Going by the news item on the club website* when his signing was announced in July his contract has now expired:

    Welcome - Efe Ambrose

We have today signed Efe Ambrose on a short-term deal. The 34-year-old who was a free agent after leaving Morton joins the squad until the end of the year.

I suppose there's still a chance he may sign another short-term contract before Saturday, indeed he may have already done so or has extended his current one to the end of the season but the club admin / SFA quillpushers are stretching their holidays out for as long as possible meaning the paperwork hasn't been signed off yet.

    * Question for Homer T - is there any prospect of the O/S club news ever being made searchable?  It's actually much easier to find specific news items on the old pre-Beta site!  Think it's been asked on here before but I can't remember the response.

Aye, I just looked at the player profile on the OS and it said contract ends January 2024 so wasn't sure what part of the month it meant. Worth an extension if he wants it given our injury problems in that area. Not sure how far away Brydon is from returning but Ambrose would still be decent cover even if all players are ready.

Isn't Ambrose away as of the 1st? Could be wrong thought I read that on Queens thread.

It's been a while since we resorted to cross after cross into the box. We had a spell of maybe a little bit of predictability and lack of plan B at the start of Q2 although results largely held up, but we look as if we are evolving as a team again.

3-0. Ross Maciver hattrick of close range headers.

According to QoS website Ambrose contract expires January 2024, not sure that necessarily means the 1st of the month though. If he is away (still possibility of him signing an extension) and our other recognised central defenders don't recover from injury we could be very makeshift back there. We are so short that Josh Todd finished at the back V Annan last week. We really need all our players on top of their game (and a bit of luck and favourable referee) and hope Falkirk are just a bit off if we have any chance of getting something on Saturday. Also depends on what names and formation comes out in Marvin's tombola draw.

With no news coming from the club anyone fancy nipping along to today's training to see if Efe and any new faces are there?

I would have myself but have family commitments today.

What is it, 2 days into the transfer window, 8:30 in the morning, admin staff prob on a 1 or 2 day break, hardly surprising there's no news from the Club yet. As usual with Queens I don't expect a lot of early dealing and I don't fancy travelling from Dumfries to Hamilton just to see who's there even though I've got the time. If I was going to watch them training it would be more out of curiosity as to what they actually do there rather than who's there.

Can we not look on the bright side for once.

Picking up results, winning ugly, into the transfer window. It’s 2024 so let’s be optimistic.

I know that we still aren’t firing on all cylinders and MB still has to prove himself but maybe 2-3 experienced players in and our injury crisis easing a little may see us entering better days…

Hands up, I'm a pessimistic auld codger. Not much to be upbeat over the past few seasons, or this for that matter. Can we trust Marv to strengthen with the right people? Are our injuries worries easing? It seems that when one or two players are close to returning we lose another one or two. Obviously Marv can't help injuries picked up during games but we must had more injured at training than matches and that's down to him and his staff imo. Hopefully Marv's New Year resolutions are to forget petty squabbles, pick the best players available, stick to a working formation that players understand and stop overthinking things. I really do hope he can bring some sustained positivity for us to enjoy.

    Happy New Year to all.

Hope Bartley got a new coaching manual for Christmas. Don't know what's involved in his current training regime but it doesn't appear to be working. Does he run them into the ground every day? Never known a squad to have as many injuries picked up at training. Friday seems a popular day for tweeks, twinges and pulls! Thought it was usually a day for tactical side and working on set pieces.

10 minutes a week working on set-ups at throw-ins ( which invariably don't work) is the maximum spent on the tactical side I would say, the rest seems to be just running. I wonder how much time at training is spent with a ball, actually practising simple passes to  another player.

  6. The Annan squad has a few "chips on shoulders" ex Queens players desperate to prove the club wrong for letting them go, sadly the only thing proved is it was right to let them go. Can't say I'd take any of that squad to Queens but I'm sure a few Queens players would walk into the Annan team. Actually wouldn't be surprised if Todd eventually ends up there given he lives fairly locally, he's not quite dropped to that level yet though.

Totally correct,Tommy Muir lost possesion & the boy skipped through 3 non existent challenges - aye very disappointing from an Annan point  of view.

Gav Reilly clinical finish for the 2nd. - he's a good guy - notice nobody slags the Gretna boy & he never over celebrates- he's one of us.

How many saves did Greg Fleming have to make against the "galacticos" today ? Very few.

A great day out appreciating football, lovely bar staff - the Imperial, The Globe, The Vicky ,the Stag & the Waverley - commendations to all of them.

Annan know where we are - some o u guys that post on here who always seem to miss games are totally deluded - you have a full time team full o shrimps & no physical presence .

Prob won of the worst Queens teams I have seen in my life ( Yeh I was a Queens fan before my hometown team joined league, simples)

I don't think any Queens fan realistically thinks of the team as Galacticos on this season's performsnces

Glad you had a good day in all those pubs, probably explains your salty tears post.

If the Queens team is full of shrimps what does that make Annan, I've never seen a team whose players hit the deck as easily at the slightest contact, and cry to the ref for opposition players to be booked at every foul.

I doubt you were ever a real Queens fan, a fan stays with their team for life, reminiscent of fans defecting to Gretna when they hit the "big leagues". Still probably cheaper for you than travelling to Glasgow to watch your real big team.

    Get doon.

Really some very deluded queens fans on here, Annan are league newcomers from a tiny town a third of the size of Dumfries who were defeated by one goal and it looked very like a penalty to Annan at the end. generally Annan were the  better and more entertaining team for most of the match. Goss was  poor for Annan but make no mistake this was simply a basement battle dogfight between two of the weakest teams in the league Queens have been massive underperformers this season. It is in both teams interest that Annan and Queens are in this league next season. Bragging rights my arse maybe wait till you beat some of the decent teams before you get a semi about squeezing past fellow strugglers who you gain valuable gate money from. Always want Annan to win and much rather Queens do well too am I missing something. No offence to sensible Queens fans

^^^^ Salty tears. GIRUY and get doon.

    Yours sincerely,

    A sensible Queens fan.

  9. Not a classic by any means, as stated the only high points from a Queens point of view were their goals, especially McGuffie's. Fair play to valliant wee Annan, they really tried but again came up just short. Deserved red card for Goss, thought it could actually have been a straight red, and Gibson W. and Smith proved again to be moaning twats who got exactly what they deserved from the game. A few hairy moments defensively for Queens in that second half but still managed to claim full points (again).

    9 from 12, thank-you very much.

Defended Bartley's decision in the past not to line up Gibson with Wullie but you don't drop him after a good run of results. Fucking ridiculous.

Just can't fathom out some of his decisions, even some substitutions are a mystery. Throw away the coaching manual Marv, just pick the best performing players in their best positions, simples.

Club’s  twitter feed looking for volunteers with snow shovels to clear pitch & incredibly photo of our manager working on surface which says it all about the man 🙌

Given the penguin references that some Falkirk fans were making about McGlynn earlier this season (probably selective amnesia by some about that now though) he should be right at home on a bit of snow.

Looking at the weather forecast everyone’s in for a drenching and with the wind like last week’s game at Stirling.

Well, I know Annan have their injury woes, but we’ve got our own unavailability issues.

Unless Brandon unexpectedly returns, I’d expect McKay to drop into the back line as he did at Galabank. For me the big question is who will be brought into the midfield, assuming Cochrane’s still not fit.

I ‘d like a line up something like.

    Stones.

    Logan, McKay, Ambrose, Church

    Todd, Ferguson,

    Connelly, McGuffie, Gibson.

    Reilly.

Won’t be surprised to see McKechnie or Walker in for McGuffie and more of a 4-4-2

We really need to start on the front foot and ask questions of them defensively.

Theres no way we'll see Brandon in this game or anytime soon I would hazard a strong guess, Brydon however is hopefully getting closer to returning but probably still a week or two away yet. I think your team there is probably the best if McLelland and Cochrane are unavailable but you can never tell what Marvin's thought process is regarding line ups.

Tickets are available to buy online.

As far as I know, away fans can buy tickets at the ticket office on the day. Don't see any reason why not.

Not checked recently but when I posted earlier there was no supporters info about this game on the OS, or Buy Ticket button on the the "Next Match" notice, might be different now of course.

Seriously got the fear for this fixture with Annans injury woes continuing. Might rock up with my Winfields and find myself on the bench!

Will pay cash at the gate be available for our travelling hordes from the Queen of the Border?

No cash turnstiles any more, away fans might be pre-purchased e-tickets only or tickets may be available to buy on the day at the Arena ticket desk.

Edit: Just had a look on the Queens OS and no buy ticket function available yet and no match info either that I can see.

  15. Surprised McLelland hasn't had more suspensions, he's been lucky a couple of times not to get a second booking in games. He's young and a bit reckless at times but he doesn't hide his passion, he just needs to be a bit more thoughtful and composed if he's already on a booking. Some of the fouls he gives away are just plain stupid.

  16. Surprised any Queens supporter is complaining about the opposition time wasting, it's not as if we've never been accused of it ourselves before (on quite a few occasions). It boils my piss on the few occasions we've been in front early on we fanny about with slow goal kicks or throw ins when we should be looking to add to the score instead of trying to hold on to what we've got. Wasn't there today so no idea if there was blatant time wasting but we are no angels when it comes to it either.
