  1. Huge game for both sides, Saints because yesterdays results have put us right back in the shit and it's the big Derby match for Dundee. As with all derbies, I expect this will be blood guts and thunder. Have to suspect Dundee will be well up for this with their manager talking up the importance of this Derby. Derby.
  2. Take the point and run, especially with Aberdeen and County getting beat. Get to the end of match day 38 in 10th or above and that'll do. I've never seen a more cynical performance than that at mcdiarmid park. Even peak Accies and Minsk would only watch in awe at some of the antics there today. Don't get me wrong, I respect the hussle and understand that points are much more important than any thought to entertain right now. Just glad we managed to eek out a chance and Clark put it away. Must've been 21 minutes of added time between the two halves so probably the longest football match I've attended that didn't involve extra time too.
  3. I'm just dropping truth bombs. Our time in the sun is clearly over now and has been replaced by a period of utter incompetence. It's only right Derby rivals will come and put the boot in now the bubble has burst.
  4. Entirely true though. Especially for Dundee supporters who can't remember the league win 50 years ago. Finishing 6th and not putting the club at risk to get there is progress all the same.
  5. If anyone is qualified to judge failure it's a Dundee supporter. Cleland wasn't the answer in the same way Maclean wasn't the answer. We needed a fresh start (IMO the fresh eyes have got us up to 10th from what was essentially a doomed position). Definitely an argument, one that gets more compelling after every game just now, that Levein wasn't the right man but we are where we are. Just swallow your pride St Johnstone and get King Thomas on a plane on Monday.
  6. Other than Mitov,There just isn't really anything to hang your hat on with the team. Defence is slow and can be got at, no width, the strikers don't look up to it, midfield is supposedly a strength but we've regularly lost the battle in there recently. Effort and determination isn't there either. Completely scunnered with Saints just now, there's just nothing and hasn't been really since the European nights after the double. Sooner summer comes and we can try and start again (hopefully with a new owner and fresh investment) the better.
  7. Awful. There's just nothing positive to take from that at all. Why would we loan out Kane when the other options are what they are? Can't get my head around that at all, at least he's a different kind of option and gets us up the pitch.
  8. See they've already put some interviews up on Saints TV with them behind a subscription wall again. Felt like that ceased a couple of years ago? insanely good captures for us on paper. Both big saints fans and very experienced in the media, they'll know the kind of output the supporters want to see and hope they have free reign to go and just do it. I'd guess they were targeted. Great decision by whoever made that call, if indeed that's what happened.
  9. We had a deal lined up for Cleary in the August but Davidson in his infinite wisdom didn't want a bloated squad so let it drop. We of course then lost Kerr on deadline day and signed a decrepit Efe Ambrose after the window closed instead.
  10. That wage bill is utterly ludicrous, especially when you see the players, coaches and staff up the stairs it helped pay for (not all of them obviously).
  11. Dundee have had more administrations than major trophies in the last 50 years. They have however formed the Deeagles so there is that.
  12. The previous manager was 0.4 points a game though, getting this group up to a 1 point a game (which would've been significantly better than that before the last 3 games) is a good achievement when for most of that time he's been lumbered with exactly the same squad as his predecessor. I think I could be the problem here frankly, I'm happy with us getting points on the board and staying up and I'm giving Levein the benefit of the doubt this season because of how hamstrung he currently is. Do I think things will improve on the pitch next season? Not sure, possibly not, but think he deserves the chance to try and put a squad together if he does keep us up. If we go down having watched this since October or whenever it was he came in, I'll be much less forgiving. I'll be first on the Levein out bus if the football served up next season is like this again too as I'm absolutely sick of this after 3 years of negative football.
  13. Don't disagree, only thing I'd say is context. Davidson walked into a vibrant young team (which he initially supplemented well) on decent length contracts and he played that kind of football for most of the two and a half years he was the manager of the club before he was eventually sacked. It was a conscious choice made by Callum Davidson, despite having a huge budget and unprecedented support and control at the club, that's why I find the latter part of his tenure so unforgivable. He forged the 'we're just happy to be here' attitude that the 4 previous managers didn't accept and that we're having to live with now IMO. I still feel he got a year too long and the malaise he allowed to set in at the club will be extremely difficult to shift (it's why I'm very open to the idea of just letting all the players out of contract in 2024 go, give us the chance of a fresh start) Levein has walked into a complete shit show and inherited a terrible squad and he's having to just get points to try and keep us in the league. He's not had much of a budget to try and pull us up either. I'm not saying I've agreed with all of his decisions and there's been times I've felt our performance levels haven't been acceptable, subs baffling, and his obsession with trying to make Max Kucheriavyi happen is wearing thin too, but I don't think we've really got any choice but to back the guy who took us from rooted at the bottom to 5 points clear of 11th in the span of 15 league games. Whether he's still here in 18 months is another thing all together.
  14. He's out of contract in the summer. Think that's the best he's played deeper but he's been very decent further up the pitch this season. One of very few who's worth another year in the top flight next year IMO, whether with us or someone else.
  15. Agree with Paulo re Connor Smith. He and Kucheriavyi are just nothing footballers, they've come in and replaced older nothing footballers who will have been on more money probably, but still, hardly a ringing endorsement for them. Adama Sidibeh looked every bit a player we're signed from Warrington Rylands or whatever they're called today too. He and Kimpioka just don't look up for a battle. Fear we're going to regret loaning out Kane to be honest. Still of the view that staying up by any means necessary is the measure of success this season given the state we're in. Given how shit we've been to watch for years now and VAR (plus rangers and Celtic games with them having 3 stands again) a season ticket is going to be a hard sell for me in the summer. Honestly fed up of watching soul destroying 'must not lose at all costs' football.
  16. Perfect example of what happens when you play to a players strengths. Fact he's tall doesn't mean he's a target man and that's all Davidson saw, someone to launch balls at and hope he could bring others into play. He's clearly a very good runner good at stretching defences and causing a bit of mayhem. He still had elements of competition winner a few weeks ago at McDiarmid but his strengths (which we never once even attempted to play to) are there for all to see now. I'm delighted for him. Deserves all the credit in the world for keeping on going despite being written off and laughed at in some quarters. f**k the haters.
  17. I'd have punted Jaiysimi at the end of January and kept Kane personally. I find the former an unlikable football player who doesn't add an awful lot, the latter at least offers us a different option even if he isn't the player he was. Disappointing he's away but clear Levein doesn't fancy him.
  18. just looking at the out of contract list. Goalkeepers Dave Richards (loan expires) Jack Wills Defenders/wing backs James Brown Ryan McGowan Liam Gordon Kerr Smith (loan expires) Andy Considine Liam Parker Callum Booth Luke Robinson (loan expires) Tony Gallacher Midfielders/wingers Drey Wright Fran Franczak (maybe) Diallang Jaiyesimi (loan expires) Daniel Phillips Cammy McPherson Ali Crawford Cammy Ballantyne Graham Carey Attackers Chris Kane Taylor Steven I think Gordon, McGowan, Considine, Carey and Phillips are really the only ones who can claim they deserve new contract offers from this list. Drey Wright maybe based on last season, but out of 4 years he's been with us over 2 spells essentially missed about half of it through injury. I'd be looking to offer reduced terms for all of them except Phillips to be honest, no doubt Gordon is on a fortune and the others we shouldn't be looking at them being first choice players next year if they are retained. Franczak speaks for himself, I hope he's already fixed up with longer but I don't see any evidence of this online so have included him too. The rest? Get the trebauchet. Some can leave with thanks, some can maybe feel they've either not had a chance or been a bit unlucky, the rest can just f**k off, frankly.
  19. Get out of the season in the top flight and big rebuild needed in the summer, again. I'd almost be tempted to go nuclear and just release all the players who are out of contract and give the management team as much freedom in the budget as we can. There's 2 or 3 out of contract in 2024 who perhaps deserve new deals but honestly, quicker we see the back of most of these players the better.
  20. Quite buzzing for this game to be in the past so this hellscape of a thread can be forgotten about and we can all move on
  21. Has Kane played af all since he extended his contract until the summer? What a waste of time that is, unless we've got some kind of clause to trigger an extension in his contract if he shows up well out on loan. Not sure I can add much about him beyond what's been said. He's the master of winning fouls and taking pressure off a defence.
  22. Maybe a multi team forum isn't for you then. Thank you.
  23. No. Keep pushing me and I'll follow you around the forum calling you Borespud.
