  1. Wonder how the the sport pages will continue. Surely they can’t talk about the old firm for weeks on end or can they. Will the sport journalist have to earn a living by reporting on more newsworthy events or will they be made redundant?
  2. If it turns out that the season can’t be completed I would hope that the club would take into consideration its season ticket holders and make some sort of adjustment to next year’s season tickets for the home matches cancelled. I realise that the club will have based its expenditure on the revenue received in advance through season ticket sales and can’t just say we will refund all for the matches that are cancelled. Players contracts, utilities and staff wages will have to be paid and guaranteed income will have been taken into account within the budget. I personally would not be looking for a refund as the club has enough to contend with financially. On a lighter note thankfully the gathering of crowds over 500 won’t happen until next week. The Falkirk fans and those in the temporary stands will ensure we have a few quid in the bank!
  3. Players who are out of contract would have an effect on teams being able to play beyond the season end which in turn would impact upon teams with small squad numbers and give an advantage to those with larger squads. Seasonable solution would be to scrap promotion and relegation for all divisions. The downside of that would be the seethe from those who had built their squad on promotion and it not happening. The SFA should be doing all in their powers to ensure no clubs suffer real financial hardship through fixtures being cancelled, I am sure they have the funds to do so!
  4. Adam Frizell in SPFL team of the week!
  5. For those moaning about our current home strip click on this link to see our strips since the club started. http://historicalkits.co.uk/
  6. He has been hooked. According to the BBC he seems out of sorts. Send him back to us
  7. Could they not move their seats. It’s not as if the stadium is full.
  8. Don’t where the reports about Dyer wanting to leave are coming from , but if I was a player reading Pie and Bovril and seeing* all the negative remarks about me it is not surprising that he wants out. I have supported the Sons through good and bad times and although this is a bad time i am sure we will get through this. My opinion of Dyer is that he gives his best and although it may not be good enough for some of out fans he is all we have in that position. I agree that we should have got rid of Aitken when we were relegated and who knows we might be in a better position than we are now, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. I hope that we will turn the corner soon but at the moment I see our priority as staying in this division. Constantly putting players down is not the way to get us out of this hole. We have a threadbare squad, ravaged with injuries which I have not witnessed in a long time, players playing out of position doing their best to get us the results we want which unfortunately is not happening. Hopefully Duffy can sort it out but it won’t happen overnight. Isn’t is great to be a Dumbarton supporter
  9. BBC Scotland on the first division report has Craig Barr scoring Dumbarton’s second goal. Not bad for someone who is out injured.
  10. Ray MacKinnon. Only way he’ll get in the Premier league
  11. Is it the banner you’re after or the person holding it?
  12. BBC Scotland news tonight ran a10minutes post saying that the Scottish Premier League starts tomorrow. No mention that the other 3 senior league start tomorrow - shocking
  13. See that Harry and Meghan are Earl and Countess of Dumbarton. We should get them to attend our home games and boost our support and revenue. Maybe they could sponsor a match or our complete season.
  14. In total agreement with you in this.
  15. Yesterday was grim for the comments above. I think that the relegation could be a bit of a blessing in disguise. We have struggled all season apart from a few glimpses of brilliance. Brechin took much of the spotlight due to them being so woeful. Personally I think if we had stayed up we would have a season like Brechin had and I am sure more fans would have walked away, which would have been more detrimental in the long run for the club. Our new chairman seems to be a true fan and is approachable, talking to fans in the lounge after the game and on the touch line yesterday trying to get enthusiasm from us. It is good to see and hopefully he will keep it going. When did we last see such support from the top. Off the part who knows what it happening with Branco, hopefully they will have learnt the lesson of not investing in the team and that they reap their reward by being offered a pittance should someone be brave enough to buy them out. The prematch entertain seems to be a winner and hopefully this will generate much needed income. Well done to all involved in this venture. The Trust have done a great job and must be congratulated on all their hard work. Now to the playing side of things. Whoever is in charge next season has the priority of getting a striker which we have been desperately crying out for some time. If we re to escape league 1 we must be more attack minded. Hopefully we can improve the squad. I feel we are fairly good at the back and in midfield. It was commented that the players did not acknowledge the fans at full time yesterday, but if you had lost the match you would be downhearted and want to escape as quickly as possible. We have had a fantastic 6 years in the Championship and hopefully can return there soon. Being a Sons fan is all about ups and downs, and we have had a fair few of them, but let’s get behind them new things season. As fans we need to be more vocal and while the drums created a bit of atmosphere their behaviour towards the end was not acceptable and if they can be identified from pictures they should be spoken to about what is acceptable and told if they don’t behave they are not welcome at the club.
  16. Try telling that to Fraser. He frequently shouts the the ref doesn’t know backside from offside
  17. Create an award for best overseas player - sorted
  18. Great day out yesterday despite the result. I think in the last 20 minutes we tired although the players gave it their best. Certainly our injury situation has contributed to the team not being at their best but they did us proud. It was good to see so many coming along to support us on our big day and hopefully some will come and watch us again and hopefully we can give them something to cheer about. Massive congratulations to the Trust for all their organisation of buses, flags etc and hopefully they recruited a few new members because of it. I have just watched the game (glutton for punishment) and the piece by Colin Hosie in the half time break was very well said. I know he has been around the club for many years and is a true supporter of the team. It is a shame that our chairman could not say anything in the lead up to the match on the website to show to the fans that he cares about the club ( in fact has he said anything to the fans- maybe he doesn’t exist)
  19. Will the colt teams receive payment at the end of the year as the other teams do for their finishing position in the league? If so their clubs will be getting paid twice.
