  1. Watched this last night ( Interstellar ) and have to say I was pretty disappointed with it.... I think a lot of it felt forced and the story didn't run very smoothly - I wouldn't recommend it - 5/10 It's probably been mentioned earlier in this big thread but I wen't to see Judge about a week or two ago - conversely - I wasn't that excited by the prospect but it was actually very good..... 8/10
  2. Thanks very much weirdcal We'll give it a go...
  3. Does anybody know how to download / save texts from a nokia lumia 920 onto another medium ( ie a pc or something ) ? ( and without just forwarding each text one at a time to another phone ) ? I am asking on behalf of my brother.... The problem is his phone is pretty much fubar and there are threads of texts he needs to save.... Both Nokia and Microsoft have said no can do ( blaming each other ) but it's hard to imagine in this day and age that they can't be saved ? Any ideas greatly appreciated...
  4. If I knew it was the famous Mozzamozza - I would have asked for an autograph Anyway, it couldn't have been.... the real Mozzamozza is 10 feet tall surely ?
  5. Yep, withdrawn in 1945... http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/Pages/denom_guide/nonflash/500.aspx
  6. Good Question placidcasual It might in fact have been a lot of the names above.... But judging by the amount of screaming wee french lassies I ( perhaps wrongly ) assumed it was a boyband....
  7. Most "pop" stars / musicians. Case in point being I was in Paris CDG Airport last year and there was a load of people waiting for some ( I assume ) boy band to arrive.... They did arrive ( with a wee bluff - a limo turned up at one entrance where a load of screaming fans ran towards and then the band sneaked in at the other entrance ) they all walked right past me and I never had a clue who any of them were....
  8. Was never a great fan of Eldorado - Buckfast was always the preferred tipple through in Alloa - ( where we have a higher class of jakey obviously ) The one that truly sickened me when I was a lad was Martini - even now I couldn't look at a bottle of that stuff...
  9. It's a very funny thing - memory and everybody is different I suppose.... Me - I can remember things such as places that I visited years ago in great detail and I never forget a face but as for names - as soon as someone tells me their name, I instantly forget ( which is a bit embarrassing ) - it doesn't matter if I even make a conscious " extra effort " to remember someones name - two minutes later, it's gone.... WTF is that all about ? When I was a wee boy, I lived overseas - the nature of my fathers work was like a year here. 18 months there etc etc so probably because of that, my memories are pretty well compartmentalised which I'm sure helps.... As far as memory goes ( without trying to steer this topic elsewhere ) I was very close to my gran, who had Alzheimer disease ( progressively worsening over 20 years till she was back in an almost baby state ) - she ended up in a nursing home and when I went to see her ( which was often ) you could see that sometimes she knew you, sometimes she didn't - and when I say she knew you, she never knew my name ( for example ) just that " she knew me ".... Which is a strange thing.... Then about 5 years ago, I was involved in an accident, when I came to - there was an ambulance guy giving me oxygen and my brother and girlfriend were sitting beside me watching me - for ( what must have been ) a split second, I " knew their faces " but didn't know who they were - it was a weird feeling and one that I'll never forget - I often think that's how my gran must have seen the world....... Anyway, I ramble on, what were we talking about again ?
  10. As for dogs...... I used to work Airport security ( X-RAY ) so used to chat to a lot of the security guys / managers at various airports - As far as dogs go, I was told that they are better at detecting drugs than the chemical analysis systems you see ( the kind of thing they swab your laptop with before sticking it in a clever wee machine ) the problem with the dogs though is that they don't / can't concentrate for long enough - that's why they only have them on patrol for 20 mins a time.....
  11. Since we're on the subject..... 4x4 Drivers who crawl at 2mph over speed bumbs...... You're driving a fking landrover - surely it can handle a speed bump ? I drive a company car ( so maybe it's fair to say I don't give a sh1t about driving over them ) but got caught behind a 4x4 driver today going up a long road full of them.... took ages !!!
  12. Automated phone systems..... I had to phone the tax office the other day and it took 12.5 minutes of talking to an automated system before I got to speak to a human being - by which time of course I was fking raging I hate the whole idea of those things ( automated answering systems ) and I had used the " house phone " as it's an 0845 number - which meant I had to listen with the phone to my ear all the time as I didn't know when someone would answer..... ( and lI had to listen to the insincere " we are sorry to keep you waiting " messages every two minutes ) To make matters worse - it was a demand for £73 which I offered / wanted to pay there and then but was told I need to send a cheque ! ( I do have a cheque book but it's a long story ) I mean who the fk has a cheque book in this day and age ( except me ) I did suggest that instead of spending my hard earned tax ( which I'm sure I don't even owe ) on a fancy phone system they could perhaps modernise their fking payment system as after all, that is the very reason they exist - the lassie said she would pass on my helpful ideas
  13. http://www.lse.co.uk/share-regulatory-news.asp?shareprice=RFC&ArticleCode=7g61sdvj&ArticleHeadline=Business_Review_and_Strategic_Plan_Update That is a disaster of and RNS and it SHOULD tank - the more I read it the worse it seems - always be wary of stockmarket news coming out on a Friday... It's hard to believe the II's didn't know about all this already though and with football clubs having a different set of shareholders to normal companies ( ie. fans ) there might not be a mass sell off on Monday - I expect it will be shaky first thing but might recover a bit as the day goes on - but the trend now will be down until funding is sorted out - As for " These investors will have set up a standing instruction to sell at a certain point, when is bail out time ? You can set a stop loss figure on shares ( ie automatically sell at a certain price ) but I doubt any RFC shareholders will have stop losses - Stop losses are often set to protect profits - no one is in profit at RFC and I doubt anybody who bought in at 80 odd pence would have set a stop loss so low as 22p - anybody holding from there needs an almost 400 % rise just to break even
  14. LOL - Sorry bud Never gave anything away though as that's the story right from the start.....
  15. Just watched the Grand Budapest Hotel..... Not bad... 6.5 / 10 Good cast - lots of wee cameo rolls so there are always faces you know popping up through the film. Story is about a concierge and a lobby boy he takes under his wing ( who goes on to own the hotel ) Quite funny in bits and quite an unusual story - worth a watch IMO After reading the reviews of posters here, I'm glad I didn't go and see Noah - which I was going to do but it was half way through a screening when I arrived and I didn't want to wait for the next one....
  16. Years ago - I worked in Tesco for a few months, stacking the shelves at night - A lot ( most ) of the fruit that comes in is put in the fridge for a while and that can't be good for it... It's rock hard on the shelves then rotten a day or two later.... Bananas were particularly bad for this - they would come in Green and within 24 hours they were starting to rot so you're doing well if they're still green 5 days later....
  17. Yes, something like that..... I'm just glad someone else has heard of it as well
  18. I know it sounds crazy but it seems to work..... Get an empty plastic bottle and take the label off it ( like a 2 litre Irn bru bottle for example ) and half fill it with water and just leave it in the garden.... An old neighbor of mine used to do that ( to keep away cats ) Cat psychology is not my forte so I can't explain why ( or if ) it works but you could always give it a go Ginger ale has a crisper taste and is usually lighter in colour..... Ginger beer is normally cloudier and darker in colour
  19. I might actually buy a copy of the Daily Record tomorrow
  20. Yes - Edinburgh is even worse imo.... Sat Navs can't keep up with the constant road changes either..... Anyway - as for the family feud question - there is no doubt the O/P's maw should pay - his brother should go at least halfs ( financial circumstances depending of course ) - If he is your wee brother - it might be worth giving him a slap as well.....
  21. jamama - If I was you I'd be off to A+E quick sharp - ie now before the Saturday night rush when A+E will look like a battle field... If there is no external bruising then it doesn't sound like you have whacked it / broken a rib to me ? ( I am not a Dr btw ).... Get yourself X-Rayed mate....
  22. Good luck with the ombudsman but they are pretty useless ( so I hear ) so you might just have to pay it yourself in the end.... Report it to Capital one as well as fraud and you might be OK.... I have had my cards used before fraudulently and I've never had to pay the amounts that were spent..... Good Luck
