  1. Camped at euro 96 and France 98 (who can forget the Bois de Bologne "camping") Don't fancy two weeks in a tent myself these days......but I would imagine there will be plenty of campsite space available in and around the host cities.
  2. Tierney currently has the ability to play in any top team in any of the top leagues. Unless he is a fool, he won't be taking a huge drop in salary any time soon to return to play for one of the cheeks of the Glasgow arse. That would be laughable. He might eventually do that in the future right enough...but that will be when his legs are done or he has the offer of a coaching role.
  3. It seems we are in a temporary hiatus. 50% plus support for independence ...despite abject and wretched leadership for years.......however independence support still slowly rises.... political Scotland has just not caught up yet.
  4. Between the reconstruction of Wembley, the construction of the London stadium and the building of the millenium stadium, the UK gov and the national lottery shelled out about 800 million. Mibbe ask them where the money is for our national stadium?
  5. What a midfield we have just now......top class
  6. Boy is a box2box or amc all day long. Was immense tonight.
  7. Mibbe a bit of investigation work needed re pitch drainage issues?
  8. Scottish imperialism??Is this an attempt at alternate history? The local Guna tribe in Darien welcomed the Scots, helped them fight off the Spanish, tried to feed them when their harvests failed and still remember them as allies to this day. This was not a colony in the style of the English or later the British in the Carribean. Obviously Scots did shamefully take part in slavery and colonialism. But they did so as Britons .....under the auspices of British imperialism.
  9. Well.......understood where you are coming from with regards to disgusting involvement in slave ownership.....but many Jamaicans with the surname Campbell or Mcdonald will have Scottish ancestors. Thousands of Scots were sent to the Carribean as indentured servants (slaves) in the 18thC. Mainly for political reasons...... because they continued to believe in their nations right to independence. They obviously formed family bonds with other enslaved peoples. It is a hidden not talked about episode of Scottish history.
  10. Interesting post.....but there some serious worst case assumptions being made. I don't think anyone serious would suggest there will be no short term risk of economic volatility........perhaps even akin to the short term (not longer term) impact of Brexit/covid on the UK economy. But let's also mention the likely possibility of strong economic growth post indy. All of the European nations that became independent in the 1990's experienced sharp periods of economic growth. In their case this was in spite of transitioning from planned economies to the free market. We won't have such a burdensome transition, but what we will still have is the subsequent multiplied effect of revenue raised in Scotland, being spent in Scotland, creating economic growth in Scotland and multiplying the revenue raised in Scotland. In the UK, the vast majority of such public spend is currently made in London and South East, who correspondingly receive the multiplied economic growth. Scotland (along with most other UK "regions") effectively heavily subsidises the capital and its surrounds. Legacy UK may well talk tough initially. Scotland will be one of their biggest trade partners holding leverage over vital UK requirements such as power supply and water. Will they really cut off their nose? You could even speculate that future economic growth in our South and central belt would impact areas in the North of England, act as a balance to the current domination of the SE and act as a catalyst for their economy. If as suggested a large minority of the Scottish population initially poll against independence, how does that vote split? How will that vote behave post independence? How many will be "soft no" and how many will be the "no surrender/ Britnat" types. I would suggest the former will clearly vastly outweigh the latter. Once realised the world ain't ending, I suspect they are not going to be motivated to destabilise the Scottish economy and will likely be very much pro Scotland and hostile to any such foreign attempt. This leaves a small minority in Scotland to be laughed at and pitied. Yes..independence has short term risk of some volatilty.....but compared to the inveitable impoverishment of being tied to the failing UK it is the only sensible long term course.
  11. The long-term continual decline of the UK economy. https://www.reidfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Mismanagement.pdf The UK is going to end up the very poor man of Europe. There is no sensible argument for remaining a subsidiary of Westminster.
  12. ..these are the issues that the SNP should have been concentrating on since indyref1. In spite of the snp there has still been a lot of research done on issues such as currency https://www.reservebank.scot/ for example..... that is not really that well known. The information and argument is all their. It just needs a political platform and will to be put across. That is not present at the moment. Whilst we are at it though.....I look forward to each UKgov publishing details of its plans for defence, foreign relations, pensions, economic growth, inflation, interest rates, housing etc etc for the coming decades...in detail....so we can all make sure we have the info needed to make an informed choice on independence.
  13. The 2014 independence campaign was full of activists from all parts of society. Numerous leading economists have discussed and provided opinion. The information and arguments are still present and viable.....even if the Britnat press has continued to ignore them.......conveniently for the Sturgeon led devolutionist SNP. The UK idea of managed decline and slow impoverishment in comparison to our neighbouring small Western European neighbours is just not very appealing.
  14. Just like all the other small Western European countries with nothing like Scotlands resources?
  15. It appears that those with the intellect, political skill and will to present the arguments on big policies such as on currency, tax, pensions, defence etc are just not visible in the party.....certainly not above activist level. When it comes to independence the leadership of the SNP has been a thought vacuum since the referendum.
  16. 53% support for independence!!! Clearly in spite of the SNP. Imagine where we would have been with a sensible and competent scotgov administration over the last eight and a half years. Thankfully the Indy polling would appear to show independence being a seperate and very much bigger deal than any political party (despite what SNP leadership and daft Britnats would have us believe.)
  17. None. Can't stand the bloke tbh.
  18. Erm......Maybe it's because he is an innocent person. And its very possible he was the victim of a stitch up.
  19. Happy to draw a border from Tweed to Sark when it suits the Scotland and Scots bad narrative. An even more ridiculous position when it is combined with a warped Britnat alternative history narrative.
  20. She certainly did not seem her assured normal self.....but you know what.....I find I have zero sympathy.
  21. British Nationalists of the submissionist Scot variety believing the current difficulties for the SNP equate to the people of Scotland just forgetting about independence.
  22. took some bottle for his nanny to chap the doors of hooses in Auchmuty, Tanshall and deepest darkest Methilhill......and introduce the no hoper tory walloper standing on the pavement outside the gate......lady deserved a medal.
