  1. Veldman is currently on a temporary contract with Club NXT which is the youth section of Club Brugge. Apart from his spell with QP his career has basically been in youth football as was that of Beuker. Handing over complete control of a senior football club to these two was in hindsight a huge mistake. If they had been in charge of our youth setup then in the long term that might have been a good move but we'll never know now!
  2. There were nine players on the bench today - one goalkeeper, five defenders, one attacking midfield player and two strikers. Thanks, Marijn, and your enablers. Hope you're having a swell time at Ajax. Mind you, as others have said, it isn't a get out of jail free card for some of the decisions made by CD of late but he has been dealt a pretty shitty hand.
  3. That's what I was asking myself for most of the game. Surely it takes some serious behind the scenes ructions to produce a performance like that.
  4. A performance that defies description. Three weeks ago we won at Somerset Park, since then we've been dreadful and today was the absolute pits. All the signs of a team that has chucked it.
  5. An embarrassing shambles of a Queen's performance. For the first time since his arrival I find myself questioning Davidson's decision making. That starting line-up left a huge hole where most teams would have a midfield. Unbelievably things got even worse after the substitutions. Anyone who says "bad day at the office" or "free hit" should be banned from Hampden.
  6. Looks like Thomson in defence and the rest is a bit baws oot! There's goals in there, just not sure who'll get the most. Ach, 4-3 for the Queen's.
  7. The clocks go forward on that day so it'll feel like 11am when the game kicks off.
  8. The only move to the right that I welcome: Full announcement - Everyone Move to the Right | Queen's Park Football Club (queensparkfc.co.uk) I can get my old seat back! I wonder where hospitality will be accommodated?
  9. Exactly this. Let's have no more talk of "free hits" especially as every game from now on in is a must win. Airdrie showed the way when they went up to Tannadice and won. This Saturday v Thistle is a huge game for us.
  10. Whit? Does nobody at this club pay attention to the Morton fans? Seriously though, this is a fantastic piece of news.
  11. It was an at times grim spectacle from a QP point of view especially in the total lack of any creativity for most of that second half. At least we had the grit and determination to dig in and salvage a point, something which I doubt we would have done under Veldman. There's still a helluva lot of work to do to fashion a side which can draw clear of the relegation zone. Says it all when the highlight of my matchday has been the tears and snotters of some of the Morton supporters on here. Keep it coming, lads!
  12. Scottish Women's Cup Tie v Bonnyrigg at Lesser is off due to frozen pitch. Not surprising when you see the frost and fog around here. Begs the question though, is there no undersoil heating there?
  13. "Kick Up The Arse!" For a brief second I had a flashback to Father Ted there.
  14. Congratulations to Ruari Paton for not only scoring but also for using the phrase "kick up the arse" in a broad Irish accent on live TV. This QP side still needs a hell of a lot of work on it but I've decided to just enjoy the rest of the evening.
  15. Forced to watch this in the hoose thanks to the lurgie. Had to rewind the IPlayer to check that I'd just heard that David Hopkin was helping out. That midfield for QP is, well, interesting.
  16. We wouldn't know anything about that. Is there no exit from this interminable vale of tears?
  17. You don't have to be particularly good to beat Queen's Park these days, just reasonably competent. That second half beggars description. What on earth went on in the dressing room at half time?
  18. There was a heavy overnight frost here in the South Side followed by snow earlier this morning. Snow has stopped but rain is forecast, which will probably wash the snow away.
  19. Every trick in The Handbook of Shiftfesting was employed by our favourites last night. I don't think I've ever seen such a negative performance by a QP side and after 95 minutes I was perfectly fine with that. The effort and application of the players was night and day compared to the last Hampden performance against Inverness when I came away with the impression that not everyone had given of their best . This time round there was a totally different attitude and well done to the coaching staff for getting that out of the players. Another plus was that there were no crazy substitutions to give game time to players who are not ready for this level. The priority was what it should have been all season - get a result. One look at the bench shows how poor our summer transfer business was and I get the feeling that until reinforcements arrive we're going to be reliant on the starting eleven of last night. So despite the appalling anti football used I came away with some hope that we can dig our way out of the hole we've made for ourselves. I doubt if the BBC will be back though.
  20. Spooky Spider may well have saved this thread. Yeah the lack of info from the club is giving many of us the heebee jeebies. Although there has been a sad lack of singing and chanting of late from the Spiders fans at Hampden, there has been some epic booing. I think half time v Ayr was the loudest so far. By full time we were too depressed to boo. Full time v ICT was quite vituperative too. When there is singing I do enjoy "Take Me Home Cathcart Road." It can send an actual shiver up my spine. Hopefully those days will come back.
  21. This thread has gone right down the pan. Weirder than the weirdest Dundee thread.
  22. The problem with our departed team from the Netherlands was that they had next to no experience of managing a senior first team squad. Veldman had a short spell in charge of Anderlecht when they were in between managers and that was about it. Whoever we go for they must have experience of being in charge of a first team and not a youth squad. I would hope that there would still be a place for the remaining Dutch coaches in the academy set up.
  23. This headline in Voetbal International gave me the fear: "The Dutch master is transforming Scottish football: "this is Football Manager in real life." No it wasn't. It was real first team senior football, not an effing computer game. Mind you maybe I'm being unfair as the actual article is behind a pay wall.
