  1. I actually recently googled the two stadiums' architects after thinking the same thing.
  2. I have read the first 6 or 7 pages of this topic and may read the rest later. It's not a subject I've spent much time on, so I don't claim to be an expert. Firstly the topic poll - weed, I wouldn't actively campaign to legalise it but I wouldn't be up in arms if it did get legalised either. It's not obviously harmful, but I have no doubt that prolonged use has a lasting effect on people. The debate about the legalisation of all drugs raises a few issues with me. For the record, I agree the "war on drugs" isn't working and needs dramatically overhauled. While I don't think people should be imprisoned for consuming drugs in most cases, I do think it should be illegal. Consuming a product creates the market for it so it's the consumer which perpetuates the entire drug trade. This line has been repeated throughout the thread. Nobody is being forced to take drugs? I've never felt under any pressure from the government to take drugs. I quite easily could if I wanted to but I choose not to, as taking a mind-altering and/or addictive substance could only have a negative effect on my abilities to function as a normal human being in day-to-day life. The rocketing usage figures for cocaine and other drugs over the past few decades is usually used to show how prohibition doesn't work but there are other factors which go some way to explain this too. It's a feature of the West's global capitalist economies that poorer countries can produce the drugs so cheaply, and the more the economic gap widens the cheaper the product will be. The average man on the street has much more disposable income than he did 30 years ago too. I'd need to know more about the government facility idea to comment further on it. If you could legally consume drugs in here, would it still be illegal to buy and consume outside of such a facility? If so then it doesn't sound any different to current prescription drug laws? It also seems to me that the market would still be flooded with illegal suppliers undercutting the state.
  3. I quite like it, it's certainly different and will make a spectacular World Cup venue.
  4. I usually prefer the more traditional stadiums and find alot of the new ones quite generic in appearance, not to mention the often inferior atmosphere. Some of the stadiums built for the World Cup in Brazil are a bit plain, even the new Maracana I think was a missed opportunity to build something spectacular and as iconic as the original. One of the new stadiums I do like the look of and which also has a great atmosphere, is the Donbass Arena at Shakhtar Donetsk. spec I also like the way old stadiums are usually plonked right in the middle of a city, it looks so much better than when new grounds are built on the outskirts like a new branch of Morrisons. Some of the South American cities in particular have grand old stadiums in quite spectacular city settings, like this one in Bolivia, home of The Strongest.
  5. Just read this classic comment on a picture being shared of the severe weather and flooding down south - the smaller our nation becomes due to erosion the less foreigners we can take in
  6. Reminds me of another annoyance - going anywhere in Enger-lund, going to pay for something with a Scottish bank note and it being scrutinised as if it was some kind of obscure Pacific Island currency they'd never seen before.
  7. Had a look at a friend's video to see what they were all about, it's truly cringeworthy stuff. "Most-liked posts"?
  8. These videos have accounted for about two thirds of everything on my newsfeed since I got in from work. The other third mainly consists of people moaning about all the videos.
  9. I really wish I could believe that isn't real but sadly I'm sure it is. Possibly a new low for the human race when someone eats their own excrement for facebook likes.
  10. The only flaw in that master plan is that it's fraudulent and illegal to intentionally cause an accident for the purposes of financial gain by insurance. You'd better hope no-one witnesses you allow yourself to be run over.
  11. I've always thought they probably had something to do with it, or at least knew what had happened and attempted to cover it up. I doubt they were directly involved in the act of murder though. Did Rudy Guede ever give his version of events? I don't remember much about his trial at the time.
  12. I'd struggle to keep a certain scene from Basic Instinct out of my mind while doing the deed.
  13. I have a few gym nut types on mine who like to keep everyone updated about their current physical condition. Helpful statuses like 'leg day today lol' and 'i'll be feeling that tomorrow lmao' mean I need not waste my time by phoning them to ask the specifics of their fitness regime.
  14. They are lazy, arrogant wee bassas without a doubt. But they walk themselves and bury their own shit, which elevates them above dogs IMO. And your house doesn't reek of cat with a cat.
  15. This isn't so bad, though generally I agree with ClathyDave above in that checking in anywhere is a bit sad The worst ones for me are people checking in at 'trendy' bars to appear as some kind of popular socialite, which is a close second only to people checking in at airports to remind everyone of their exciting jet-setter lifestyle.
  16. I believe it's some kind of Dundonian cave-dweller talk for, that is definitely what guys from around this place do.
  17. A thread about a foxy lass without a pic? Outrageous. Fixed.
  18. Well perhaps if the good people of Falkirk got up off their arse and started committing some petty crime they'd get more coverage. Edit - another thing that gets on my nerves is how P&B randomly decides to post my comments in size 18 font.
  19. This. From a friend's Facebook post earlier, this was a reply from one of his female friends - "that's well wit guys fae boot this end dae". Just horrible.
  20. The old North and East stands and one of Tannadice & Dens.
  21. We tried this method when one of the 4 sharing our flat was the same, never lifted a finger for months. The rest of us decided to stop doing anything and after 3 days the kitchen was an absolute bomb site, and the messy guy cleaned the whole place top to bottom without saying a word. He also regularly cleaned up after himself from then on.
  22. I went out with a girl years ago who was learning to drive. She was a reasonably intelligent girl but a horrendous driver, actually dangerous. I remember one time when I was giving her a driving lesson in my own car, as we approached a junction and I told her to take a left she said "your left or mine?"
  23. I bought my first car from Arnold Clark, it was a few years old and luckily came with a 3 month warranty. Within the 3 months it was back in for repairs 7 times, including an engine replacement. On the 7th occasion when I called them with a problem I was told that I wasn't entitled to any more warranty work after everything that had been done previously - they must have been spewing at how much this shed they sold me had cost them since. Quick phone call to Arnold HQ to complain about the branch, and I got a grovelling apology and the car repaired again. After the warranty had expired the car gave me another 4 years of trouble-free service.
