gonna make a prediction here and now....Oliver Burke will make no more than 10 appearances for Leipzig this season. He is a good player with loads of potential but Championship to Bundesliga is a giant step.
