  1. I can't recall - do you make separate sign-up threads or do the sign-ups go in here?
  2. Hey guys Would there be any interest in reviving mafia here?
  3. Each individual game only lasted between 1-2 weeks usually, but yeah, the whole thing took a long time because we needed to schedule 8 qualifying games that suited people, and then we needed to wait for everyone's schedules to line up for both wildcard and finale game
  4. Hi guys For those interested, the finale of the Mafia Championship Season 3 ended a bit over a week ago, and you can read the game here: http://www.mafiauniverse.com/forums/threads/3255-Season-3-Final-Game-The-Koopa-Troop 136 communities, 10 games and almost 6 months. In the end, the townies took home the victory, and Whiskeyjack from the westeros community was crowned the ultimate champion Interest in a hydra event? At least a dozen different communities this year expressed an interest in a so-called "hydra event", so it's finally gonna happen. If you don't know what "hydra" means, it's when two people share the same account (two heads). So the idea is that each participating community can send one or multiple hydras of two players, the advantage of which is that it's maybe easier to be active when two players are both playing on the same account, and it's also just a lot of fun So maybe your community would also be interested in this. If so and if you're wanting to play and have a partner, please send me a PM on this site within the next couple of weeks. I'll check back then and give you more information. Alternatively, you don't need to, but if you want, you can also go ahead and directly sign up in this thread, which also has a bit more info: http://www.mafiauniverse.com/forums/threads/3597-Hydra-Event-2016 Maybe Marko wants to play, in which case he just needs a partner?
  5. Your representative's Championship game started just a few hours ago: http://www.mafiauniverse.com/forums/threads/2394-Season-3-Game-8-Gears-of-War-Mafia-Championship I want to talk about and spectate the game - what do I do? If you wish to actively spectate and show support for your representative, then there are two ways of doing this. 1) There will be a private spectator thread on the site for each game that you may request access to. Simply register on the site and PM the user "Thingyman", and I will add you. Feel free to spectate games that your representative isn't in as well. These threads are published after the game completes. 2) We have a spectator chat on Skype, with currently more than 200 people in it. It's very active and fun, I highly suggest you join it if you have Skype. It's way more active than the on-site ones. Just add me: thingyman. None of these two chats/threads will be spoiled! Finally, we kindly ask that you refrain from commenting too much on the games in public on this forum, as the other representatives will easily be able to find and read through this (as has happened in the past). I can't control what you do here, but out of respect for the integrity of this Championship, it's best if you don't discuss your reads on your representative or the other players or make comments that could potentially indicate your reads. I.e. even something like "oh man, our representative is totally being his usual self right now" is not good. Speaking very generally about what has happened so far in the game (so as to update your fellow community members) without commenting on it is fine though. I hope this doesn't seem too strict to you guys, but the game can become very uncomfortable (and unfair) if there is discussion about it outside of the game thread. If you want to have your own private spectator chat, that is of course also totally fine and I even encourage it (I'd love to be added if you make one of these) I wish your representative and your community all the best of luck for this season!
  6. You sure? Don't worry about skill level. Activity level is most important anyway, if you can keep up with the game, you're good. Edit: And right, one person per forum.
  7. Could someone poke David for me, he's not responding?
  8. Anyone other than DavidMcG potentially interested? If not, that makes it an easy decision, assuming ofc David is indeed interested.
  9. Invitation to The Mafia Championship Season 3 Hello everyone, it’s that time of the year again, so I will once more try my luck to see if I can wrangle you guys into sending a representative This year we’re expanding once again; 136 communities will be invited to participate, making this not only the biggest Mafia event ever, but also the largest cross-forum event in the history of the Internet. We’ve also moved the venue to Mafia Universe, a new site created largely because of this series. Are you interested? As always, how you decide your representative is completely up to you. To guarantee your community a spot in Season 3 of the Mafia Championship, I will need to know of your community's interest within the next week (until April 4th). Following this, you will have an additional two weeks to decide your nominee (until April 18th). Additionally, it would be a very good idea to also name an alternate. Remember that your representative needs to be prepared to deal with a lot of activity. Expect at least upwards of 500 posts per 24 hours during the early stages of the game. The representative needs to not only be able to read all this, but should also at least be able to manage making 10+ posts per day phase. Season 3 Specifics • 136 different communities are invited to participate. If some decline the invitation, I may opt to allow larger communities an additional nominee. • 8 Qualifying Games will be played with 17 players each. • 2 players advance to the Finale Game from each game based on post-game votes. • 1 Wildcard Game will be played (Wildcards are decided by a jury consisting of former finalists), determining the 17th and final spot in the Finale. Runner-ups in this game will be first in line to replace any finalists who may have to drop out. Season 3 Timeline & Important Dates The first Qualifying Game is set to start April 25th. Additional games will take place in the 1-3 months following. I will create a Doodle and find out the best times to start the various games so that preferably everyone gets to play during a time that suits them well. In addition to this, it is also a priority to ensure as much as possible that all the players in any given game has no prior history of playing with each other to ensure a level playing field (but I cannot 100% guarantee that this won’t happen). Season 3 Game Design & Setup For each season, we’ve changed it up. This time, we’re doing something new again! The setup is called Matrix12 and is inspired by mafiascum’s popular Matrix6 setup, if any of you are familiar with that. In short, the concept is that there are 12 different possible setups and the host randomizes which one is used. The players know what setups are available, but not which one will be used! More on the setup here: http://www.mafiauniverse.com/forums/threads/1374-Setup-Discussion-Matrix12-%28Proposed-Season-3-Format%29 Regarding lynch mechanics: There will be a deadline each day phase, and the person with the most votes at the end of the day is lynched, unless a majority has already been reached before then, in which case the day ends prematurely. Days will last 36 hours and nights 12 hours, meaning 48 hours (2 days) per game day. With one exception: The weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) will be one game day (so day will be 60 hours and night 12 hours on weekends).
  10. Did no additional mafia games run after the Toy Story one that I hosted? :/
  11. It compares favorably, I think you're an awesome bunch
  12. Haha, it's funny. I asked for 3 experienced setup designers' input on this setup, and they all agreed that they would prefer being a townie in this setup. I figured that was fine, since you guys were probably a bit rusty, so it would balance out. The mafia team certainly has powers, but having 6 townie power roles and several of those having investigative powers in a 19-man setup is also quite powerful, I think
  13. Also, I think this is really impressive and deserves a shoutout: DarkBlue62 targeted three investigative roles in a row: CountyFan (Tracker) > DavidMcG (Investigator) > Sooky (Voyeur).
  14. I'm sorry for the couple of mistakes I made. Hopefully you still enjoyed the game though, and hopefully you'll start playing again
  15. Here's the mafia PM, in case you're curious about the specifics of some of those roles:
