I drove past it back in April and I would say your parking is okay. There’s a Tesco anc Aldi nearby, the Gairloch tourist centre had parking and I think the nearby pub had parking outside also from memory.

I'd avoid the Gairloch Tourist Centre unless your fancying a grand day out in Wester Ross-shire. Mind you probs a better proposition given locos performance last saturday🤪

God help the other NCL clubs finances if Rhu, Dunoon and Helensburgh joined the league. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 bad enough the likes of Halkirk Thurso etc going to Fort William next season and then you add those three🤣. I Ken the Highland fault passes nr Helensburgh and since the 90's the residents consider themselves part of Argyll but fairs fair!

Slightly OT, but the teams for this summer's Inverness amateur league have been confirmed.

    https://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/sport/28-teams-announced-to-play-in-inverness-amateur-summer-leagu-237207/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook

Premiership – Avoch, Ardersier, Contin, ICM Electrical, IRN Security, Loch Ness, Maryburgh, NMM Sams and Tomatin.

Division One –Balloan, Black Rock Rovers, Charlestelona, Culloden Blacksmith’s, Drakies PDG, Highland Hospice, Hill Rovers, Innes CI and Muir of Ord Rovers.

Division Two – AFC River Ness, Black Isle United, Citadel, Conon Bridge, Gellions, Highland Athletic, Invergordon Social Club, Inverness Athletic, Ness Thistle and Tomatin United

There's the odd one or two teams in the  premiership division could quite easily make the step into the NCL if they fancied.

Classic 70s answers from hard man Drew Busby.

Likes roast beef (it's usually steak and chips so fair play), Wings and Morecambe & Wise.

    Nice kit too.

Hopefully Drew Jarvie answered "Drew Busby" to the best friend question.

    Any more of these?

Umbro, Adidas and Admiral kits from the late 70's were the best. None of this patterned spiro infused pish we get today.

It never would have gotten started otherwise.

You've got to remember that the Scottish pyramid is still in its infancy. The English pyramid has been on the go since the late i0s early nineties and has constantly evolved and been tweaked over time. I suspect the same will happen with the Scottish version

Massive sales of Loch Ness FC's football shirts, apparently "world wide" sales.  Amazing success for the new North Caley League club.

Which of the 3 new shirts, do you consider has the best design/colour ?  And has anyone bought one ?

If I'm biased I would say the white away strip is the best simply because of the big diagonal nessie across the shirt. The black home strip is really neat and a close second though with the horizontal pin stripes and wee nessies.  The blue third strip is also a close runner and of similar design to the black one.

I've bought the white away shirt but due to demand it's on pre-order so could be anything from 2-god knows how many weeks. Defoe worth the wait though😊😊😊

Aye, second tier of the local welfare league according to this.

Sign of the times how amateur football has fallen over the years. I played in the Inverness and district amateur league back in the early 90s when there was about 40 teams playing. Rosshire had their own league with I think 13/15 clubs from Gairloch to Fortrose. Now we have a combined league of 26/27. I don't think it's competition from.other sports I think the issue is sufficient volunteers to run and admin these teams.

  8. OK so perhaps not as relevant but id like to add this little diity from my past.

I have always been a Dundee Utd Fan despite living in the west coast in my younger years but I always remember being at the game for Celtic v Nottingham Forest in 1983/84 UEFA Cup at Celtic Park. What an atmosphere - Celtic came away from the first leg with a 0-0 draw and expectation in Glasgow was high. Must have been 66,000 at least in the ground and I was there in the away end. Remember the Tennants girls doing a trackside promo. To me the best memory was when Cloughie came on the pitch to acknowledge the Stadium crowd before KO. What a legend.

I was there when Whitehill got assessed. On the 3 sides with grass banking the guys calculated it to allow only  2 deep standing. If there was hard standing I think it could be deeper even though it’s flat. On the far side opposite the changing rooms it’s quite shallow banking which goes back a long way but that counts for nowt. Against that, there’s a wee patch of terrace near the pavilion which was allocated 700...

Health and safety police gone daft. Mind when Forres played Rangers a few years back in the cup? Initially Forres were allowed 1400 only if everyone stood side by side on the railings then the hse police relented to allow folk in between taking it to 2700. Yet the banking can cater for 6000 comfortably.

Looks that way, which is encouraging.  (We recently enjoyed a stay in Ardguy - lovely area).

If Bonar Bridge proves to be competitive in the NCL, if may encourage former North Caley clubs like Dingwall Thistle, Balintore, or Dornoch to reform/rejoin ? Or even lead to the formation of a 'United' club from the Black Isle, to play winter football.     Pure fantasy of course (from Uncle Bob) !

What about the Rossshire amateur teams who play in the summer Inverness Amateur League? Surely one or two might fancy a crack at winter league footy? Im thinking Avoch, Culbokie, Contin etc...

From an outsider's perspective, the HFL have always seemed the most protectionist of the non-league seniors, who when looking to bring new teams in seem more interested in preserving the traditional Highlands proper/North East balance in their league rather than letting it naturally shift towards an Aberdeenshire-heavy setup even though that's where most of the people (and thus also players and fans) in their jurisdiction actually live.

Just looking at the current SJFA North Superleague tables just there - any of the current top three could step into the Highland League tomorrow and do a job. Moreover, they're all now playing in up-to-date grounds...Banks O'Dee at Spain Park, Bridge of Don at Aberdeen Sports Village and Montrose Roselea at Links Park...

I can see how the perception of the SHFL being protectionist is made out to be but the SHFL is in favour of the pyramid but one of the biggest stumbling blocks to the integration of the SJFA North, the NCL and the SJFA tayside clubs is the requirement for floodlights due to the number of league fixtures, as well as local association cup ties that are played mid week. A lot of the NCL and SJFA North clubs are unable/unwilling to spend the money on floodlights or the additional costs of travel to the highlands and beyond on a regular basis. While there is a gulf in standards with the exception of one or two North clubs and some of the Tayside teams (who in fairness should be part of the Highland League pyramid judging by how Rugby organizes itself) teams will eventually find their level within the system so the current gulf in standards can be accounted for.

The WRJFA & ERJFA have been accepted into the pryamid from season 2019-20 this includes the clubs based in Tayside . There is no Tayside league and no proposals to form a Tayside league.

No they haven't. This is utter nonsense and should be treated as such.

Heard something similar with Nairn - my cousin went along once and reported 100 but the press said 300.

Typically HL attendances are higher than LL.  The clubs with the bigger attendances tend to be Wick, Buckie, Fraserburgh, Inverurie who average 300-350, Wick generallly slightly more, Cove are near the 300 mark. Brora, Deveronvale, probably around 200-250. The rest with the exception of Fort William and Strathspey will range from 100-200. As with everything football at this level, midweek fixtures and postponements significantly affects attendance.
