  1. This sale feels like as good a time as any to take leave of St Johnstone and to start following Jeanfield. I'd be disappointed if they signed Cammy MacPherson never mind Saints. Perma crock passenger.
  2. I think we have to play Clark so one of Sidibeh and Kimpioka will be on the bench. I would've said Kimpioka was better until Saturday, the first time - outside of the odd flash - that Sidibeh has looked up to the task for me. Certainly think he's earned the right to start the next game.
  3. Like we'd get planning for a bungalow at the Oudenarde. My view on the manager/situation hasn't really changed tbh. We know what he is and what his remit is. It's been pretty awful to watch (Saturday was slightly better) and the points have dried up so think it's only natural people start to question why he's still there. Regardless of what league we're in, next season already looks like a bit of a slog. It's pretty clear there's a big clear out coming and the manager - whether it's Levein, Kirk or someone else - has a huge job on his hands. Then there's the ownership situation. Hopefully it's resolved before the season ends as it's pretty clear that's a big reason the club is circling the drain. It's actually painful how lethargic and laboured everything is, both on and off the pitch. Feel like the new media guys are trying to put out good interviews etc, probably the one aspect of the club that is moving forward right now, and they can only piss with the cock they've got, but an interview with marks that I don't really like as footballers and will be away in the summer is just of no interest to me.
  4. Let's just stop beating about the bush and bring King Thomas home.
  5. Id want Dundee to stay/go up. No offence meant by this, but there's a much higher chance that Dundee would be in the shit the following season than Aberdeen and the smaller clubs in the league should be looking for as many potential buffers as possible. If we do stay up this season as an example, there won't be many teams you can look at and think they'll definitely be down there next season. Killie are flying and have a good manager, can't see St Mirren or Dundee collapsing (which I appreciate flies in the face of what I said above) to that extent, no Livi (most likely), potentially no County and no doubt United would spend if they came up. You're left with Motherwell and whoever wins the play offs, and Motherwell have been permanent fixture in the top flight for as long as I remember. Not easy, unless our new owner decides to throw money about like there's no tomorrow.
  6. Can really feel the Derby fever in this thread, Dundee fans clearly buzzing for their big day out in Perth.
  7. Probably not doing anything to help the Perth yokel reputation, but that's right on my playlist. What a tune
  8. Not remotely arsed about Dan Phillips leaving to be honest. He's ok and suspect we'll miss him on the park, but I think that's a reflection of just how poor we now are rather than how impactful he's been. He wouldn't have gotten into the squad of the 2014 cup winning team, and probably not ahead of the dads army midfield in the double winning squad either. He's one of our best and quite evidently a bottom 6 player, sums it up quite nicely.
  9. Huge game for both sides, Saints because yesterdays results have put us right back in the shit and it's the big Derby match for Dundee. As with all derbies, I expect this will be blood guts and thunder. Have to suspect Dundee will be well up for this with their manager talking up the importance of this Derby. Derby.
  10. Take the point and run, especially with Aberdeen and County getting beat. Get to the end of match day 38 in 10th or above and that'll do. I've never seen a more cynical performance than that at mcdiarmid park. Even peak Accies and Minsk would only watch in awe at some of the antics there today. Don't get me wrong, I respect the hussle and understand that points are much more important than any thought to entertain right now. Just glad we managed to eek out a chance and Clark put it away. Must've been 21 minutes of added time between the two halves so probably the longest football match I've attended that didn't involve extra time too.
  11. I'm just dropping truth bombs. Our time in the sun is clearly over now and has been replaced by a period of utter incompetence. It's only right Derby rivals will come and put the boot in now the bubble has burst.
  12. Entirely true though. Especially for Dundee supporters who can't remember the league win 50 years ago. Finishing 6th and not putting the club at risk to get there is progress all the same.
  13. If anyone is qualified to judge failure it's a Dundee supporter. Cleland wasn't the answer in the same way Maclean wasn't the answer. We needed a fresh start (IMO the fresh eyes have got us up to 10th from what was essentially a doomed position). Definitely an argument, one that gets more compelling after every game just now, that Levein wasn't the right man but we are where we are. Just swallow your pride St Johnstone and get King Thomas on a plane on Monday.
  14. Other than Mitov,There just isn't really anything to hang your hat on with the team. Defence is slow and can be got at, no width, the strikers don't look up to it, midfield is supposedly a strength but we've regularly lost the battle in there recently. Effort and determination isn't there either. Completely scunnered with Saints just now, there's just nothing and hasn't been really since the European nights after the double. Sooner summer comes and we can try and start again (hopefully with a new owner and fresh investment) the better.
  15. Awful. There's just nothing positive to take from that at all. Why would we loan out Kane when the other options are what they are? Can't get my head around that at all, at least he's a different kind of option and gets us up the pitch.
  16. See they've already put some interviews up on Saints TV with them behind a subscription wall again. Felt like that ceased a couple of years ago? insanely good captures for us on paper. Both big saints fans and very experienced in the media, they'll know the kind of output the supporters want to see and hope they have free reign to go and just do it. I'd guess they were targeted. Great decision by whoever made that call, if indeed that's what happened.
  17. We had a deal lined up for Cleary in the August but Davidson in his infinite wisdom didn't want a bloated squad so let it drop. We of course then lost Kerr on deadline day and signed a decrepit Efe Ambrose after the window closed instead.
  18. That wage bill is utterly ludicrous, especially when you see the players, coaches and staff up the stairs it helped pay for (not all of them obviously).
  19. Dundee have had more administrations than major trophies in the last 50 years. They have however formed the Deeagles so there is that.
  20. The previous manager was 0.4 points a game though, getting this group up to a 1 point a game (which would've been significantly better than that before the last 3 games) is a good achievement when for most of that time he's been lumbered with exactly the same squad as his predecessor. I think I could be the problem here frankly, I'm happy with us getting points on the board and staying up and I'm giving Levein the benefit of the doubt this season because of how hamstrung he currently is. Do I think things will improve on the pitch next season? Not sure, possibly not, but think he deserves the chance to try and put a squad together if he does keep us up. If we go down having watched this since October or whenever it was he came in, I'll be much less forgiving. I'll be first on the Levein out bus if the football served up next season is like this again too as I'm absolutely sick of this after 3 years of negative football.
  21. Don't disagree, only thing I'd say is context. Davidson walked into a vibrant young team (which he initially supplemented well) on decent length contracts and he played that kind of football for most of the two and a half years he was the manager of the club before he was eventually sacked. It was a conscious choice made by Callum Davidson, despite having a huge budget and unprecedented support and control at the club, that's why I find the latter part of his tenure so unforgivable. He forged the 'we're just happy to be here' attitude that the 4 previous managers didn't accept and that we're having to live with now IMO. I still feel he got a year too long and the malaise he allowed to set in at the club will be extremely difficult to shift (it's why I'm very open to the idea of just letting all the players out of contract in 2024 go, give us the chance of a fresh start) Levein has walked into a complete shit show and inherited a terrible squad and he's having to just get points to try and keep us in the league. He's not had much of a budget to try and pull us up either. I'm not saying I've agreed with all of his decisions and there's been times I've felt our performance levels haven't been acceptable, subs baffling, and his obsession with trying to make Max Kucheriavyi happen is wearing thin too, but I don't think we've really got any choice but to back the guy who took us from rooted at the bottom to 5 points clear of 11th in the span of 15 league games. Whether he's still here in 18 months is another thing all together.
  22. He's out of contract in the summer. Think that's the best he's played deeper but he's been very decent further up the pitch this season. One of very few who's worth another year in the top flight next year IMO, whether with us or someone else.
