  1. He took a crap penalty and missed a glorious chance with a header. That's all I meant really. I doubt anyone would be particularly fearful coming to Borough Briggs just now but we have only lost two games there this season and Stenny have been pretty mediocre both times we've played you. Based purely off those two games, I don't think it's that outlandish to suggest we could get something, especially given we did when you were up in October.
  2. Feared the worst after the inevitable early goal but we battled well after a really shaky first 20 or so. Terrible mistake by McHale to give away the penalty then unfortunate with the rebound, Matty Aitken seemed desperate not to score yesterday which I suppose is only fair given the complete waste of a jersey he was at us. Stenny have looked good for about 25 minutes across the two games v us this season, based off the two games we can definitely take something from them when they visit Borough Briggs. I am less confident against Peterheid next week.
  3. Just booked a train for Munich>Koln on Monday 17th for £28. We've got accomodation and flights out sorted so now just need to sort travel home which shouldn't be too hard from Koln. Gives us the chance to stay on for game 3 too if we want...
  4. One of the dullest away days you could have right before Christmas but hopefully we play like we were in November and we can take something from it.
  5. We've been pumped plenty playing 5-4-1 this season so at least we'd be having a go. But I didn't mean 3 out and out strikers, Harvey and Taylor as wingers. They both put in a shift every week (and actually offer something going forward) unlike some more experienced players, as does Barron.
  6. Spartans looked a decent team, some really skillful players, but some of our defending was appalling. Quite a few players in that team are past their best and some newer signings aren't up to it. I thought Ben Barron put in a good shift, I'd like to see him starting in a front 3 with Harvey and Taylor next week.
  7. Looking forward to a Saturday game at Borough Briggs. I missed the Bonnyrigg game so it's been a long, long time. I remember Archie Macphee scoring a late winner the last time Spartans visited back in 2015. I think it was the Dylan Easton's first game after signing and it was a real turning point in our season. Hoping for similar tomorrow.
  8. Two big wins in our last three games, a new manager to be excited about and hopefully Dingwall back fully fit so plenty of positives for us. In saying that our away record is terrible so I'd be happy enough with a draw.
  9. Maybe to an outsider but I can't remember a boring season supporting Elgin. We've generally been pretty decent or rank rotten for the last 12 years and I think you'd have to go back a bit beyond that to find a season where we had nothing to play for in the last few weeks. We went 9 years at one point without a draw at Borough Briggs and until the last couple of years or so played some really attacking football which led to an awful lot of high scoring games. We were the first team to take a point at Ibrox during the journey despite playing more than half the game with 10 men. We've lost a cup tie 6-0 to a non league team a few weeks ago (our second defeat of that scoreline in 3 games) and another to Bo'ness a few years ago where we were 3-0 up at home and ended up drawing 4-4, then lost the replay 5-4. A fair few scalps have gone our way in the cup too, particularly 4 or 5 years ago. We also had the second tallest footballer in world football for a few years. The only thing missing is a promotion or relegation, but we've come close to both plenty of times and I think most fans would suggest one will happen in the next few years.
  10. All the shouts for us are pretty brainless tbh. In the last 30 years we have; Had a league title taken off us for moving a game to a Friday to avoid players being suspended. Had our highest profile home game ever postponed because we sold way more tickets than the ground holds. Had a game postponed in August because the pitch was too dry. Had a director and one of the main financial bankers of the club resign because a fellow director told him to stick his money up his arse via a 'hacked' email. Had 6 (plus several recently departed) players called out by the SFA for betting breaches at once, including our standout player who won five figures betting on himself to be booked which led to a court case that lasted over 3 years. It's not always fun but it's very rarely uninteresting supporting Elgin. Embarrassing or amusing, take your pick.
  11. Finally a managerial appointment to get excited about. Hopefully carries on where he left off at Huntly.
  12. Booked flats for game 1 in Munich and game 2 in Köln on airbnb right after the draw. Neither host replied to the booking so both were cancelled, tried again yesterday and it looks like same result. We'll probably just pay a bit more for a hotel. Flight out is booked from London-Munich via Brussels. Way back we'll get a train either to Amsterdam or London and fly back from there. All a bit stressful but I'm sure it'll be worth it.
  13. It's a bit of a gamble but Huntly have been good this season on a presumably lower budget than most of the teams around them. I'd be fairly happy with that.
  14. Since full time last Tuesday I've been really looking forward to this. As stated it's huge for both teams and a win for us would put us 8 points off the bottom. We have a good record at home, 10 points from our last 4 games, so I'm cautiously optimistic, but I think it'll be tight. Hopefully Dingwall is fit enough to play some part.
  15. I was at Culter-Hermes yesterday. The latter will be disappointed not to have taken anything after creating plenty of chances and playing the last 10 mins or so v 9 men. Cracking game. Hopefully Dyce can keep up their form and we get a title race.
  16. Have to say that's some win for Buckie playing with 10 men for most of the game.
  17. Hardly inspired at fhe thought of Sid Mackay. Tokely rumoured to be coming as his assistant too which is awful news, a horrible man.
  18. Good result last night. 2nd half was backs to the wall but as mentiomed Forfar didn't threaten us too much. First half hour I thought we were decent with Harvey, MacLeman, Taylor and particularly Jones causing them problems. The latter came with a less than impressive reputation from his previous clubs but was a real handful for their defence and if not for that penalty miss I might have had him as motm. Huge game and opportunity v Clyde next weekend.
  19. 2-1, they scored a penalty in the last minute. I had it on in the background while working and thought we rode our luck a bit at times. But a good result especially without two key players in One and Miller. I was most impressed with David Watson, probably unsurprising given he's playing consistently at a high level.
  20. Big game for both teams with the chance to pull away from Clyde a bit. Looking forward to it, haven't been to a game for a few weeks and it's always nice playing under the floodlights.
  21. Elgin were very inconsistent under Gav, both within seasons and from year to year. At our best we played some great attacking football and he built some very good teams. Over time we became progressively worse and worse to watch and results were poor too. I'd be surprised if he didn't try and raid the likes of Jeanfield at some point, he loved signing Perth based players for us. Great guy who I doubt many involved with Elgin have a bad word to say about, hope he does well.
  22. Those first names 4 are all ex Elgin so if they're out that reduces the worry of former players coming back to haunt us.
  23. Gav has a caravan at Lossiemouth that he spent a lot of time staying at while he was with us.
  24. Our away form is shocking but about half our league wins this year have been v Dumbarton and who knows, we may get a new manager bounce (do you get one if it's his second stint?).
