  1. The chances of any player coming through the Bayern youth system are incredibly low. They have Musiala and Stanisic currently making an impact, but the latter is 23 and has only played 40 games there (he only broke into the second team at 19, similar to Morrison for example). Muller is also still kicking around. Before Musiala you're probably going back to the early 2010s for the last time an academy player properly broke through with the likes of Muller, Kroos, Alaba and Holger Badstuber (maybe Diego Contento too who was a back up left back for a few years), unless I'm missing anyone obvious. The chances of Hepburn, or Morrison really, making it at Bayern have always been pretty slim but I'm sure they'll have had an incredible experience and should be all the better for it.
  2. I really like Towler tbh. He's still very young so isn't perfect yet but think he could do very well for you. Unlike most 18 year old loanees teams at this sort of level sign he actually has a decent amount of first team football under his belt. He came in just after his 17th birthday and instantly looked like one of our better players. Good defensively so left of a back 3 may suit him and I think he's improved going forward since we first had him. Good luck to him, I'll follow his career with interest.
  3. I haven't got out of bed yet but it's been worth it.
  4. Meh. Didn't see him do much wrong but likewise didn't seem to have any standout attributes.
  5. The Blues should just give up and accept their inferiority. Hopefully Luai has a good night, fucking scumbag.
  6. Doran might still have the quality at this level to justify being given a free role behind the striker. Difficult to know really but worth considering.
  7. Definitely nervous about next season but happy to get behind Draper. Hopefully he can attract the sort of quality we have lacked the last couple of seasons.
  8. Draper would worry me, it seems like a very lazy option. Hope I'm wrong. Seeing Annan go up is a reminder how poorly we've done in this league over the years. I'd love to think it'll be our day in the near future but hope is dwindling.
  9. First of all I am delighted to hear how scathing we are of the conference league idea. I suppose, as horrible as relegation would be, playing in the Highland League would bring numerous local derbies/fixtures but I still feared we might see it as a nice cushion from SPFL football. Hester is obviously one of the best players in the lower leagues and losing him is a big blow. If I were to try and stay I'd positive I'd say we've become progressively more and more route one over the last few years with the thinking being 'get it to Hester and hope for the best' and this may encourage us to start playing some football again. The fact we see retaining 15 of the current squad as a good thing however, is concerning. I'm not going to pretend I understand the stuff about the pitch but it sounds like short term it could be an issue and long term hopefully will do us some good. I'm glad we're taking our time over a new manager as the Charlesworth/Draper/Dunn trio hardly inspires. Next season feels pivotal in our future, hope we get it right.
  10. First of all, something was needed or we were almost certainly heading to the Highland League. Not only results but performances have been shocking for a long time. A slight surprise given the comments from Tatters the other day but suppose it's hard to argue after the result. I am sorry to see Gav go like this. 8 years, 4 and a half as manager, is a fair stint in the modern game especially given the travelling required. It's been up and down under him but the 19/20 season was particularly fun and if it hadn't been halted early who knows how we might've done in the play offs. He seems like a great guy and I hope he finds another club soon. Onwards and upwards (hopefully).
  11. Games in hand are often more likely to be a case of damaging your goal difference than picking up points when you're down the bottom, especially given who we play. In saying that, a win in either would be huge.
  12. Who could have foreseen a man with a diet consisting mostly of fags and lucozade having heart problems? Not me.
  13. 3 defeats from 3 v East Fife this season so far. Presumably there is an agreement with Dundee regarding Tom Findlay as while everyone else in his position has been in and out of the team he starts every game despite offering nothing.
  14. I remember reading that a local player died playing rugby and therefore Innerleithen became more of a football town than their neighbours. Walkerburn is only a mile or so along the road and has a rugby team despite a tiny population and the kids will go to Peebles High School so I'd expect it's a fairly even split between football and rugby there really.
  15. Second from the left is gonna end up looking like Alan Brazil if he's not careful.
  16. Aye Buckie were a cut above. Don't watch that much Highland League but they looked a really good side compared to anyone else I've seen. Helps playing on a flat surface compared to some of the tattie fields in the league but they played some cracking football and have a few very handy wee players.
  17. Think we're clearly the worst team in the league just now, just got to hope Bonnyrigg and Albion don't pick up too many points while getting a few ourselves. Promotion play offs are gone for us.
  18. Diamond is a complete dinosaur who doesn't care about concussion. This reeks of Mallinder giving his old pal a job.
  19. There's a great swimming spot just outside Sorrento called Bagni Regina Giovanna. It's a wee cove with a tunnel you can swim under to take you into the open sea where you get amazing views of Sorrento and Vesuvius. The water should be warm in October.
  20. Bloody loved Naples and Campania in general but not sure the city itself would be the best for kids tbh. I was in the centre though and did trips to Sorrento, Ischia, Vesuvius etc. so somewhere on the outskirts might be suitable. The centre is fairly chaotic with minimal green spaces and as a child I wouldn't have enjoyed it but that's just me.
  21. Shane was at the game on Saturday. Could be for a number of reasons but we can hope it's because he's signing.
  22. Last week and the cup game v Ayr are the two exceptions of late. I don't think we've played well in any other game since Christmas (at least) and recently it's been particularly turgid.
  23. Laughably bad performance. Actually think it's one the worst Elgin performances I've ever seen. Need to waken up or the Highland League will be too good for us.
  24. I think I got it from Transfermarkt, otherwise I quite possibly made it up. Thanks for the info!
