  1. I'm 53, overweight with two dodgy knees and even I made the bench today.
  2. Agreed. From looking at other threads of sides now in the bottom 6, the overwhelming thought is their season is over. A 6/7/8 point lead may seem insurmountable but strange things can happen post split.
  3. To be fair, it's only really Alnwick, Tanser and possibly McCarthy I'd keep, if you exclude the loan signings who are almost certainly out of our reach. I like Power but he's getting on, ditto Flynn, and Millar has hardly featured. I suspect McCarthy may have signed for someone else, given the 'heads turned' comment and his performance on Saturday. The worry is the mixed messages - a couple of weeks ago we had to win or our season would be over, now we're in a relegation battle. That patter isn't likely to be attractive to anyone he's trying to sign, if they think Championship football is a possibility.
  4. That gives me the fear, last time I saw us win at McDiarmid was 2005 I think. Always seem to lose 1-0 when I'm there. Even remember a game there maybe 12 or so years ago when we were 2-0 up, Billy Mehmet was brought down for a blatant penalty which wasn't given and we ended up drawing 2-2 to a late penalty after one of our players handled on the line. Scottish Labour have a better record in Perth than us.
  5. To be fair, Killie look poor as well, but in a two legged play off there's always a risk Lafferty plays a couple of stormers.
  6. Agreed. We have gone from "this is a good squad, we just need to keep doing what we're doing" to "players heads have been turned, we just need to get to the end of the season so I can get my own players in" in little over a month. Even an incompetent manager (and i don't believe Robinson is) needed to do not very much to keep us on track for top 6 with the squad we have. I think he has tried to "put his stamp" on the team, but in doing so has told some players to leave yet will still expect them to put a shift in when they know they are not in long term plans - a sure way to demotivate. Only consolation is we still have a cushion on St J and even if the worst comes to the worst, this seasons championship play off contenders look especially shit.
  7. Even in the run of 11 winless games before Christmas, when we were playing a formation that clearly didn't work, we still drew 6 of them. The football might not have been pretty but we at least looked organised at the back. It's the same players, only change is the manager - though agree they are all experienced players who should have done much better today, regardless of the fact there clearly has been zero work done in training on defensive structure. As for Lyness, he has performed well at times when coming into the side, but I think today showed why he has been a lower league journeyman who often has struggled to be first choice at all his clubs. Definitely need a new goalie of the calibre of a Hladky or Alnwick.
  8. However, Robinson is the guy who should be making us hard to break down - some of the goals we lost both today and in the cup game v Hearts were schoolboy defending and would never have happened under Goodwin. Morecambe fans had the same criticism of Robinson - quite attacking but an open style of play that leaves his teams at high risk of being caught short at the back and losing goals on the counter. All four goals today weren't really individual errors (though Lyness should have saved the first) but were down to lack of organisation and defensive shape.
  9. Planning to go to this with my son on the train in a probably futile attempt to get him back interested in the footie. Is Airbles the nearest station and how far is that to the ground? And are there any family friendly pubs near the ground that sell food? TIA.
  10. Apparently they aren't happy about Rangers playing Celtic in a friendly in Australia. No idea why.
  11. My observations so far on Robinson is he's always trying to change things. That can be a good thing at times, but it's not something this group are used to. Jim had one approach, whether it be 3-5-2 or 4-2-3-1, and he usually stuck with it - lack of a plan b was a common criticism. Robinson has a different approach and his ability to be responsive can be a positive, but we have a group of players not used to changing things in game so much, which explained the disorganised shambles of yesterday's second half. He also presents as a more abrasive character than Ross, Goodwin or Kearney, and I would hazard a guess there's been more harsh words said over the last few weeks than there had been all season. Again, not sure our group of players are used to that approach. I do expect there will be a lot of change in the summer and the time to judge will be next season, though I am slightly concerned that some of our better players who are used to a more positive style of man management may decide to leave if the change in approach isn't to their liking.
  12. To be fair it would take a collapse bigger than Hibs under Butcher to get caught from a position of 12 points ahead with 8 games to go.
  13. This will be a tough game, United will be fresh after a lot of their players took a rest during the cup game last night.
  14. Erm, no. We are now a bigger more successful club than you so only sign your best players like Brophy and Kiltie.
  15. I remember not long ago you loaned us Callum Waters. Ooft, how times have changed. Just out of interest, how are Lee Hodson and Steven McGinn doing for you guys?
  16. I'm a st mirren fan, by lower league do you mean conference league? We'll wave to you from the plane.
  17. I don't mean to burst your bubble, but you were time wasting when 3-1 up against 10 men. I think you probably will go up, but deary me that side will need almost entirely replaced next season to give you a chance of even being competitive.
  18. Glass houses and throwing stones I believe, given County are still playing week in, week out someone facing serious domestic abuse charges. Even Man Utd had the decency to suspend Greenwood as soon as he was accused of similar behaviour.
  19. The only time Main has in his career even resembled a footballer has been under Robinson at Motherwell. My fear is that Robinson will think he can repeat this feat, which I seriously doubt is possible. There were so many things wrong with yesterday. Playing three centre half's when County only play one very ineffective centre forward? Meant our spare players were at the back when we really needed an extra body in central midfield. Imagine losing a midfield battle to a side with Callaghan, Tillson and that loathsome p***k Paton in there? Also not sure what Marcus Fraser has done to be dropped - he's generally a good, solid performer for us. With Ronan back in midweek, hopefully get back to 4-2-3-1. If we play some bizarre formation and selection against a covid hit side at the bottom of the league, then we'd be as well writing off the season.
  20. Shit game so far. Charles Cook and Hungbo at half time saying that Harry Paton is the worst in the squad for mood swings - I wonder if they'll be witnesses for the prosecution in his forthcoming court case?
  21. Agreed, all diddy team fans in the battle for top 6 and Europe still think that is funny as feck. Draw probably the best result.
  22. I doubt that elvis. Gordon is a good goalkeeper, so can't see him losing 4 goals, and Hearts do carry a goal threat, so can see them scoring. 3-1 Saints would be more realistic.
  23. He can't play, has concussion after brushing against Charles Dunne's pinky last weekend.
