  1. The 99% confidence rate of the Rovers fans, in a fair universe, would usually ensure they'll end up disappointed. I can't bring myself to believe it though.
  2. My Mrs has just bought a new car, and despite managing to park the old car in the driveway without issue for years, she was suddenly worried she'd crash into the fence by the pavement. The new car is 6 inches longer and slightly narrower than the old one. She made me chop a metre off the fence
  3. I usually cant be here in person to accept deliveries, which wasn't an issue when the supplier had their own fleet as they're in the industry and you could trust it'd be well packaged and transported. In this box the 18kg gas cylinder was sitting on top of coils of soft copper tube ffs Utter morons everywhere.
  4. An interesting idea, although if this shambles of a package that turned up at 5pm is the standard to beat, I'm not sure I have it in me. Is it just me who thinks there's a general crisis of competence in just about every walk of life these days?
  5. The free market offers one or two more expensive, further away, and less well-stocked alternatives. I'm sure my strongly-worded email will sort this mob out.
  6. The main supplier who I get the majority of my materials & equipment from for work was recently taken over and the service has turned to shit. Funny thing is, the competition watchdog wasn't happy with the original takeover and made them sell off part of the business to someone else first, as they thought customer service would suffer otherwise. A year ago they offered next day delivery and had their own delivery fleet. Now they use couriers and you're lucky if you get it by Friday if ordered on Monday. This week I was promised Wednesday which didn't turn up, then on Thursday was told it's 2 hours away but didn't turn up, then today it'll be here before 11 but didn't turn up. Had to cancel the job today, my customer seething, and to top it all off if the delivery miraculously appears this afternoon I'll be working the weekend.
  7. After 30 years of playing 5s on hard surfaces at least once a week, the noise my joints make when I get up the next morning sounds like I'm walking on bubble wrap.
  8. We've just bought a new (used) car, and for the first time ever our current insurers were the cheapest quote. Switching cars put the premium up from £260 to £370, with all the confused dot meerkats etc giving us around £460. Another unexpected bonus was that because the car has just passed 5 years old, the £570 annual tax we were expecting turned out to be £180. Chuffed with that.
  9. No mention of the nineteen hole-in-ones in a row to snatch victory?
  10. This is some company to be keeping. Minter for the Knights Templar.
  11. That does sound like a cumulative thing if a different thing causes it to trip when plugged back in in a different order. It should be reasonably straightforward to diagnose, and if you're lucky like me could just be a dodgy main switch.
  12. Nuisance tripping of RCDs can be a bit random and annoying to diagnose. I went through it myself recently after fitting an aircon unit in my kitchen and taking it off the socket circuit. RCDs have a built-in tolerance for current leakage to earth. Every appliance and circuit will have a normal tiny amount of leakage, and if the cumulative total from all the circuits powered via the RCD main switch exceeds it it will trip. An electrician can check this out pretty quickly (I'm not a sparky but come across this sort of thing when working with them). In my case, it turned out the main switch was oversensitive and tripping below its tolerance. Replaced the switch and all good. Not sure about the resetting after half a day thing. Is anything on a timer, or do you have solar panels?
  13. When you say the fuse for downstairs, is this an RCD main switch which powers a row of breakers for multiple downstairs circuits (one of which is the sockets)? It may be as simple as an earth wire not fully sheathed behind a socket cover, especially if it's an older property with metal boxes.
  14. Are the goals smaller in internationals?
  15. Good hit but really strange looking dive from Gunn, he didn't even get off the ground.
  16. I'm hearing FIFA are helicoptering in the Ballon d'Or to give to Scott McTominay at half time.
  17. I'd suggest that "they made it all up" is a much simpler and more likely explanation than the big balloon being compromised by a foreign adversary.
  18. Even if we accept that those prices are not a great surprise given the place is about 50 yards away from the Old Course clubhouse, maybe more shocking was that after having a drink in another couple of establishments in the town centre, our round (pint + wine) was within £1.50 of that each time. Overall for our afternoon out, we would've spent about the same if we'd got off the bus in St Andrews and immediately got a £40 taxi to Spoons in Dundee for the same drinks.
  19. Aye, I highlighted that as it's what i had and was particularly seething about. Outrageous across the board.
  20. This guy has been 'exposing the truth' about flight MH370 for a few months now and it keeps popping up on twitter. Apparently the plane was teleported mid-flight using secret US and possibly extra-terrestrial technology, and taken to the Diego Garcia spy base in the Indian ocean. The videos used to back up this theory could have been made anywhere, but the story goes the whistleblower who released them has been jailed for 9 years for espionage. Not sure if this part is true. I once got on a plane in Berlin after a stag do and immediately woke up just as we were landing in Glasgow. I reckon the same technology was used.
